Book Synopsis Encyclopedia Of Freemasonry by : Albert G. Mackey
Download or read book Encyclopedia Of Freemasonry written by Albert G. Mackey and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2013-10-24 with total page 5797 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Albert G. Mackey, also the author of The Lexicon of Freemasonry appears as author of this " Encyclopedia of Freemasonry and its Kindred Sciences," which, being a library in inself, superseded most of the Masonic works which have been tolerated by the craft—chiefly because none better could be obtained. Here, in one giant volume is a work which fulfils the hope which sustained the author through ten years' literary labor, that, under one cover he "would furnish every Mason who might consult its pages the means of acquiring a knowledge of all matters connected with the science, the philosophy, and the history of his order." For more than thirty years Dr. Mackey has devoted earnest and constant study and research to the history, the objects, and the condition of Masonry. In the present work, the crowning and successful result of a life's labors, he has received no assistance from any one. He says, " Every article was written by myself," and he adds, which would extenuate errors, had he fallen into any, "For twelve months, too, of the time occupied upon this work, I suffered from an affection of the sight, which forbade all use of the eyes for purposes of study. During that time, now happily passed, all authorities were consulted by the willing eyes of my daughters—all writing was done by their hands. I realized for a time the picture so often painted of the blind bard dictating his sublime verses to his daughters," and his preface closes with the words, "Were I to dedicate this work at all, my dedication should be—To Filial Affection." Up to the present time the modern literature of Freemasonry has been diffuse, lumbering, unreliable, and, out of all reasonable proportions.

Book Synopsis Ritual America by : Craig Heimbichner
Download or read book Ritual America written by Craig Heimbichner and published by Feral House. This book was released on 2012-03-06 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Adam Parfrey is one of the nation's most provocative publishers."—Seattle Weekly "Secret society historian Craig Heimbichner follows the Middle Path to wisdom. He works the graveyard shift in the secret lodge."—Joan d'Arc, Paranoia magazine Secret societies—now a staple of bestseller novels—are pictured as sinister cults that use hooded albinos to menace truth-seekers. Some conspiracy books claim that fraternal orders are the work of serpentine aliens and interbred humans who wish to supplant earth of its energy, and later, its very existence. On the other side of the aisle, books by high-ranked Freemasons—skeptical in tone but no less partisan in approach—protect their organization's public image by denying the existence of its most contentious ideas. Ritual America reveals the biggest secret of them all: that the influence of fraternal brotherhoods on this country is vast, fundamental, and hidden in plain view. In the early twentieth century, as many as one-third of America belonged to a secret society. And though fezzes and tiny car parades are almost a thing of the past, the Gnostic beliefs of Masonic orders are now so much a part of the American mind that the surrounding pomp and circumstance has become faintly unnecessary. The authors of Ritual America contextualize hundreds of rare and many never-before printed images with entertaining and far-reaching commentary, making an esoteric subject provocative, exciting, and approachable. Adam Parfrey is the author of Cult Rapture: Revelations of the Apocalyptic Mind and It's a Man's World: Men's Adventure Magazines, the Postwar Pulps. He is editor of the influential Apocalypse Culture series Love, Sex, Fear Death: The Inside Story of the Process Church of the Final Judgment. Craig Heimbichner has recently appeared on a National Geographic documentary about the Bohemian Grove, contributed to the Feral House compilation Secret and Suppressed II, and wrote about the famous occult order the O.T.O. in Blood and Altar.
Book Synopsis The Ku Klux Klan and Freemasonry in 1920s America by : Miguel Hernandez
Download or read book The Ku Klux Klan and Freemasonry in 1920s America written by Miguel Hernandez and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-06 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Ku Klux Klan’s success in the 1920s remains one of the order’s most enduring mysteries. Emerging first as a brotherhood dedicated to paying tribute to the original Southern organization of the Reconstruction period, the Second Invisible Empire developed into a mass movement with millions of members that influenced politics and culture throughout the early 1920s. This study explores the nature of fraternities, especially the overlap between the Klan and Freemasonry. Drawing on many previously untouched archival resources, it presents a detailed and nuanced analysis of the development and later decline of the Klan and the complex nature of its relationship with the traditions of American fraternalism.

Book Synopsis A Templar Monitor by : George Connor
Download or read book A Templar Monitor written by George Connor and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-26 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book faithfully reproduces a handwritten book discovered in the archives of a Masonic Templar Commandery in Tennessee. Written in 1882 by George Cooper Connor, then Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Tennessee, it was an attempt too put together a definitive set of rituals for the three Masonic Templar Orders, being the Order of the Red Cross, the Order of Malta and the Order of the Temple. Although the Grand Encampment had already existed for over a century, the rituals had still not been finalized and imposed on the Grand Commanderies.Drawing from English, Scottish, Irish and Canadian Rituals, Connor assembled a series of rituals using 'best of breed' from the other existing rituals. He ran them past a number of luminaries of the time, including McLeod Moore of Canada, obtaining both their approbation and admiration for his work. Unfortunately the work was not adopted by Grand Encampment, and we learn something of the political machinations which led to this fact. Three years later Grand Encampment came out with their own definitive rituals, and the work of Connor was relegated to history. The notebook is handwritten in beautiful script, and lavishly illustrated with line drawing which were hand-colored by watercolors. The pages were professionally scanned by the Chancellor Livingston Masonic Library in Manhattan, NY, and then transcribed by Piers A. Vaughan. The book is laid out with a facsimile of the original page on one side and the modern transliteration on the other, which has been supplemented by original artwork by Steven Adams. The tome contains a number of explanatory articles and also notes of the funeral of Connor, which also tells us that his reputation extended as far as the United Kingdom, where his demise was regretted by many senior Freemasons. The cover simulates the original cover, which is in dark faded leather, with wording tooled in gold leaf.
