This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a TranslaTion of Shaykh Husain Ahmad Madani’s autobiography, highlighting the colonial practices that reduced Indians to economic poverty, erasing their culture and corrupting their faith. It shows the jihad of Shaykh Madani, free from the Eurocentric paradigm of vested interest and hierarchy. It explains why the British imprisoned him in Malta, for two years in Sabarmati prison with hard labour and in Nene Jail, Allahabad. The book also brings forward the role of prominent individuals and institutes in ending the British colonialism of India. It traces the resistance movement from the foundation of Darul-Uloom Deoband by Shaykh Qasim Nanotwi and Shaykh Rashid Aḥmad Gangohi after the 1857 British occupation of Delhi. It also includes the role of Shaykh Sayyid Aḥmad Shaheed and Shaykh al-Hind Mahmud Hasan. This book is a small way of acknowledging his contribution and challenging nationalist and exclusivist historians who have written out the Muslims’ efforts in liberating India. The book will be helpful to students and researchers across colleges, universities and Darul Ulooms. More than that, it will be useful to anyone who wants to learn about the anti-colonial movement in India.

Book Synopsis Muslims against the Muslim League by : Ali Usman Qasmi
Download or read book Muslims against the Muslim League written by Ali Usman Qasmi and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popularity of the Muslim League and its idea of Pakistan has been measured in terms of its success in achieving the goal of a sovereign state in the Muslim majority regions of North West and North East India. It led to an oversight of Muslim leaders and organizations which were opposed to this demand, predicating their opposition to the League on its understanding of the history and ideological content of the Muslim nation. This volume takes stock of multiple narratives about Muslim identity formation in the context of debates about partition, historicizes those narratives, and reads them in the light of the larger political milieu of the period. Focusing on the critiques of the Muslim League, its concept of the Muslim nation, and the political settlement demanded on its behalf, it studies how the movement for Pakistan inspired a contentious, influential conversation on the definition of the Muslim nation.

Book Synopsis Print and the Urdu Public by : Megan Eaton Robb
Download or read book Print and the Urdu Public written by Megan Eaton Robb and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In early twentieth century British India, prior to the arrival of digital medias and after the rise of nationalist political movements, a small-town paper from the margins of society became a key player in Urdu journalism. Published in the isolated market town of Bijnor, Madinah grew to hold influence across North India and the Punjab while navigating complex issues of religious and political identity. In Print and the Urdu Public, Megan Robb uses the previously unexamined perspective of the Madinah to consider Urdu print publics and urban life in South Asia. Through a discursive and material analysis of Madinah, the book explores how Muslims who had settled in ancestral qasbahs, or small towns, used newspapers to facilitate a new public consciousness. The book demonstrates how Madinah connected the Urdu newspaper conversation both explicitly and implicitly with Muslim identity and delineated the boundaries of a Muslim public conversation in a way that emphasized rootedness to local politics and small urban spaces. The case study of this influential but understudied newspaper reveals how a network of journalists with substantial ties to qasbahs produced a discourse self-consciously alternative to the Western-influenced, secularized cities. Megan Robb augments the analysis with evidence from contemporary Urdu, English, and Hindi papers, government records, private diaries, private library holdings, ethnographic interviews, and training materials for newspaper printers. This thoroughly researched volume recovers the erasure of qasbah voices and proclaims the importance of space and time in definitions of the public sphere in South Asia. Print and the Urdu Public demonstrates how an Urdu newspaper published from the margins became central to the Muslim public constituted in the first half of the twentieth century.

Book excerpt: Every week Friday comes and for us Muslims, Friday is very crucial in the sense we have our Jummah prayers. Along with the Jummah prayers we have our weekly sermons. What happens is that most of us tend to forget the sermons delivered by the Imams. So I thought of this system of writing down all the sermons so that the knowledge we gain gets preserved. Furthermore the sisters who are mostly unable to attend the Jummah prayer in many countries do not get the chance to learn from the weekly sermons. The males can easily record their learning and teach the women at their home. All the sermons are from the Imams from the Masjids I attend weekly and the Hadiths mentioned are from their own sermons. Sometimes the Imams may tend to refer to weak Hadiths, I have tried my best to classify them as much as possible. May Allah have mercy upon us all and may we get guided to the Straight Path, Ameen.
