Book Synopsis The Central Business District by : Raymond E. Murphy
Download or read book The Central Business District written by Raymond E. Murphy and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapidly changing structure of urban social and economic activity in recent years has given rise to a great deal of concern regarding the fate of that area of the city where economic activity is chiefly concentrated: the central business district (CBD). This book, a geographic study of the changing nature of CBDs, represents a concise, well-ordered, and readable attempt to deal with that concern. Written by a widely known authority on the subject, it provides a comprehensive summary and analysis of much of the research done on CBDs over the past two decades and establishes many striking generalizations regarding the past, present and future evolutions of CBDs, both in this country and abroad.Using maps and diagrams where helpful, Murphy, a pioneer researcher in this field from the standpoint of economic geography, provides the record of his own and others' attempts to define CBDs and to develop theories about them. He not only presents the story of the research attack on the CBDs of a number of cities, including estimates of their probable future, but also details a practicable technique for delimiting and studying CBDs.An important feature of the book is the attention Murphy devotes to the valuable work done in this field outside America, and his examples, which fully cover the American experience, are by no means confined to it, taking in important urban centres throughout the world. This book, intended for anyone interested in the urban scene, will be particularly helpful to students and teachers of urban geography and to practicing urban planners.

Book Synopsis Principles of Geographical Offender Profiling by : David Canter
Download or read book Principles of Geographical Offender Profiling written by David Canter and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-03-02 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geographical Offender Profiling (GOP) is the term that has emerged for the examination of where offences take place and the use of that examination to formulate views on the nature of the offender and where s/he might be based. As such, it has become the cornerstone of 'offender profiling'. By its nature, GOP bridges psychology, geography, criminology and forensic science and is of academic interest to all those disciplines as well as practical significance to police investigators. This book brings together a cross-section of the major papers published in the field that lay out the concepts and foundations of this area - including some widely quoted but difficult to obtain 'classic' papers - with an introduction that puts the papers into an overall context and a concluding extensive bibliography of the publications relevant to this rapidly growing area.

Book excerpt: This edited volume is a compilation of the ‘built environment’ in response to many investigations, analyses and sometimes mere observations of the various dialogues and interactions of the built, in context to its ecology, perception and design. The chapters concentrate on various independent issues, integrated as a holistic approach, both in terms of theoretical perspectives and practical approaches, predominantly focusing on the Global South. The book builds fabric knitting into the generic understanding of environment, perception and design encompassing ‘different’ attitudes and inspirations. This book is an important reference to topics concerning urbanism, urban developments and physical growth, and highlights new methodologies and practices. The book presumes an understanding unearthed from various dimensions and again woven back to a common theme, which emerges as the reader reads through. Various international experts of the respective fields working on the Global South contributed their latest research and insights to the different parts of the book. This trans-disciplinary volume appeals to scientists, students and professionals in the fields of architecture, geography, planning, environmental sciences and many more.

Book Synopsis Overview of Hydrogen Related Laws and Regulations in Korea by : Chungkeun Chae
Download or read book Overview of Hydrogen Related Laws and Regulations in Korea written by Chungkeun Chae and published by 미래기준연구소. This book was released on 2022-09-23 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book mainly focuses on the hydrogen-related laws. Chapter 1 deals with the introduction of hydrogen, which is the basis for understanding hydrogen-related laws. The properties of hydrogen, hydrogen-related policies, hydrogen economy, hydrogen and environmental problems, hydrogen distribution, hydrogen safety, and hydrogen- related legal systems are outlined. Chapter 2 deals with the contents of the Hydrogen Act. For each legal provision, the contents of laws, enforcement decree, and enforcement rule are clearly organized in a single table. Chapter 3 deals with the High-pressure Gas Act. Basically, low-pressure hydrogen is regulated by the Hydrogen Act, and high-pressure hydrogen (liquefied gas is 0.2 MPa, compressed gas is 1MPa or above) is regulated by the High-pressure Gas Act. However, it is still challenging to accurately understand the regulations only with the sentences of the law, because of various exceptions. For example, the Hydrogen Act regulates hydrogen products even at high pressure, while the High-pressure Gas Act regulates hydrogen manufacturing facilities even at low pressure. Chapter 4 deals with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Since hydrogen is an explosive gas with a high risk, it is subject to a considerable number of provisions in this Act. This chapter deals with provisions on safety and health education and measures to prevent harm and danger. Chapter 5 summarizes and explains the regulations for each subject of regulation for the convenience of the readers. This chapter summarizes and organizes the regulatory content that hydrogen manufacturers, chargers, storage and users, and hydrogen transporters should know. I
