Book Synopsis Time Travel in Einstein's Universe by : J. Richard Gott
Download or read book Time Travel in Einstein's Universe written by J. Richard Gott and published by HMH. This book was released on 2015-08-25 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Princeton astrophysicist explores whether journeying to the past or future is scientifically possible in this “intriguing” volume (Neil deGrasse Tyson). It was H. G. Wells who coined the term “time machine”—but the concept of time travel, both forward and backward, has always provoked fascination and yearning. It has mostly been dismissed as an impossibility in the world of physics; yet theories posited by Einstein, and advanced by scientists including Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne, suggest that the phenomenon could actually occur. Building on these ideas, J. Richard Gott, a professor who has written on the subject for Scientific American, Time, and other publications, describes how travel to the future is not only possible but has already happened—and contemplates whether travel to the past is also conceivable. This look at the surprising facts behind the science fiction of time travel “deserves the attention of anyone wanting wider intellectual horizons” (Booklist). “Impressively clear language. Practical tips for chrononauts on their options for travel and the contingencies to prepare for make everything sound bizarrely plausible. Gott clearly enjoys his subject and his excitement and humor are contagious; this book is a delight to read.” —Publishers Weekly

Book Synopsis Poverty Reduction for Inclusive Sustainable Growth in Developing Asia by : Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary
Download or read book Poverty Reduction for Inclusive Sustainable Growth in Developing Asia written by Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-15 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides practical policy recommendations that are useful for developing Asia and for accelerating poverty reduction plans in the rest of the world. Poverty reduction in all its forms remains one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. In developing Asia, rapid growth in countries and sub-regions such as China, India, and Southeast Asia has lifted millions out of poverty, but progress has been uneven. On the other hand, the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the global economic recession that it has caused are pushing millions of people back into poverty. Poverty reduction, inclusive growth, and sustainable development are inseparable, and poverty reduction is the premise for sustainable development. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a bold commitment to finish what we started and end poverty in all forms and dimensions by 2030. However, because of the current global recession, the world is not on track to end poverty by 2030. Given the aforementioned situation, if we plan to achieve the no-poverty target in line with the SDGs, governments need to reconsider their policies and economies need to allocate their resources for this aim. Owing to the importance of the topic, this book provides several thematic and empirical studies on the roles of small and medium-sized enterprises, local businesses and trusts, international remittances and microfinance, energy security and energy efficiency in poverty reduction, and inclusive growth.

Download or read book Ti, Hypershear written by S. R. Jaborsky and published by Gypsy Shadow Publishing. This book was released on 2019-10-11 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most countries on Earth seem to be involved in a revolutionary space project. Roy Blain, reporter for Worldwide Newsgroup and his friend, Professor William ‘Wild Bill’ Taylor, suspect the low earth ion powered orbiter tagged ‘VIP’ is much more than advertised. Their investigation leads to more questions than answers. Could an Earth at last united in cause be looking for an enhanced pathway to the stars? Or is the entire Project VIP a fraud for a much more sinister purpose? The notion of a Rosolite influence cannot be discarded. The return of Seron and her cousin Quillian of the revered House of Ti, more than 70 years after Seron’s last visit to Earth, prompts Blain, Taylor, Seron and Quillian to embark on a dangerous race to stop an experiment that could disrupt the entire Solar System.
