Book excerpt: There are many questions which arise regarding this figure known as "Antichrist." Is it a force, a religious system, or an actual person who is in view? If it is a person, is he a mere human being, or is he a supernatural character, perhaps even the offspring of the devil himself! Has this person already appeared on the stage of history, or should we expect to see him in the future? What does the Bible have to say about these questions? These matters have been debated throughout the centuries. Indeed, there is tremendous curiosity and fascination among believers and non-believers alike on this subject of Antichrist. Fortunately, the Bible gives us much detail about the origin, background, evil character, inglorious career and eventual doom of the coming final Antichrist, the coming Caesar. This book will look at what Scripture has to say about this personage. Our goal is to discover exactly how we should understand the biblical references to the Antichrist. Our Focus Is Upon Jesus The ultimate goal, however, is not to focus on Antichrist, but rather upon Jesus Christ. Antichrist will appear for only a short time while our relationship with Jesus Christ will last forever. Consequently, we should always have this eternal perspective as we study this subject. With this in mind, let us now look at what the Bible has to say about "The Final Antichrist: The Coming Caesar."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Antichrist, though mentioned a mere four times in the Bible, and then only obscurely, has exercised a tight hold on popular imagination throughout history. This has been particularly true in the U.S., says author Robert C. Fuller, where Americans have tended to view our nation as uniquely blessed by God--a belief that leaves us especially prone to demonizing our enemies. In Naming the Antichrist, Fuller takes us on a fascinating journey through the dark side of the American religious psyche, from the earliest American colonists right up to contemporary fundamentalists such as Pat Robertson and Hal Lindsey. Fuller begins by offering a brief history of the idea of the Antichrist and its origins in the apocalyptic thought in the Judeo-Christian tradition, and traces the eventual 71Gws how the colonists saw Antichrist personified in native Americans and French Catholics, in Anne Hutchinson, Roger Williams, and the witches of Salem, in the Church of England and the King. He looks at the Second Great Awakening in the early nineteenth century, showing how such prominent Americans as Yale president Timothy Dwight and the Reverend Jedidiah Morse (father of Samuel Morse) saw the work of the Antichrist in phenomena ranging from the French Revolution to Masonry. In the twentieth century, he finds a startling array of hate-mongers--from Gerald Winrod (who vilified Roosevelt as a pawn of the Antichrist) to the Ku Klux Klan--who drew on apocalyptic imagery in their attacks on Jews, Catholics, blacks, socialists, and others. Finally, Fuller considers contemporary fundamentalist writers such as Hal Lindsey (author of The Late Great Planet Earth, with some 19 million copies sold), Mary Stewart Relfe (whose candidates for the Antichrist have included such figures as Henry Kissinger, Pope John Paul II, and Anwar Sadat), and a host of others who have found Antichrist in the sinister guise of the European Economic Community, the National Council of Churches, feminism, New Age religions, and even supermarket barcodes and fibre optics (the latter functioning as "the eye of the Antichrist"). Throughout, Fuller reveals in vivid detail how our unique American obsession with the Antichrist reflects the struggle to understand ourselves--and our enemies--within the mythic context of the battle of absolute good versus absolute evil. From the Scofield Reference Bible (no other book had greater impact on the American Antichrist tradition) to the Scopes Monkey Trial, Fuller provides an informative and often startling look at a thread that weaves persistently throughout American religious and cultural life.

Book excerpt: "History established the pattern through world floods, Egyptian plagues, tribulations of all kinds. God leads his people through life's disasters, not around them. First the Antichrist rejects the pretribulation rapture scenario that God will open an escape route so Christians will be spared persecution. Rather, in a complex chain of events Christ will gather the church out of the world only after seven years of intense suffering, when Christ returns to rule. In this close study of church history and debated Bible texts, Bob Gundry shows that the pretribulation rapture is a recent innovation. It is wishful thinking that came to grab the pre-millennial spotlight. But serious scholars are backing away. It just doesn't accord with what the Bible says. In First the Antichrist, Gundry lays out a more biblical (and accurate) picture. First the Antichrist is a much needed contribution to apocryphal and pre-millennial prophecy studies."--Midwest Book Review

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The following demonstration is rested on no narrow basis. Its two postulates, like two posterns, admit us into the edifice, but they are not its foundations. The whole economy of Redemption, and the whole course of History are the broad substructions on which the argument is based and built up; and the author humbly submits that it cannot be overturned, or the conclusion arrived at set aside, without dislocating and shaking the structure of both Revelation and providence. The same line of proof which establishes that Christ is the promised Messiah, conversely applied, establishes that the Roman system is the predicted Apostacy. In the life of Christ we behold the converse of what the Antichrist must be; and in the prophecy of the Antichrist we are shown the converse of what Christ must be, and was. And when we place the Papacy between the two, and compare it with each, we find, on the one hand, that it is the perfect converse of Christ as seen in His life; and, on the other, that it is the perfect image of the Antichrist, as shown in the prophecy if him. We conclude, therefore, that if Jesus of Nazareth be the Christ, the Roman Papacy is the Antichrist.

Book excerpt: This book that you're holding in your hands will do what it was said about the two olive trees in Revelation and believe it, what is written in it will torment the inhabitants of the earth, just like it is described in the book of Revelation. I am not a theologian, but in this book you will find all the evidences, all the necessary proofs, which expose the true face of the antichrist, the true face of the devil, the one Jesus talked about in Matthew 13, 39. "And the enemy who sows them is the devil." In this book you will also find the name of the beast, finally. Name that millions have tried in vain to identify. The devil sowed the lies, but we have believed in them despite all of Jesus and his disciples' warnings and this causes our lost. Only the key of the kingdom of heaven that Jesus gave to Peter, the truth, the word of God can save us. Read very carefully 2 Thessalonians 2, 10. "They perish because they refused to love the truth and to be saved." If you really have love for the truth, you will read; The True Face of The Antichrist to the end, even though it is very shocking and troubling as you have never been, but remember one thing, it is for your own salvation. I already have my salvation, because I saw and I believed the truth and I have accepted it. So, I wish you the same joy, the same happiness. The truth that is in this book is a knife straight to the heart of the beast. The more it will be sold and the more the truth will be known and accepted, the more the beast will be destroyed. What gives the power to the beast are the ignorance and the hypocricy of its members. The beast has its foundation on lies and this is why it will be destroyed by the truth, by the word of God, just like the prophecy says. See 2 Thessalonians 2, 8. "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth (the word of God) and destroy by the splendor of his coming." James Prince

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if the commonly held beliefs concerning the Antichrist are mistaken? The Antichrist and the Second Coming looks at the Antichrist and the Second Advent of Christ from a preterist (i.e., past fulfillment) perspective and provides a unified interpretation of the little horn, the prince to come, the king of the North, the man of lawlessness, and the beast. This is the second in a two volume set on the Antichrist; it focuses on the book of Revelation. This edition stands on its own and is recommended reading even if you have not read the first volume (which focuses on Daniel and 2 Thessalonians). McKenzie shows how the Antichrist was ultimately a spiritual ruler from the abyss (Rev. 11:7) that worked through Titus in his three-and-a-half-year destruction of the Jewish nation (AD 67-70; cf. Dan. 9:26). This spirit of Antichrist was about to come out of the abyss in the first century (Rev. 17:8 NASB) and was destroyed by the Second Advent of Jesus in AD 70 (a spiritual event). Continue reading to see how McKenzie convincingly makes the biblical case for this fascinating and controversial position, and what it means for us today. Dr. Duncan McKenzie is a licensed psychologist (Ph.D. in psychology) who lives in Los Angeles, California. He has been studying Bible prophecy for the past twenty-five years and has been researching and writing this two volume set for the last twelve years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hippolytus of Rome (170–235) was the most important 3rd-century theologian in the Christian Church in Rome, where he was probably born. Photios I of Constantinople describes him in his Bibliotheca (cod. 121) as a disciple of Irenaeus, who was said to be a disciple of Polycarp, and from the context of this passage it is supposed that he suggested that Hippolytus himself so styled himself. However, this assertion is doubtful. He came into conflict with the popes of his time and seems to have headed a schismatic group as a rival Bishop of Rome. For that reason he is sometimes considered the first antipope. He opposed the Roman bishops who softened the penitential system to accommodate the large number of new pagan converts. However, he was very probably reconciled to the Church when he died as a martyr. Starting in the 4th century, various legends arose about him, identifying him as a priest of the Novatianist schism or as a soldier converted by Saint Lawrence. He has also been confused with another martyr of the same name. Ironically, it is Pius IV who identifies him as "Saint Hippolytus, Bishop of Pontus" who was martyred in the reign of Alexander Severus through his inscription on a statue found at the Church of St. Lawrence in Rome and kept at the Vatican as photographed and published in Brunsen.

Book excerpt: “And then shall that Wicked be revealed...” 2 Thessalonians 2:8 In his third book in a series that includes The Timing of the Rapture and Is the United States Mentioned in Bible Prophecy: With a Treatise on the Ezekiel 38 and psalm 83 wars, Paul Wild addresses the incorrect views regarding the antichrist’s origin and characteristics. Much of the speculation regarding the identity of the pivotal person in end-times prophecy has hinged more on identifying powerful, influential men who are perceived as evil rather than uncovering the subtle details of his persona. Paul will: Identify his country of origin and his religious and cultural background Provide details on his physical and intellectual traits Provide details on the timing of his arrival and speculation on his age at that time Challenge the focus on Rome and Europe as his seat of power and place the focus on the Middle East Settle the argument on who Magog is from the Ezekiel 38-39 war narrative and how that war affects the rise and fall of modern nations leading to his ascension Show that the last three yearly Feasts of Israel set the pattern for the rapture of the Church, the repentance of Israel, the ruination of the antichrist, and the return of Jesus. This book is designed to provide the tools for the Body of Christ to identify the wicked man before he emerges on the world scene in order to prepare for the chaos that follows.

Book excerpt: The most important New Testament prophecy is also the most neglected and the least understood, despite our Lord's command to "know and understand it." See Matthew 24:15. "The abomination standing in the holy place" launches the tribulation such as never was, bringing a worldwide Calvary that threatens to annihilate the Christian church. This scenario is also discussed by Paul the Apostle in 2 Thessalonians 2 under the title of the "man of sin," the Antichrist who sits in the temple of God at present restrained by the mysterious "hinderer." This book is written for the layperson longing to know what the Bible actually teaches about the future and what will happen at the end of time. In it Dr. Ford describes Antichrist's nature and work and clarifies the gospel of Justification by Faith that Antichrist seeks to destroy.
