Book excerpt: Bhairava Ashtotthara Shatanama stotra ( hundred and eight names of bhairava) - the bhairava stavaraja is from rudrayamala tantra, the hymn is made of hundred and eight names of vatuka bhairava - the one who lifts us up from all kinds of troubles, dangers and calamities. There are various dangers, troubles and calamities in this world. One can even feel sometimes that the whole life is just a struggle. Until we realize our true self. Atman which is beyond every duality (heat and coldness, brightness and darkness etc.)We definitely need help and strength in crossing over the samsara (the cycle of birth and death) we surrender to the god in a form which we feel we can connect with easily. Bhairava is none other than Shiva, he manifested as bhairava the apaduddharana to bless us and guide us through the troubles and dangers and protect us from them and make it easier for us. Human life is very precious as it has everything required to become a seeker and realize the true self which is non dual to supreme absolute god. So in times of danger, we do our part to protect ourselves from calamities both internally and externally. We pray, we seek help from the higher power. Though our ultimate aim is self-realization, we simply seek help in handling the worldly situations which forms an obstacle in our quest of highest spiritual truth. For those who do not have self-realization as the aim or destination, chanting this hymn will slowly and gradually guide in that path while blessing the worldly needs which are righteous and harmless. Bhairava not only saves us from dangers but he guides us thoroughly in our spiritual path and leads us to the experience of self-realization, he is our guru, our god and our guardian. Because he is the one who grants success for the seekers say the sacred scriptures. This hymn is very powerful and is found in bhairavopasanadhyaya in the upasana stabhaka which is in dharma skanda of Brihad Jyotisharnava compiled by Harikrishna Vyankatarama. The hymn is also called bhairava stavaraja - the king of hymns of lord bhairava. The devotee who recites this hymn is blessed with health, wealth, prosperity, the enemies are pacified and is protected from all kinds of dangers and calamities.

This book is a who's who of such transgressive figures, both familiar and unfamiliar, showing their place within the Hindu order that they violate. It is also a reflection of the serious scholarly debate over the nature and composition of this Hindu order. The chapters range from pan-Hindu deities such as Bhairava and Virabhadra to guardian gods of specific regions and lineages and of different goddess cults. Chapters cover violent themes in SAaivite hagiography, the position of Brahmans in relation to cultic carnivorism, guardian heroes in folk epic, the deified dead, the royal mythology of a "criminal caste," and a wide-ranging overview of transgressive sacrality.

Book excerpt: This book deals with the rules of art. More specifically, it treats of the unwritten rules of Nepalese religious art as laid down in ‘model books’. These can be seen as manuals for the artists, in which they can find the correct way to represent, in visual art, any of some 2000 godly figures. The representation of these gods, all of them with their particular attributes, was (and is) subject to more or less strict rules. These books, the kind of which is also found in Europe in the early Middle Ages, have developed into a special tradition in Nepal, where a unique number of model books was found to be in existence, the oldest of them going back to the 15th century. The author of this study (the first in its kind) has traced the development in time of some 150 popular Hindu deities to determine the meaning of these model books for the artists using them, and also to see if the representation of these gods is in any way related to changes in society.

Book excerpt: After getting love and positive response of my previous book "Shiv Swarodaya - A Divine Law of Breathing" and "The Basic Mantras", of the series " The Mantras"; now, I am presenting a new book on meditation "Vigyan Bhairav Tantra" (Edition 2) to boost and take your spiritual and meditation level in zenith. Recently, I also wrote book namely, "Black Magic & Witchcraft " which will help you in your daily life in many ways. The "Vigyan Bhairav Tantra" is an ancient Indian text book of around 5,000 years old which is considered by many as the only book of meditation. This book is originally in Sanskrit. The book, which is before you, is the exact translation of the original text book. No discussion is complete on meditation without mentioning this book. It contains 112 methods and techniques of meditation in the form of conversation between God Shiva and Goddess Parvati (Devi, Gazelle-eyed). Many Sadhus, Saints, Gurus, etc. are also using these techniques of meditation. The book "Vigyan Bhairava Tantra" literally means: Bhairava - A God of Hindu religion or another name of God Shiva; Tantra - A mystical spiritual path, a specific ancient science; Science - Vigyan. In this book, 112 techniques of meditation are discussed which can also help you for realizing your own true self. The book "Vigyan Bhairav Tantra" is started with conversation between God Shiva and Goddesss Parvati (Shakti). Devi asked God Shiva about the nature of reality, about Universe, about fundamental nature of the world. She also asked God Shiva, how can one go beyond space and time to understand this truth. God Shiva does not answer her directly of her questions. Rather than he tells her about the methods and techniques to get answers of these questions. He tells her how one can realize this reality through 112 methods of entering in the self. As every person has his own specific problems and questions. This book not only helped Goddess Parvati to get her answers but also can help same to the entire world. The methods are in their seed form which points towards various powerful meditation and concentration techniques. On contemplating about these techniques, you will get one of the most powerful collections of meditation techniques which are simple and very effective. The Book "Vigyan Bhairav Tantra" has 112 meditation methods and techniques which covered all meditation techniques and methods. These meditational techniques and methods can be used by the people of all ages and times (past, present and future). It is impossible to find a meditational method or technique beyond these 112 techniques. It is also impossible for anybody to find a technique which is not suitable to his own level of spiritual development and inner temperament.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Popular Hinduism is shaped, above all, by worship of a multitude of powerful divine beings--a superabundance indicated by the proverbial total of 330 million gods and goddesses. The fluid relationship between these beings and humans is a central theme of this rich and accessible study of popular Hinduism in the context of the society of contemporary India. Lucidly organized and skillfully written, The Camphor Flame brings clarity to an immensely complicated subject. C. J. Fuller combines ethnographic case studies with comparative anthropological analysis and draws on textual and historical scholarship as well. The book's new afterword brings the study up-to-date by examining the relationship between popular Hinduism and contemporary Hindu nationalism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the three great gods of Hinduism, Siva is a living god. The most sacred and most ancient book of India, "The Rg Veda," evokes his presence in its hymns; Vedic myths, rituals, and even astronomy testify to his existence from the dawn of time. In a lively meditation on Siva--based on original Sanskrit texts, many translated here for the first time--Stella Kramrisch ponders the metaphysics, ontology, and myths of Siva from the Vedas and the Puranas. Who is Siva? Who is this god whose being comprises and transcends everything? From the dawn of creation, the Wild God, the Great Yogi, the sum of all opposites, has been guardian of the absolute. By retelling and interweaving the many myths that keep Siva alive in India today, Kramrisch reveals the paradoxes in Siva's nature and thus in the nature of consciousness itself.
