Better Off Without Jesus takes readers on a journey toward embracing the presence of the Holy Spirit within and guides them as they seek to understand and obey the voice of the Spirit in their lives. Readers will construct a biblical grid for discerning God's voice and get the tools they need to stay in tune with the Spirit's direction.

Book excerpt: Based on Kurt Bennett's popular-ish blog God Running, Love Like Jesus begins with the story of how after a life of regular church attendance and Bible study, Bennett was challenged by a pastor to study Jesus. That led to an obsessive seven-year deep dive. After pouring over Jesus' every interaction with another human being, he realized he was doing a much better job of studying Jesus' words than he was following Jesus' words and example. The honest and fearless revelations of Bennett's own moral failures affirm he wrote this book for himself as much as for others. Love Like Jesus examines a variety of stories, examples, and research, including: -Specific examples of how Jesus communicated God's love to others. -How Jesus demonstrated all five of Gary Chapman's love languages (and how you can too). -The story of how Billy Graham extended Christ's extraordinary love and grace toward a man who misrepresented Jesus to millions. -How to respond to critics the way Jesus did. -How to love unlovable people the way Jesus did. -How to survive a life of loving like Jesus (or how not to become a Christian doormat). -How Jesus didn't love everyone the same (and why you shouldn't either). -How Jesus guarded his heart by taking care of himself--he even napped--and why you should do the same.-How Jesus loved his betrayer Judas, even to the very end. With genuine unfiltered honesty, Love Like Jesus, shows you how to live a life according to God's definition of success: A life of loving God well, and loving the people around you well too. A life of loving like Jesus.

But only those who take hold of the rope that God Himself has thrown us―Jesus Christ―will be spared death and Hell. Those of us who take hold of that rope have a responsibility to help save others. But first the lost need to understand that they're in danger and need saving. That's tricky business that gets all tangled up in "religion" and awkwardness. Comfort shows you how to overcome your personal reluctance and gives you some smart strategies for reaching out and handing your end of the rope to another soul. This is a quickstudy manual for evangelism for a Christian ... with a surprising twist. Comfort uses his lesson as a lead into the Gospel of John. This powerful book suddenly segues into a book of the Bible ... and transforms into a tract. Is already being promoted on the Way of the Master television and radio programs.

Book excerpt: One of the things that distinguishes humankind from every other species on earth is that we have a moral dimension. A moral law seems to be programmed into our psychological 'software' and our awareness of it is triggered by the conscience, a mysterious monitor that pokes its nose into every nook and cranny of our lives. Why shoud this be the case? Does our moral sense come from nature? Is it nothing more than a cultural phenomenon? Is personal preference the deciding factor? Have we any right to question another person's moral choices? Are there consistent guidelines for deciding whether something is good or evil, right or wrong, just or unjust? Beyond these and other related questions lies an even greater one: can we ever find a solid and coherent basis for morality unless our world view has God at the very centre of it? Getting the right answers may change your life....

Book excerpt: Whether the issue of the day on Twitter, Facebook, or cable news is our sexuality, political divides, or the perceived conflict between faith and science, today’s media pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others. Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Scott shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward—away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes. In Jesus Outside the Lines, you will experience a fresh perspective of Jesus, who will not (and should not) fit into the sides.

Book excerpt: Envisioning a future in which the Christian church plays a viable and transformative role in shaping society, Gretta Vosper argues that if the church is to survive at all, the heart of faith must undergo a radical change. Vosper, founder of the Canadian Centre for Progressive Christianity and a minister in Toronto, believes that what will save the church is an emphasis on just and compassionate living -- a new and wholly humanistic approach to religion. Without this reform, the church as we know it faces extinction. Vosper addresses the issues of spiritual fulfillment, comfort and connection in the modern world through a thoughtful and passionate discourse. She urges a renewal of old doctrines but does so with dignity and respect. Offering difficult but penetrating insights into a new generation of spiritually aware -- and spiritually open -- people, With or Without God offers a startling model for a renewed church as a leader in ethics, fostering relationships, meaning and values that are solidly rooted in our own selves.

Book excerpt: Many Christians feel as if something is missing in their relationship with God. They long to find an in-depth, authentic relationship with God. Instead, many believers find themselves living out a results-oriented "behavior management system" of spiritual growth. Unfortunately, rather than leading to an intimate relationship with God, this behavior-based system does just the opposite. It produces an unsatisfying life full of inner turmoil and doubt as Christians wonder whether or not they will ever experience the deeply satisfying life Jesus promised. Chuck Bomar calls this the "elephant in the room" that nobody seems to talk about but everyone struggles with. As the pastor of a church embraced by millennials and young families, and a long-time leader of seminars that help pastors reach this "lost" generation, Chuck is uniquely qualified to write this book.

Book excerpt: “What does it take to find satisfaction? Will I ever find something in life that’s better than this?” Most people live a life they never would have planned. The good news is that coming to the end of their expectations means they’re on the brink of great wisdom, peace, and joy. That’s what the ancient author of Ecclesiastes helps us figure out—it is quite possible to face detours and dead-ends in life and still find more satisfaction than you ever could have imagined. Better explores the mysteries, scandalous lines, and deep truths of Ecclesiastes and applies them to life today. Better seeks to show how the questions of the heart find their answer in the person of Jesus. Here you will find a vision of life that is neither naive nor cynical, but realistic and hopeful. Because the truth is, when God answers the questions, you finally realize what is better.

What if I told you evangelism is less about delivering a polished presentation and more about having a real conversation? What if I told you that God has created you to bring glory to himself by sharing Jesus with others, and that you don’t need years of training to obey what he already made you to do? God created you for his glory to advance his gospel with the gifts, talents, and opportunities he gave you. You live at this time in history for a purpose bigger than yourself. In these pages you will read how to connect the gospel story with your story, and how to talk about that story in normal conversations with people you know. No gimmicks. Nothing clever. No need to freak out. Just you, Jesus, and others—in conversations that matter.

Book excerpt: The title: "Stumbling in Darkness ~ Separated from God (A journey to the Light) ...is a life summarized. May this book inspire you to seek the LORD God, read His Word the Holy Bible, and get to know Him as He reveals Himself to you through the Spirit in Jesus Christ. It is God's will for all of us to know Him and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. In both Testaments God says, I will be their God and they will be My children. (Lev 26:12) - (Rev 21:7) this statement is repeated many times. God desires to have a relationship with each one of us. He's long suffering patiently waiting for us to come to Him. However, He has a set year, month, day and time when the waiting ends. Take an honest look at yourself and ask do you know the love of God? Do you know Jesus Christ personally? Is your name written in The Book of Life? Are you a slave to addictions, lost in sinful desires? Will you be welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven? Do you put everyone and everything before and above God? We are living in what Scripture calls "the last days" the end of life as we know it. Though it is a world without end as we know it is becoming a memory. Prompted by the Holy Spirit (the true author of the book), Laura is God's tool used by His Spirit, experience, faith, and grace; to help those who don't know the LORD, who misunderstand His will, or who think its too late for them. By admitting her faults, low self-esteem, wrong mind-set, poor choices...a sinful life; God's power and desire to save and change the 'least worthy' of His forgiveness reveals His tenderhearted mercy, patience, and love hence, He is worthy of all praise and glory! Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts against Him. (Heb 3:7-8) AMP Before I received the Spirit of Truth, I tried to fill a void only God fills. As His creation, we have a special place for His touch alone. Until we know this and submit our will to His, we look for anything to fill the emptiness He overfills with love. When I received the Holy Spirit I was sealed' as God's, transformed into a new person. (Eph 4:23, 30) I have holiness dwelling in me God's power. The same power the apostles had when they shared the gospel without fear even unto death. Who-so-ever receives Jesus in their heart (not the mind), receives the Spirit unexpectedly. (Jn 3:3-8) He changes you into the image of Christ (Gen 1:26), there's no doubt the promise of eternal life is true. You know you'll rise to live in God's kingdom forever! The LORD is so much more than we could ever imagine. The Living God He is whatever those who love Him need Him to be. He wants nothing more than this: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (Jam 4:8) The many facets of God are lovely, and the wrath read in the Old Testament is not in Christ in the New Testament; though He repeatedly warned all would be judged. Many are blind to God's pain for not believing in His Son-Jesus. (Jn 10:30) Despite the dramatic display of His anger in both testaments; His love through His Spirit given to the prophets, Jesus, and the apostles all warn of the Day of the Lord' God never changes. (Heb 13:8) He calls Himself a Consuming Fire (Deut 4:24) Jealous God. (Ex 20:5) He has appointed a Day of Judgment for every spoken word, thought and deed in secret or open; how we treated our body (the temple for His Spirit), and if His Commandments were kept. (Jer 17:10) (2 Cor 5:10) Many toss around the Name of God as if common, but they're cursing themselves as they break the 3rd Commandment: You shall NOT take the Name of the LORD your God in Vein, for The LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His Name in vein. (Ex 20:7) Not making God first in your life breaks His most important law: The 1st Commandment: You shall love The LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, all your mind. (Deut 6:5) (Lk 10:27) God must be first above all else, even family. He blesses us after He is made first

They've settled for salvation someday, not realizing they can experience a fuller life today." Many Christians share a secret. Few of us dare to speak it out loud, because doing so would feel like taking a slap at God--and it wouldn't make us look good either. Yet this secret is affecting us painfully on the inside every single day. Here it is: Believing in Jesus has left us disappointed. At one point we were thrilled and hopeful about living a life of trusting in Christ. But over time our experience has failed to live up to our expectations or make the difference we thought it would. So we've begun to think: "This can't be all there is to being a Christian." If that's what you've been thinking . . . you're right. No Easy Jesus holds the key to moving forward when you're bored, disillusioned, and beaten down by faith-as-usual. It's a clarion challenge to wake up each day and choose Jesus all over again; to make the tough, gritty choices that align your way with His and lead to true fullness of life. Because when you decided to follow Jesus, you didn't sign up for what was easiest--you signed up for what was best.

She poignantly shares the price she’s paid for following Jesus. New Age teachings are based on concepts that sound almost irresistible. But as Doreen discovered, they come with a hidden price: your eternal destiny. Here is a riveting, personal confessional of how a former false prophet learned to trust God after nearly wasting a lifetime being independent and willful—trying to predict and control the future—and how Jesus saved her soul from deception and opened her eyes to His truth. Deceived No More can help you learn how to discern dangerous teachings so you can detect and avoid deception. Topics include: How to spot New Age teachings, and why they’re dangerous Biblical ways to deal with persecution, spiritual warfare, and other post-conversion issues How to witness to a New Ager
