Book Synopsis Applied Coal Petrology by : Isabel Suárez-Ruiz
Download or read book Applied Coal Petrology written by Isabel Suárez-Ruiz and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An understanding of basic coal properties is important for achieving reductions in trace element emissions and improving the efficiency of combustion and combined-cycle gasification. The production of methane from coal beds is related to the properties of the in situ coal. Similarly, coal bed sequestration of carbon dioxide produced from combustion is dependent on the reservoir properties. Environmental problems accompany coal on its way from the mine to the point of utilization and beyond. Health aspects related with coal mining and coal utilization are also included because, in planning for coal use, it is impossible to separate environmental and health issues from the discussion of coal utilization. The book is aimed at a wide audience, ranging from researchers, lecturers and students to professionals in industry and discusses issues (such as the environmental, and health) that are of concern to the general public as a whole.-
Book Synopsis Fischer-Tropsch Technology by : André Steynberg
Download or read book Fischer-Tropsch Technology written by André Steynberg and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-10-30 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fischer-Tropsch Technology is a unique book for its state-of-the-art approach to Fischer Tropsch (FT) technology. This book provides an explanation of the basic principles and terminology that are required to understand the application of FT technology. It also contains comprehensive references to patents and previous publications. As the first publication to focus on theory and application, it is a contemporary reference source for students studying chemistry and chemical engineering. Researchers and engineers active in the development of FT technology will also find this book an invaluable source of information. * Is the first publication to cover the theory and application for modern Fischer Tropsch technology * Contains comprehensive knowledge on all aspects relevant to the application of Fischer Tropsch technology* No other publication looks at past, present and future applications

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the lectures presented at the Advanced Study Institute on "Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Catalytic Solid Fuel Conversion for the Production of aean Synthetic Fuels" which was held at Ak~;ay, Edremit, Tiirkiye, between July 21 and August 3, 1991. The book includes 23 chapters originally written for the meeting by distinguished scientists an technologists in the field. l would like to acknowledge the contribution of each of the authors in the book. Their efforts have shed light on our understanding in coal science research and better utilization of coal. Three main subjects: structure and reactivity of coal; cleaning of coal and its products, and factors affecting environmental balance of energy usage and solutions for future, were discussed in the Institute and these are presented under six groups in the book. I hope that of great use to research workers from academic and industrial background. the book will be Many people contributed to the success of the Institute on which this volume was based. I take this occasion to thank my colleagues who lectured in the Institute, both for their efforts during the two weeks and their expertly prepared lecture notes that reached to me in time. The Institute was generously sponsored by the Scientific and Environmental Affairs Dh·ision of the NATO and their contribution is deeply acknowledged.

Book Synopsis Catalyst Deactivation 1987 by : G.F. Froment
Download or read book Catalyst Deactivation 1987 written by G.F. Froment and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1987-09-01 with total page 681 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Symposium on Catalyst Deactivation ensues those held at Berkeley (1985), Antwerp (1980) and Berkeley (1978).The three main topics emphasised at this most recent symposium were: the techniques used in deactivation studies, the mechanisms of catalyst deactivation, and modelling. With respect to the first, it became apparent that the study of deactivation faces even more difficulties than the characterization of fresh catalysts and the measurement of activity or selectivity, due to the multiplicity of interacting processes occurring during deactivation. Quite substantial progress has been made recently in the understanding of the mechanisms of various deactivation processes, particularly coking, and extra time was accorded to these topics at the symposium. The third topic corresponds to a problem which is very central to development studies and to the chemical engineering aspect of catalysis: it deals with the representativity of accelerated tests and the modelling of the deactivation phenomena.
