Book excerpt: Being a born-again Christian is no walk in the park. The enemy waits on every corner in the forms of gossip, fleshly desires, church-hopping, and lack of focus. This practical book understands that even committed Christians with the best intentions may sometimes back-slide or lose their way on their walk with God. Author Memory Bengesa has been there. She presents spiritual tools for rebuilding your inner strength and “being born again 'again' ” in the Lord. Memory Bengesa was born in Zimbabwe, grew up in California, and now lives in St. Louis, Missouri. Formerly a health-care worker, her God-given mission is spreading the Word of God through writing Christian literature and through Christian education.

Book Synopsis Traditional Churches, Born Again Christianity, and Pentecostalism by : Yonatan N. Gez
Download or read book Traditional Churches, Born Again Christianity, and Pentecostalism written by Yonatan N. Gez and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-08 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Kenya's vibrant urban religious landscape, where Pentecostal and traditional churches of various orientations live side by side, religious identity tends to overflow a single institutional affiliation. While Kenya’s Christianity may offer modes of coping with the fragilities of urban life, it is subject to repeated crises and schisms, often fueled by rumors and accusations of hypocrisy. In order to understand the unfolding of Kenyans’ dynamic religious identities, and inspired by the omnipresent distinction between ‘religious membership’ and ‘church visits,’ Yonatan N. Gez considers the complementary relations between a center of religious affiliation and expansion towards secondary practices. Building on this basic distinction, the book develops a theoretical innovation in the form of the ‘religious repertoire’ model, which maps individuals’ religious identities in terms of three intertwined degrees of practice.

Reading and working with it will deepen fellowship and skill in pastoral care. The text is mined for gems of insight into ourselves, and as a rich resource of ample illustrative material for preachers and teachers. Poetry, prose, and hymn references abound. Pastor John elucidates the first four chapters of John’s Gospel, presenting new insights into the text in a way that involves us in the story. When we read, we come nearer to Jesus, who is always with us anyway! A guide is provided for understanding ourselves, experienced by sharing with each other. Precise guidance is given for workshops, where all contribute something of themselves in the light of the text. This experience of John’s Gospel is illuminated using the latest way of reading the text. What the story means is conveyed in detailed Bible study. It becomes real for us, and this reality is explored by understanding the process of reading and observing our reactions to the text. John’s Christ becomes central to who we are.

Book excerpt: The following book, which is part one of a three-part series, is a restoration of The Faith delivered to the planet earth two thousand years ago, in that it fully restores spiritual development. No explanation is necessary to explain the magnitude of such. This three-volume set is, in fact, the final warning from the Almighty to the inhabitants of the earth before the Rapture takes place. Much of what is contained in this three-volume set is instruction for those inside the house of God, but many of those outside will benefit from its contents too.

Book Synopsis The Gospel according to John by : John Peter Lange
Download or read book The Gospel according to John written by John Peter Lange and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-05-01 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presented here, in paperback for the first time, is John Peter Lange's Theologischhomiletisches Bibelwerk. Intended to help preachers prepare sermons the commentary series is essentially biblical and evangelical catholic. This 19th century commentary has served as a standard reference for more than a century. Many early reviewers regarded Schaff's edition with his additional material as superior to the original. It has proven to be a complete and useful Commentary and continues to prove especially valuable to ministers. It contains critical annotations of the text and its translation, and a threefold commentary, exegetical, doctrinal, and homiletical. Under these three heads the text is viewed from every aspect.
