Download or read book Market Opportunities for Kitchen Cabinets Made from Alaska Hardwoods written by David L. Nicholls and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The kitchen cabinet industry has shown significant growth recently, with expanding residential markets, new cabinet styles, and larger kitchens. This industry represents an opportunity for small Alaska wood producers to create high-value secondary products. The Alaska Wood Utilization R&D Center has conducted numerous studies evaluating consumer preferences for Alaska¿s primary hardwoods -- Alaska birch and red alder. These studies explored consumer preferences under a range of marketing parameters, cabinet appearances, and regional market locations. This paper summarizes these studies and offers insights into the potential market for Alaska¿s hardwoods as secondary wood products such as kitchen cabinets. Color illus.

This book was released on 2007 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guidebook presents the SAFERR (Screening & Assessment for Family Engagement, Retention, & Recovery) model for helping staff of public & private agencies respond to families affected by substance use disorders. The SAFERR model & this guidebook were developed by the Nat. Center on Substance Abuse & Child Welfare (NCSACW), a training & technical assistance resource center. NCSACW developed SAFERR in response to frequent requests from managers of child welfare agencies for a ¿tool¿ that caseworkers could use to screen parents for potential at use disorders in order to make decisions about children¿s safety. Download or read book California Is Still Coming Up Short on Electricity written by Sean Randolph and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite California¿s aggressive response to the 2000-2001 energy crisis & the ongoing work of regulators to reach policy consensus, there is still a meaningful risk that future power supplies will come up short. One of the key drivers of this risk is a highly uncertain investment climate. In addition, the State¿s power policy still has significant flaws that will challenge long-term reliability & will contribute to continued high retail electricity costs for consumers. This paper highlights the risks of a near- to medium-power-supply shortage & sets forth options policy makers have for alleviating these risks. It also identifies the key longer-term challenges that policy makers face in reforming the State¿s power sector. Illustrations.

Download or read book Modeling of Photochemical Reactions in a Focused Laser Beam written by A. K. Gaigalas and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluorescent materials play a prominent role in the measurement of scientific phenomena. Photodegradation of fluorophores is a process that determines the accuracy and sensitivity of such measurements. Recently, illumination consisting of short pulses has been used to examine the decay of photochemical reaction products. However, the time resolved measurements are difficult to interpret since the photodegradation process usually involves multiple time scales. The frequency domain measurement technique discussed here looks at the frequency response of a fluorescent sample to a frequency modulate illuminating light. In the measurements described here, a focused laser beam is used to illuminate a sample of slowly flowing fluorescent solution. Illus.

Download or read book Extracting Electron Densities in N-Type Gaas from Raman Spectra: Theory written by Herbert S. Bennett and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents the theory for calculating Raman line shapes as functions of the Fermi energy and finite temperatures in zinc blende, n-type GaAs for donor densities between 10 to the 16th cm -3 and 10 to the 19th cm -3. Compared to other theories, this theory is unique in two respects: (1) the many-body effects are treated self-consistently; and (2) the theory is valid at room temperature for arbitrary values of the ratio R = (Q to the 2nd/alpha), where Q is the magnitude of the normalization wave vector and alpha is the normalized frequency used in the Raman measurements. These calculations solve the charge neutrality equation self-consistently for a two-band model of GaAs at 300 K that includes the effects of high carrier concentrations and dopant densities on the perturbed densities of states used to calculate the Fermi energy as a function of temperature. Download or read book Domestic Net Migration in the U. S. written by Marc J. Perry and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-04 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Migration is playing a larger role in population redistribution within the U.S. With birth & death rates currently low & largely similar across the country, natural increase (the excess of births over deaths) exerts less influence than it used to in explaining why some regions, states, or counties have faster population growth than others. This report describes recent patterns of population redistribution reflected in the domestic net migration component of population estimates data. Analysis focuses on net migration for a number of different kinds of geographic areas, including regions, divisions, states, metropolitan & micropolitan statistical areas, & counties. Charts & tables.
