Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrated artist and lead character designer of Brave, Ratatouille, and Despicable Me, Carter Goodrich, shows that sometimes, even the prickliest people—or the crankiest cacti—need a little love. Hank is the prickliest cactus in the entire world. He sits in a pot in a window that faces the empty desert, which is just how he likes it. So, when all manner of creatures—from tumbleweed to lizard to owl—come to disturb his peace, Hank is annoyed. He doesn’t like noise, he doesn’t like rowdiness, and definitely does not like hugs. But the thing is, no one is offering one. Who would want to hug a plant so mean? Hank is beginning to discover that being alone can be, well, lonely. So he comes up with a plan to get the one thing he thought he would never need: a hug from a friend.

Book excerpt: “You haven’t forgiven me?” he looked at her. “Nothing to forgive,” she said. “You were being yourself. So was I. No point in having any regrets. We were young.” “We are still young,” he said. They looked at each other and smiled. He squeezed her palm gently. It had started as a simple date. A first date for both of them. An evening meetup on the college campus. A walk, conversations, unplanned incidents, a couple of memories made. Four years on the same campus. A journey through break-ups and reunions, navigating social life and crushes, the push and pull of academics, activities, events, personalities and ambitions, and the innate quest of their age—a quest for a special relationship. At the centre of this journey was the sustenance of that first spark of love. Through time and moments, closeness and drifting apart, and then circumstances and events conspiring to renew that flame. Each reunion bringing strength, purpose and maturity into planning futures together. All these against the backdrop kaleidoscope of the sights, sounds, colour and sensory adventures of a vibrant, youthful college campus. A story that will transport the reader back to their university days as though it were some kind of nostalgia-powered time machine.
Book Synopsis CACTUS Air Power At Guadalcanal by : Major Timothy L. Clubb
Download or read book CACTUS Air Power At Guadalcanal written by Major Timothy L. Clubb and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examines the role of the CACTUS Air Force during the battle for Guadalcanal. Hurriedly planned and executed, Guadalcanal was the first U.S. ground offensive in the Pacific. Starting as an unopposed amphibious assault, the operation turned into a six-month-long air, land, and sea battle to secure the island. Operating from an expeditionary airfield, the U.S. Marine Corps employed air power as its primary means of defending the island. The CACTUS Air Force conducted the campaign with limited air assets and was plagued by a variety of critical shortages, yet it managed to play a key role in the U.S. victory. This study focuses on the specific contributions of airpower during this campaign. It examines the role of air power in reconnaissance, deep, close, and rear area air operations. It also examines the factors that influenced how air assets were employed and the changes in U.S. concepts about air operations that were made to conduct the air campaign. CACTUS planes assisted in defeating several major Japanese attacks. However, the daily presence and routine operations of the CACTUS Air Force were its key contributions. CACTUS Air’s most important contribution was its ability to deny the Japanese air superiority and disrupt their freedom of action in the lower Solomon Islands.
