Book Synopsis Innovation Policy Challenges for the 21st Century by : Deborah Cox
Download or read book Innovation Policy Challenges for the 21st Century written by Deborah Cox and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exciting new book addresses how governments are now seeking to drive innovation through new forms of R&D policies, through public procurement, skills development, entrepreneurship and innovation culture to name but a few of the approaches. The volume debates and presents scattered and anonymous material in a coherent way, with a particular focus is on 'hot topics' in the field of innovation studies that have been previously under-researched. The book is divided into four key themes: government as a key actor in the innovation process, entrepreneurs as innovators, skills and competences required to maintain and improve innovation performance in Europe and finally, the wider context in which innovation policy develops.

Book Synopsis Pride Parades and LGBT Movements by : Abby Peterson
Download or read book Pride Parades and LGBT Movements written by Abby Peterson and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Open Access version of this book, available at http://www.tandfebooks.com/doi/view/10.4324/9781315474052, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license Today, Pride parades are staged in countries and localities across the globe, providing the most visible manifestations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex movements and politics. Pride Parades and LGBT Movements contributes to a better understanding of LGBT protest dynamics through a comparative study of eleven Pride parades in seven European countries - Czech Republic, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK - and Mexico. Peterson, Wahlström and Wennerhag uncover the dynamics producing similarities and differences between Pride parades, using unique data from surveys of Pride participants and qualitative interviews with parade organizers and key LGBT activists. In addition to outlining the histories of Pride in the respective countries, the authors explore how the different political and cultural contexts influence: Who participates, in terms of socio-demographic characteristics and political orientations; what Pride parades mean for their participants; how participants were mobilized; how Pride organizers relate to allies and what strategies they employ for their performances of Pride. This book will be of interest to political scientists and sociologists with an interest in LGBT studies, social movements, comparative politics and political behavior and participation.
Download or read book PAD #13 written by Marina Parente and published by LetteraVentidue Edizioni. This book was released on 2017-01-10 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue, edited by Marina Parente and Carla Sedini, founder of D4T - Design for Territories Research Network of Politecnico di Milano, aims to contribute to this new field of study helping readers understand the design-led phenomenon, which involves the tangible resources of a territory (like monumental and landscape heritage) as well as the intangible ones (like cultural identity and people values). The main topic of this issue is: How could the design develop the local dimension enhancing and revitalizing the territory at the same time? Furthermore, with issue #13 we are opening a series with artists’ images that will match the articles with a visual research connected to the proposed subject. Photographer Carla Sedini, co-editor with Marina Parente of this issue, gave us permission to publish a selection of images about “design that is not there”, “design that may be” and “tacit design” within urban territories around the world. We hope that many creatives will interpret the “Suggestions for Design” launched here. The numerous contributors to this issue are: Miriam Bicocca; Letizia Bollini; Marco Borsotti & Sonia Pistidda; Raffaella Fagnoni & Silvia Pericu; Davide Fassi, Laura Galluzzo & Anna Linda De Rosa; Rosanna Gaddi; Helena Gentili & Daria Casciani; José Luis González Cabrero, Ana Margarita Avila Ochoa, Ana Calvera, Debora Giorgi, Yosser Halloul, Insaf Khaled & Rosa Povedano; Maria Antonietta Sbordone; Reham Mohsen & Andreas Sicklinger; Carla Sedini & Luca Fois.
