Book Synopsis Atomic-Scale Electronics Beyond CMOS by : Mircea Dragoman
Download or read book Atomic-Scale Electronics Beyond CMOS written by Mircea Dragoman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-16 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores emerging topics in atomic- and nano-scale electronics after the era of Moore’s Law, covering both the physical principles behind, and technological implementations for many devices that are now expected to become key elements of the future of nanoelectronics beyond traditional complementary metal-oxide semiconductors (CMOS). Moore’s law is not a physical law itself, but rather a visionary prediction that has worked well for more than 50 years but is rapidly coming to its end as the gate length of CMOS transistors approaches the length-scale of only a few atoms. Thus, the key question here is: “What is the future for nanoelectronics beyond CMOS?” The possible answers are found in this book. Introducing novel quantum devices such as atomic–scale electronic devices, ballistic devices, memristors, superconducting devices, this book also presents the reader with the physical principles underlying new ways of computing, as well as their practical implementation. Topics such as quantum computing, neuromorphic computing are highlighted here as some of the most promising candidates for ushering in a new era of atomic-scale electronics beyond CMOS.
Book Synopsis Simulation of Transport in Nanodevices by : François Triozon
Download or read book Simulation of Transport in Nanodevices written by François Triozon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-11-22 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Linear current-voltage pattern, has been and continues to be the basis for characterizing, evaluating performance, and designing integrated circuits, but is shown not to hold its supremacy as channel lengths are being scaled down. In a nanoscale circuit with reduced dimensionality in one or more of the three Cartesian directions, quantum effects transform the carrier statistics. In the high electric field, the collision free ballistic transform is predicted, while in low electric field the transport remains predominantly scattering-limited. In a micro/nano-circuit, even a low logic voltage of 1 V is above the critical voltage triggering nonohmic behavior that results in ballistic current saturation. A quantum emission may lower this ballistic velocity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past two decades, the rapid development of nanochemistry and nanotechnology has allowed the synthesis of various materials and oxides in the form of nanopowders making it possible to produce new energetic compositions and nanomaterials. This book has a bottom-up structure, from nanomaterials synthesis to the application fields. Starting from aluminum nanoparticles synthesis for fuel application, it proposes a detailed state-of-the art of the different methods of preparation of aluminum-based reactive nanomaterials. It describes the techniques developed for their characterization and, when available, a description of the fundamental mechanisms responsible for their ignition and combustion. This book also presents the possibilities and limitations of different energetic nanomaterials and related structures as well as the analysis of their chemical and thermal properties. The whole is rounded off with a look at the performances of reactive materials in terms of heat of reaction and reactivity mainly characterized as the self-sustained combustion velocity. The book ends up with a description of current reactive nanomaterials applications underlying the promising integration of aluminum-based reactive nanomaterial into micro electromechanical systems.

Download or read book Electrostatic Kinetic Energy Harvesting written by Philippe Basset and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Harvesting kinetic energy is a good opportunity to power wireless sensor in a vibratory environment. Besides classical methods based on electromagnetic and piezoelectric mechanisms, electrostatic transduction has a great perspective in particular when dealing with small devices based on MEMS technology. This book describes in detail the principle of such capacitive Kinetic Energy Harvesters based on a spring-mass system. Specific points related to the design and operation of kinetic energy harvesters (KEHs) with a capacitive interface are presented in detail: advanced studies on their nonlinear features, typical conditioning circuits and practical MEMS fabrication.
Download or read book Nanothermites written by Eric Lafontaine and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-07-14 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent introduction of the “nano” dimension to pyrotechnics has made it possible to develop a new family of highly reactive substances: nanothermites. These have a chemical composition that is comparable to that of thermites at submillimeter or micrometric granulometry, but with a morphology having a much increased degree of homogeneity. This book discusses the methods of preparation of these energetic nanomaterials, their specific properties, and the different safety aspects inherent in their manipulation.
Book Synopsis Swift Ion Beam Analysis in Nanosciences by : Denis Jalabert
Download or read book Swift Ion Beam Analysis in Nanosciences written by Denis Jalabert and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-08-14 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Swift ion beam analysis (IBA) of materials and their surfaces has been widely applied to many fields over the last half century, constantly evolving to meet new requirements and to take advantage of developments in particle detection and data treatment. Today, emerging fields in nanosciences introduce extreme demands to analysis methods at the nanoscale. This book addresses how analysis with swift ion beams is rising to meet such needs. Aimed at early stage researchers and established researchers wishing to understand how IBA can contribute to their analytical requirements in nanosciences, the basics of the interactions of charged particles with matter, as well as the operation of the relevant equipment, are first presented. Many recent examples from nanoscience research are then explored in which the specific analytical capabilities of IBA are emphasized, together with the place of IBA alongside the wealth of other analytical methods.

Book Synopsis Information and Knowledge System by : Pierre-Emmanuel Arduin
Download or read book Information and Knowledge System written by Pierre-Emmanuel Arduin and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-08-03 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to question the relationships involved in decision making and the systems designed to support it: decision support systems (DSS). The focus is on how these systems are engineered; to stop and think about the questions to be asked throughout the engineering process and, in particular, about the impact designers’ choices have on these systems. This therefore involves identifying the elements of the problem of decision support systems engineering: the main objects and dimensions to be considered and the relationships they involve, issues at the levels of the decision-maker, of the organization (and even of society), the general approach to which to subscribe and so on.
