Looking around me I was surprised to see, all the other Dragons had made a circle around me, at a distance of about 30 feet away from where I stood. I looked at the Golden Egg that was in soft warm sand, in front of me. Then I could see that it was gently rocking from side to side, and then I noted that tiny cracks appeared, they gradually got bigger as the Golden Egg continued to rock. I heard a tapping sound coming from the Golden Egg, there was no other sound in the warm still air, I could hear my heart beating in my breast, I thought that it sounded quite loud to me and I hope that I was the only one who could hear my heart beating. I then realized that my heart beat and the tapping sound that came from the Golden egg were the same rhythm. With breathless anticipation I watched the Golden Eggs cracks become a small hole at first, and then much bigger, soon a tiny Golden Dragon was nearly fully exposed. With one final push a Beautiful Golden Little Dragon cast her eyes on me. She looked intently at me for what seemed to be a life time, but it was really only one minute, she took her first step then the second towards me on wobbly legs. Step by shaky unsteady step this little baby dragon came to me, when she was close to me she lifted her Golden head and glared at me intently, with her big brown eyes. Pleading for me to accept her, and to pat her on her Golden Head. I looked at her and my heart melted; I knew that I would love her and protect her until my life ended. I stroked her head very gently then I held her close to me in a gentle hug as a mother would her new born child.

Book excerpt: Sister Mary Clare is a savvy sixty-plus-year-old nun who runs a shelter for women in downtown Oakland, California. Over the years, she has incorporated holistic healing practices into her work with the down-and-out women who appear on her doorstep. Casa Guadalupe has a reputation for being welcoming—no questions asked. At the request of her cousin, an emergency room nurse, Mary Clare is called upon to provide a Reiki session to an unconscious derelict man the police have picked up near Yosemite. But when the elderly man finally awakens, he discloses that he is St. Francis of Assisi and is dedicated to restoring the Savior’s message and the Catholic Church. As the man’s story is slowly revealed through vivid diary entries, Mary Clare embarks on her own journey to find out who he is, how he ended up in California, and why he believes he is St. Francis without any idea that she is about to unveil as much about herself and her beliefs as she does about him. In this tale of faith, love, and friendship, a nun crosses paths with a derelict man on a divine mission who teaches her more than she ever imagined about herself, God, the church, and forgiveness.

She believes she has caught him in the abuse act, but finds her own self powerless as she spirals into what appears to be a nervous breakdown. Jayne intends to stay out of it, but when it becomes obvious the sheriff isn't interested in investigating the death, Jayne can't stop herself. Her list of suspects grows faster than the plants in the commons' pentacle garden. Could it be the local Wiccan green witch with her stash of deadly plants? The shopkeeper who slips into trances and foretells death? The visitor determined to practice black magic? What Jayne knows for sure is that the closer she gets to solving this crime, the more the sheriff wants her to back off. And when a local fortune teller provides a crucial clue, Jayne knows it's up to her to solve this murder.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A beginner’s guide to an inclusive Hoodoo practice--history, spellwork, folklore, and herbs Hoodoo is a folklore tradition that was created by and for enslaved African Americans in the southern United States. And before there were honey jars, red brick dust, and everything else you may associate with Hoodoo, there was the need to be free. This is not the #kitchenwitch Hoodoo you’ve seen on social: it’s magic for those who seek liberation and healing, for those who have been hurt, misunderstood, or cast aside. This is Hoodoo, updated: history, foundations, spellwork, and spiritual guidance made accessible to everyone, inclusive of all backgrounds and genders. Written with three guiding Hoodoo tenets--Intention, Faith, and Direction--in mind, Hoodoo for Everyone offers everything you need to know about the practice: rituals, conjure, rootwork, divination, herbs, plants, and ancestor work. Shone’s modern Hoodoo also goes in-depth into discussions of gender, religion, and cultural appropriation. She answers the questions: • Is Hoodoo the same as Voodoo, Lucumi, or Santeria? • How do I connect to an ancestor if I don’t know my family’s history? • Is Hoodoo accessible to queer folks? • Can I practice Hoodoo even if I’m agnostic or Christian? • How can I practice Hoodoo respectfully and with sensitivity? With spells and verses organized by topic and a list of spices, herbs, and spellwork objects, Hoodoo for Everyone is for all readers called to Hoodoo, new and experienced alike. For anyone seeking a natural spiritual practice, a connection to their history, or a deeper connection to non-judgmental life energy, Shone offers a comprehensive guide to manifesting deliverance through Hoodoo magic.
