This book was released on 1969 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this project was to evaluate the behavior of laced reinforced concrete members when subjected to short duration dynamic loads similar to that produced by high-explosive detonations. The primary objective was to establish the increase in stresses and strains in a laced member under dynamic load relative to those produced in the member under static load. Secondary objectives were to evaluate the following characteristics of a laced reinforced concrete member: (a) the dynamic strength throughout the entire range of ductile response, (b) rotation capacity of the member at clamped supports, and (c) the dynamic versus static response under uniform load. Book excerpt: This report describes an investigation into the behavior of reinforced concrete floor slabs which are subjected to compression forces in the plane of the slab as well as to transverse bending moments. The first report describes tests of a series of 6-ft sq. slabs representative of typical interior panels of beam-supported slab floors. The slabs were subjected to known in-plane compression forces and then loaded to failure under transverse loads. An approximate analysis is developed which leads to a conservative prediction of the strength of such structures, and which gives a reasonable prediction of the load-deflection relationship and consequently of the energy absorbing capacity of the system. The second part of the report describes tests on six slabs in which the reinforced concrete section was subjected to a uniform moment and compression field in all directions. The tests confirmed that the response of the slabs under such multiaxial bending and compression could be satisfactorily predicted using the same principles and techniques that are routinely applied to members subjected to uniaxial compression plus bending, as is the case for columns. Book Synopsis Response of Deep Reinforced Concrete Slabs by : R. K. Gregory
Download or read book Response of Deep Reinforced Concrete Slabs written by R. K. Gregory and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The response of deep reinforced concrete slabs to uniformly distributed dynamic loads as high as 700 psi was measured and compared with the static behavior of companion slabs. Comparisons between theoretical and experimental results were made. Experience has shown that one of the major difficulties in predicting the static behavior of reinforced concrete slabs results from the varying friction between the slab and bearing plate. The pressure seals and seal devices presented the primary experimental difficulty and made it impossible to yield the strongest slabs.

Book Synopsis Strength and Behavior of Restrained Reinforced Concrete Slabs Under Static and Dynamic Loadings by : W. A. Keenan
Download or read book Strength and Behavior of Restrained Reinforced Concrete Slabs Under Static and Dynamic Loadings written by W. A. Keenan and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two studies, one theoretical, the other experimental are reported. The strength and behavior of restrained reinforced concrete slabs were investigated under both static and dynamic loads. Nine 6-foot-square slabs were tested: six under uniform static pressure and three under long-duration dynamic loads. Steel reinforcement ranged from zero to 1.33 percent. The slabs failed initially in a flexural mode, followed by total collapse at a much greater deflection. The thinner slabs deflected more than 2.5 times their thickness under both types of loading. The theoretical study deals with a square slab, restrained against rotation and longitudinal movement at the edges. The study covers static resistance, failure criteria, size and extent of fragments, and design recommendations. An analytical method is developed to predict the static resistance, deflection, and longitudinal restraining thrust at ultimate failure. The resistance and behavior of longitudinally restrained square slabs are predictable, and if properly designed can resist dynamic loads effectively and more economically than those with no longitudinal edge restraint. (Author).

Download or read book Behavior of Simple and Restrained Deep Reinforced Concrete Beamms Under Static Loading written by A. F. Dill and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This investigation determined the influence of end restraint on the strength and behavior of reinforced concrete deep members subjected to slowly applied loads as a basis for the development of minimum design considerations. The end restraint was applied in such a manner as to simulate that which would be developed in continuous beams or frames. Static tests were made on fifteen beams of which five were simply supported and ten were restrained. The investigation is concentrated on the crushing stage as the last stage for which meaningful concrete strains were available. It is shown that deep beams do have a capacity beyond crushing in terms of deflections, and, sometimes, of moments. This reserve capacity is not now predictable in the same manner as the procedure developed herein to predict the capacity at crushing. (Author).
