Book excerpt: The woman in Revelation 12 is somewhat of a mystery because the Holy Bible only gives a snippet about the woman, and a lot of folks have their own interpretation, but I have a theory too. I myself never gave the woman too much thought until 2012 because the Book of Revelation is hard to understand. However, God provided me with the tools, clues, and signs that I needed to help me understand the woman and her struggles. I also believe when folks think about people of the Bible, they donaEUR(tm)t think about someone in the here and now, only in the past. I too had that same mind frame until God allowed Jesus Christ to open my heart and show me the signs that opened my mind. Here are a few things that were placed in my hands to help me understand. These books called Warning! Revelation Is About To Be Revealed, Understanding the End of Times, and Revelation Explained at Last! I happen to believe that weaEUR(tm)re living in the times of the Book of Revelation because I just feel it in my spirit; and the way we treat each other, itaEUR(tm)s very unsettling. I see our world is becoming like a volcano thataEUR(tm)s getting ready to erupt. I feel that way because I see the lack of kindness, compassion, and empathy that we humans have for one another, and itaEUR(tm)s getting worse every day. In Matthew 24:15, it talks about aEURoeThe Great Tribulation.aEUR It states, aEURoeTherefore when you see the aEUR~abomination of desolation,aEUR(tm)aEUR which means emptiness. ThataEUR(tm)s because our world is dying and itaEUR(tm)s coming to a close because humanity is dying, and without humanity, thereaEUR(tm)s no life or world. Also, in Revelation 12, it spoke about the woman being persecuted, and it has helped me to understand some strange and hurtful things. That has happened to me by my family and others in my life, so I do believe IaEUR(tm)m the woman in Revelation 12. You can believe it or not.

Join the Random House Reader’s Circle for author chats and more. In boyhood, Louis Zamperini was an incorrigible delinquent. As a teenager, he channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics. But when World War II began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to a doomed flight on a May afternoon in 1943. When his Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean, against all odds, Zamperini survived, adrift on a foundering life raft. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will. Book excerpt: Marley meets...Cujo?A dog down the block is being forced to live outside, at the mercy of abusers, wild animals and brutal weather. The author does nothing-at first. Then, an accidental meeting with Lance, a Border Collie, sets the wheels in motion for a life-saving rescue and a disappointing discovery: Lance turns out to be a semi-feral dog. During the first twenty-four hours of his liberation, he attacks both the author and his wife, and soon proves to be a threat to anyone he can get his teeth on. His rescuers ask themselves: Do we euthanize the dog we rescued? Making their soul-searching even more difficult is Lance's alter ego; when not threatening, he's getting into all kinds of highly entertaining mischief. Among the many "victims" of his hilarious quirkiness are a State Trooper, the local school bus driver, and a neighborhood drug dealer. This rollicking and-at times-heart-wrenching, true-life account of the unorthodox rescue of an unorthodox dog has been called "riveting," "spellbinding," and "jaw-dropping." Lance's compelling story reveals as much about the rescuers as it does the rescued. Lance: A Spirit Unbroken is a book for any reader looking to have her or his faith in the human race restored.
Book Synopsis Whisperings of an Eternal Twilight by : Rutika Pandya
Download or read book Whisperings of an Eternal Twilight written by Rutika Pandya and published by True Dreamster. This book was released on 2020-03-22 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twilight has always been a time that has been of utmost uncertainty for me. A transition of a full-fledged day into the darkness welcoming my favorite stars. So many hues conjure a welcome stage for the night. No wonder the dawn is equally mesmerizing, but I am not at all a morning person and dawn is pretty much a haze for me. So, the twilight. I always wish for it to stretch a minute longer so that I could observe tiny birds returning home and settling into the silhouettes of trees; office-goers and commuters returning to the warmth of their families. Twilight, a predecessor to dusk is a bridge that connects a harsh day to a homely night. How a previously circulating sand tires itself out and settles noiselessly onto the sleeping ground, readying itself for yet another day. That is why the title attempts, in vain, to shelter the twilight a little longer for this short book to be read while the birds return to their humble nests and rest till dawn.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The renowned oral historian interviews ordinary people about facing mortality: “It’s the unguarded voices he presents that stay with you.” —The New York Times In this book, the Pulitzer Prize winner and National Book Award finalist Studs Terkel, author of the New York Times bestseller Working, turns to the ultimate human experience: death. Here a wide range of people address the unknowable culmination of our lives, the possibilities of an afterlife, and their impact on the way we live, with memorable grace and poignancy. Included in this remarkable treasury are Terkel’s interviews with such famed figures as Kurt Vonnegut and Ira Glass as well as with ordinary people, from policemen and firefighters to emergency health workers and nurses, who confront death in their everyday lives. Whether a Hiroshima survivor, a death-row parolee, or a woman who emerged from a two-year coma, these interviewees offer tremendous eloquence as they deal with a topic many are reluctant to discuss openly and freely. Only Terkel, whom Cornel West called “an American treasure,” could have elicited such honesty from people reflecting on the lives they have led and what lies before them still. “Extraordinary . . . a work of insight, wisdom, and freshness.” —The Seattle Times

Download or read book Never Broken written by Jewel and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-09-20 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Jewel is a truth-teller…this is a book that lingers in your heart.” – Brené Brown *The New York Times bestseller* New York Times bestselling poet and multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jewel explores her unconventional upbringing and extraordinary life in an inspirational memoir that covers her childhood to fame, marriage, and motherhood. When Jewel’s first album, Pieces of You, topped the charts in 1995, her emotional voice and vulnerable performance were groundbreaking. Drawing comparisons to Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, a singer-songwriter of her kind had not emerged in decades. Now, with more than thirty million albums sold worldwide, Jewel tells the story of her life, and the lessons learned from her experience and her music. Living on a homestead in Alaska, Jewel learned to yodel at age five, and joined her parents’ entertainment act, working in hotels, honky-tonks, and biker bars. Behind a strong-willed family life with an emphasis on music and artistic talent, however, there was also instability, abuse, and trauma. At age fifteen, she moved out and tasked herself with a mission: to see if she could avoid being the kind of statistic that her past indicated for her future. Soon after, she was accepted to the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, and there she began writing her own songs as a means of expressing herself and documenting her journey to find happiness. Jewel was eighteen and homeless in San Diego when a radio DJ aired a bootleg version of one of her songs and it was requested into the top-ten countdown, something unheard-of for an unsigned artist. By the time she was twenty-one, her debut had gone multiplatinum. There is much more to Jewel’s story, though, one complicated by family legacies, by crippling fear and insecurity, and by the extraordinary circumstances in which she managed to flourish and find happiness despite these obstacles. Along her road of self-discovery, learning to redirect her fate, Jewel has become an iconic singer and songwriter. In Never Broken she reflects on how she survived, and how writing songs, poetry, and prose has saved her life many times over. She writes lyrically about the natural wonders of Alaska, about pain and loss, about the healing power of motherhood, and about discovering her own identity years after the entire world had discovered the beauty of her songs.
