Book excerpt: The innate ability to suppress stressful experiences has become more than a mechanism to survive, it has become an unconscious habit. As a result a person can accumulate years, even a lifetime of stressful memories in their body a phenomenon known as body memory. In Freedom From Body Memory we join Jonathan Tripodi on his eighteen year journey to uncover the secrets of body memory and how one's unconscious hold on the past is the invisible source of pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and repetitive life experiences. From his personal story - My Awakening to Body Memory in Part I through the fascinating science and case studies in Part II, Jonathan illuminates a healing path that is missed in traditional medicine and therapy that ultimately transforms body memory and accumulated stress which in turn enables individuals to manifest positive changes in their body and life that were previously considered impossible.

Book excerpt: While there are many books on spiritual meditation or devotion, this book is simply designed to encourage and enrich the reader in keeping one's focus on the Word of God for just twenty-one days. The goal is to provide additional insights and wisdom into God's words as one takes the time to allow God to reveal Himself in a more intimate way through these fellowship meditations with the Father God. This volume brings two inspired books, which contain scriptures, spiritual meditations, and a focus prayer for others. Each day has its own unique special message to bring to one's attention and to challenge one's faith in Christ Jesus. The entire volume offers a twenty-one-day experience, which can be used at any time of one's life. It is the prayer of the author that each day would bring excitement and elevation to one's faith as one reads and meditates on God's words. The author's overall purposes of sharing her spiritual meditations are simple: (1) to be a blessing and (2) to bring a source of spiritual strength to the reader for many, many years to come. These spiritual meditations have indeed been a wealth of growth and power from her. It has been her pleasure to be able to write them as well as to apply the knowledge and wisdom from them. May the living God richly bless you as He continues to make you a blessing to many in this world. Go forth in building up the kingdom of God. Amen!

In 1966, more than two hundred courageous Aboriginal people walked off the Wave Hill Cattle Station in the Northern Territory. Led by Vincent Lingiari, these stockmen and their families were walking together to fight for equal pay and land rights. Exquisitely illustrated and designed, this non-fiction picture book brings a landmark historical event to a new generation. Many people have seen the iconic photograph of Gough Whitlam pouring a handful of red soil into the hands of Vincent Lingiari – a symbol of the legal transfer of Gurindji land back to the Gurindji people – and recognise this as a key moment in the ongoing land rights movement. Freedom Day delves into the events that led up to this moment, and makes a rallying cry for the things that still need to change in its wake. Thomas Mayor co-authors this book with Rosie, Vincent Lingiari’s granddaughter, to bring this vital story to life. The story has been written in close consultation with the Lingiari family.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade in 1808, many African Americans began calling for "a day of publick thanksgiving" to commemorate this important step toward freedom. During the ensuing century, black leaders built on this foundation and constructed a distinctive and vibrant tradition through their celebrations of the end of slavery in New York State, the British West Indies, and eventually the United States as a whole. In this revealing study, Mitch Kachun explores the multiple functions and contested meanings surrounding African American emancipation celebrations from the abolition of the slave trade to the fiftieth anniversary of U.S. emancipation. Excluded from July Fourth and other American nationalist rituals for most of this period, black activists used these festivals of freedom to encourage community building and race uplift. Kachun demonstrates that, even as these annual rituals helped define African Americans as a people by fostering a sense of shared history, heritage, and identity, they were also sites of ambiguity and conflict. Freedom celebrations served as occasions for debate over black representations in the public sphere, struggles for group leadership, and contests over collective memory and its meaning. Based on extensive research in African American newspapers and oration texts, this book retraces a vital if often overlooked tradition in African American political culture and addresses important issues about black participation in the public sphere. By illuminating the origins of black Americans' public commemorations, it also helps explain why there have been increasing calls in recent years to make the "Juneteenth" observance of emancipation an American -- not just an African American -- day of commemoration.

Trust the land and faith will pour heavily to flood with deeper ponds and longer lakes full of fishes at the end. Do it and you shall get it? Believe it, trust, faith and hope are the limbs of the thought you dream of from dawn to dusk. Nothing lies above your resolution to translate dusk into dawn. The spider of life invariably keeps making the web for the self to be trapped. It is truth that the bees do not sit on the dung. Life as bees is to search the nectar of nature so that the honey on earth can spread sweetness of mankind. The garden of life should not restrict its fragrance within the boundary of self. Rise above to embrace the world leaving behind the ego of the self. Let us all be grateful to the life living in us from dawn to dusk. Dive deeper into the dusk to see the depth of dawn. Let not the hopes of billions and billions faint before the life gives way.

Book excerpt: "The Gurindji people of the Northern Territory are perhaps best-known for their walk-off of Wave Hill Station in 1966, protesting against mistreatment by the station managers. The strike would become the first major victory of the Indigenous land rights movement. Many discussions of station life are focused on the harsh treatment of Aboriginal workers. Songs from the Stations portrays another side of life on Wave Hill Station. Amongst the harsh conditions and decades of mistreatment, an eclectic ceremonial life flourished during the first half of the 20th century. Constant travel between cattle stations by Indigenous workers across north-western and central Australia meant that Wave Hill Station became a cross-road of desert and Top End musical styles. As a result, the Gurindji people learnt songs from the Mudburra who came further east, the Bilinarra from the north, the Nyininy from the west, and the Warlpiri from the south. This book is the first detailed documentation of wajarra, public songs performed by the Gurindji people in response to contemporary events in their community. Featuring five song sets known as Laka, Mintiwarra, Kamul, Juntara, and Freedom Day, it is an exploration of the cultural exchange between Indigenous communities that was fostered by their involvement in the pastoral industry.."--Publisher's website.

As we live longer and face more challenges in an ever-changing world, our quality of life is at stake. The strength and immunity of our bodies are correlated. Wellness is built over time by making conscious choices that are hard—resisting packaged products and inflammatory foods, minimizing consumption of animal proteins as we age, choosing strength over endurance training that overtires and injures the body. We have worked with these health topics for over 30 years now and have seen how the hard choices make up an easy life in the long run. Even more so, in the face of adversity. We created The Happy Body Program as a proactive, holistic approach to health and fitness, to thrive in harmony with nature. There is overwhelming gracefulness in living without overconsumption and finding the middle ground of enough.

Finally, Part IV identifies ten global issues and, in turn, documents 100 key artistic projects from around the world to illustrate the various critical, aesthetic and political modes in which artists, cultural workers, and communities are responding to these issues from their specific local contexts. This is a much needed and timely archive that broadens and deepens the conversation on socially engaged art and culture. It includes commissioned essays from noted critics, practitioners, and theorists in the field, as well as key examples that allow insights into methodologies, contextualize the conditions of sites, and broaden the range of what constitutes an engaged culture.
