Book Synopsis Bifurcations And Chaos In Piecewise-smooth Dynamical Systems: Applications To Power Converters, Relay And Pulse-width Modulated Control Systems, And Human Decision-making Behavior by : Zhanybai T Zhusubaliyev
Download or read book Bifurcations And Chaos In Piecewise-smooth Dynamical Systems: Applications To Power Converters, Relay And Pulse-width Modulated Control Systems, And Human Decision-making Behavior written by Zhanybai T Zhusubaliyev and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-06-25 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technical problems often lead to differential equations with piecewise-smooth right-hand sides. Problems in mechanical engineering, for instance, violate the requirements of smoothness if they involve collisions, finite clearances, or stick-slip phenomena. Systems of this type can display a large variety of complicated bifurcation scenarios that still lack a detailed description. This book presents some of the fascinating new phenomena that one can observe in piecewise-smooth dynamical systems. The practical significance of these phenomena is demonstrated through a series of well-documented and realistic applications to switching power converters, relay systems, and different types of pulse-width modulated control systems. Other examples are derived from mechanical engineering, digital electronics, and economic business-cycle theory. The topics considered in the book include abrupt transitions associated with modified period-doubling, saddle-node and Hopf bifurcations, the interplay between classical bifurcations and border-collision bifurcations, truncated bifurcation scenarios, period-tripling and -quadrupling bifurcations, multiple-choice bifurcations, new types of direct transitions to chaos, and torus destruction in nonsmooth systems. In spite of its orientation towards engineering problems, the book addresses theoretical and numerical problems in sufficient detail to be of interest to nonlinear scientists in general.

Book Synopsis Replication of Chaos in Neural Networks, Economics and Physics by : Marat Akhmet
Download or read book Replication of Chaos in Neural Networks, Economics and Physics written by Marat Akhmet and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-13 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents detailed descriptions of chaos for continuous-time systems. It is the first-ever book to consider chaos as an input for differential and hybrid equations. Chaotic sets and chaotic functions are used as inputs for systems with attractors: equilibrium points, cycles and tori. The findings strongly suggest that chaos theory can proceed from the theory of differential equations to a higher level than previously thought. The approach selected is conducive to the in-depth analysis of different types of chaos. The appearance of deterministic chaos in neural networks, economics and mechanical systems is discussed theoretically and supported by simulations. As such, the book offers a valuable resource for mathematicians, physicists, engineers and economists studying nonlinear chaotic dynamics.

Book Synopsis Chaotic Dynamics of Nonlinear Systems by : S. Neil Rasband
Download or read book Chaotic Dynamics of Nonlinear Systems written by S. Neil Rasband and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2015-07-20 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written when the young science of chaos was gaining a foothold in the scientific community, this book introduces the field's concepts, applications, theory, and technique. Suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, researchers, and teachers of mathematics, physics, and engineering, the text's major prerequisite is familiarity with differential equations and linear vector spaces. Author S. Neil Rasband discusses the major models for the transitions to chaos exhibited by dynamic systems, introducing the "classical" topics and examples fundamental to the discipline. The most important routes to chaos are presented within a unified framework and supported by integrated problem sets. Topics include one- and two-dimensional maps, universality theory, fractal dimension, differential and conservative dynamics, and other subjects. The text is supplemented by a helpful glossary, references, and an index.

Book Synopsis Electrical Control and Quantum Chaos with a High-Spin Nucleus in Silicon by : Serwan Asaad
Download or read book Electrical Control and Quantum Chaos with a High-Spin Nucleus in Silicon written by Serwan Asaad and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-19 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear spins are highly coherent quantum objects that were featured in early ideas and demonstrations of quantum information processing. In silicon, the high-fidelity coherent control of a single phosphorus (31-P) nuclear spin I=1/2 has demonstrated record-breaking coherence times, entanglement, and weak measurements. In this thesis, we demonstrate the coherent quantum control of a single antimony (123-Sb) donor atom, whose higher nuclear spin I = 7/2 corresponds to eight nuclear spin states. However, rather than conventional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), we employ nuclear electric resonance (NER) to drive nuclear spin transitions using localized electric fields produced within a silicon nanoelectronic device. This method exploits an idea first proposed in 1961 but never realized experimentally with a single nucleus, nor in a non-polar crystal such as silicon. We then present a realistic proposal to construct a chaotic driven top from the nuclear spin of 123-Sb. Signatures of chaos are expected to arise for experimentally realizable parameters of the system, allowing the study of the relation between quantum decoherence and classical chaos, and the observation of dynamical tunneling. These results show that high-spin quadrupolar nuclei could be deployed as chaotic models, strain sensors, hybrid spin-mechanical quantum systems, and quantum-computing elements using all-electrical controls.
