The country that they have done the most explorations in is France, where over the years, they have visited practically every part of the country, including numerous visits to Paris. Hugh considers that he knows the map of Paris as well as the map of the city where he lives, Dublin. The book tells of her early days growing up in a Dublin that was radically different from the present day city. It narrates her career, which was spent entirely in the Irish foreign service, at the headquarters of what is now the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and tells of the many world dignitaries she met, from John F. Kennedy to Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco. The book also details her marriage to Hugh Oram-theyve now been married for 45 years-and all the travel and other adventures theyve had together. Bernadette is a truly remarkable woman and this is her story.

This book was released on 2022-04 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rich with unpublished material and detailed insight, Rhythms of Feeling offers a new reading of three of the most celebrated poets: Edward Lear, T.S. Eliot, and Stevie Smith. Tracing exciting lines of interplay, affinity, and influence between these writers for the first time, the book shifts the terms of critical debate on Lear, Eliot, and Smith and subtly reorients the traditional account of the genealogies of Modernism. Going beyond a biographically-framed close reading or a more general analysis framed by affect theory, the volume traces these poets' 'affective rhythms' (fits, tears, nerves) to consider the way that poetics, the mental and physical process of writing and reading, and the ebbs and flows of their emotional weather might be in dialogue. Attentive, acute, and often forensic, the book broadens its reach to contemporary writers and medical accounts of creativity and cognition. Alongside deep critical study, this volume seeks to bring emotional intelligence to criticism, finding ways of speaking lucidly and humanely about emotional and physical states that defy lucidity and stretch our sense of the human.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sister Lucy Hennessy, a member of the Servants of the Mother of God, became interested in her family history after her parents died. With both of them gone, she wanted to connect with the relatives that walked the roads she walked, prayed in the church she prayed in, and who, in some cases, went to the school she attended. What were their names? Where were they born? What were their hopes and dreams? She explores those questions and more in this family history, revealing a hardworking, Irish-Catholic family who lovingly and courageously passed on the deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done. They toiled and labored in difficult times and lived out their lives doing routine tasks. They were men and women like us who lived ordinary lives and struggled with ordinary problems – and in some cases, very difficult problems. This book presents a history, including documents and photos, of the author’s parents (Patrick Reardon Hennessy and Annie Murphy Donovan), their parents and grandparents, and sketches of other family members. Pause and reflect on your own family and its wonderful history as the author delves into the past to reveal the glory of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cultural heritage communities of interest have increasingly expanded from cultural heritage professionals to volunteers, special interest groups and independent citizen-led initiative groups. Digital technology has also increasingly impacted cultural heritage by affording novel experiences of it – it features in a number of activities for all the aforementioned groups, as well as acting as support for visitors to cultural heritage centres. With different degrees of formality and training, these communities are increasingly defining and taking ownership of what is of value to them, thus reconfiguring the care, communication, interpretation and validation of heritage. Digital technology has played a crucial role in this transformative process. In a fully international context, cultural heritage practitioners, community champions and academics from different fields of study have contributed to this book. Each chapter brings to the fore the multiple relationships between heritage, communities and technologies as a focus of study and reflection in an inclusive way. Contributions touch upon present and future opportunities for technology, as well as participatory design processes with different stakeholders. This book brings together ideas from different disciplines, cultures, methods and goals, to inspire scholars and practitioners involved in community heritage projects.
