ENRI 5 is a book written and compiled of memoirs by five sisters who journal through lifes trials and tribulations overcoming the stigma and obstacles of child abuse and poverty that would create havoc in their lives. In the beginning eight children had hoped for love from a man who failed them, with broken wings and wounded hearts each one of them would grow up to face the battlefields in their own lives.
Book Synopsis Van Gogh's Ear by : Bernadette Murphy
Download or read book Van Gogh's Ear written by Bernadette Murphy and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. This book was released on 2016-07-12 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The best-known and most sensational event in Vincent van Gogh’s life is also the least understood. For more than a century, biographers and historians seeking definitive facts about what happened on a December night in Arles have unearthed more questions than answers. Why would an artist at the height of his powers commit such a brutal act? Who was the mysterious “Rachel” to whom he presented his macabre gift? Did he use a razor or a knife? Was it just a segment—or did Van Gogh really lop off his entire ear? In Van Gogh’s Ear, Bernadette Murphy reveals, for the first time, the true story of this long-misunderstood incident, sweeping away decades of myth and giving us a glimpse of a troubled but brilliant artist at his breaking point. Murphy’s detective work takes her from Europe to the United States and back, from the holdings of major museums to the moldering contents of forgotten archives. She braids together her own thrilling journey of discovery with a narrative of Van Gogh’s life in Arles, the sleepy Provençal town where he created his finest work, and vividly reconstructs the world in which he moved—the madams and prostitutes, café patrons and police inspectors, shepherds and bohemian artists. We encounter Van Gogh’s brother and benefactor Theo, his guest and fellow painter Paul Gauguin, and many local subjects of Van Gogh’s paintings, some of whom Murphy identifies for the first time. Strikingly, Murphy uncovers previously unknown information about “Rachel”—and uses it to propose a bold new hypothesis about what was occurring in Van Gogh’s heart and mind as he made a mysterious delivery to her doorstep. As it reopens one of art history’s most famous cold cases, Van Gogh’s Ear becomes a fascinating work of detection. It is also a study of a painter creating his most iconic and revolutionary work, pushing himself ever closer to greatness even as he edged toward madness—and one fateful sweep of the blade that would resonate through the ages.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Assessment in Childhood Psychopathology by : Cynthia L. Frame
Download or read book Handbook of Assessment in Childhood Psychopathology written by Cynthia L. Frame and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most important practical problems in child psychology and psychia try is the differential diagnosis of emotional disorders. Until recently, the gener al mode of assessment had been to apply to children the characteristics of psychopathology that were evident in adults. In addition, there had been few assessment tools available for use with children aside from modified versions of adult instruments. Understandably, this approach was controversial, and dissat isfaction with it led to the more recent knowledge that adult and child problems may be manifested quite differently. The third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders takes these factors into account much more extensively than previous editions. Furthermore, a great deal of research on methodology in child assessment procedures has emerged recently. Yet, in spite of these advances, practicing clinicians are still frequently at a loss in moving from the characteristics of the disturbed child before them to the final assign ment of a psychiatric diagnosis. The focus of this book is to outline the various methods of viewing and categorizing the wide range childhood psycho pathology, with special emphasis on the end product of making a differential diagnosis. Our goal was to make this book unique in several ways. First, we attempted to cover a wider range of disorders than is typical in currently available hand books.

Book Synopsis Everybody Belongs by : Arthur Shapiro

Book excerpt: The evil prosthesis of Captain Hook, the comical speech of Porky Pig, and the bumbling antics of Mr. Magoo are all examples of images in our culture which can become the basis of negative attitudes and subliminal prejudice towards persons with disabilities. These attitudes influence and underlie discriminatory acts, resulting in negative treatment and segregation. A teacher's ability to recognize and counter such images may well determine the success of inclusion and mainstreaming programs in our schools and society. Well-researched and well-written, this book offers practical guidance as grounded in solid research to schools that are wrestling with how to mainstream children with disabilities.

Book Synopsis Devotions for the Wounded Heart by : Dennis Cory
Download or read book Devotions for the Wounded Heart written by Dennis Cory and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Jesus Christ began His earthly ministry, He first went out and got baptized and was then led of the Holy Spirit into the wilderness, and there was tempted by the Devil. Then, in the power of the Spirit, He began teaching in the synagogues. When He came to His hometown of Nazareth and went to church on the Sabbath and stood up to read, the elders delivered the book of Isaiah to Him, and He opened the book to the place where He read these words: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19 (KJV) Jesus chose this passage of Scripture because it was known to be a prophecy of the coming Messiah, and it is a concise outline of the purpose and ministry calling of our Lord. The Holy Spirit living in the hearts of every born-again Christian is working to fulfill this Scripture for us all. Jesus Christ by the Spirit is also drawing all people to Him for their salvation through the measure of faith which our loving Father God has given to every person. It is will of God that no human being perish but that everyone would come to repentance. It is therefore His will that we all hear and respond to the gospel, that our broken hearts be healed, that the chains of our captive bondage be broken, that our physical and spiritual eyes be opened, and that every bruise and wound we carry be healed. That is the theme, calling, and purpose by which this daily devotional has been inspired to be written. The Word of God is clear in that our heavenly Father wants all people to accept His salvation, but just as true, He wants all to be healed and delivered. It is my prayer that this devotional will be used of the Lord to help accomplish this work in your lives.
