Download or read book The Storyteller written by Dave Grohl and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2021-10-05 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The #1 New York Times Bestseller * Named one of Variety's Best Music Books of 2021 * Included in Audible's Best of The Year list * A Business Insider Best Memoirs of 2021 * One of NME's Best Music Books of 2021 So, I've written a book. Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do 4 hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to write these stories just as I have always done, in my own hand. The joy that I have felt from chronicling these tales is not unlike listening back to a song that I've recorded and can't wait to share with the world, or reading a primitive journal entry from a stained notebook, or even hearing my voice bounce between the Kiss posters on my wall as a child. This certainly doesn't mean that I'm quitting my day job, but it does give me a place to shed a little light on what it's like to be a kid from Springfield, Virginia, walking through life while living out the crazy dreams I had as young musician. From hitting the road with Scream at 18 years old, to my time in Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, jamming with Iggy Pop or playing at the Academy Awards or dancing with AC/DC and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, drumming for Tom Petty or meeting Sir Paul McCartney at Royal Albert Hall, bedtime stories with Joan Jett or a chance meeting with Little Richard, to flying halfway around the world for one epic night with my daughters…the list goes on. I look forward to focusing the lens through which I see these memories a little sharper for you with much excitement.

Book Synopsis Orphans of Chaos by : John C. Wright
Download or read book Orphans of Chaos written by John C. Wright and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John C. Wright burst onto the SF scene with the Golden Age trilogy. His next project was the ambitious fantasy sequence, The Last Guardians of Everness. Wright's new fantasy is a tale about five orphans raised in a strict British boarding school who begin to discover that they may not be human beings. The students at the school do not age, while the world around them does. The children begin to make sinister discoveries about themselves. Amelia is apparently a fourth-dimensional being; Victor is a synthetic man who can control the molecular arrangement of matter around him; Vanity can find secret passageways through solid walls where none had previously been; Colin is a psychic; Quentin is a warlock. Each power comes from a different paradigm or view of the inexplicable universe: and they should not be able to co-exist under the same laws of nature. Why is it that they can? The orphans have been kidnapped from their true parents, robbed of their powers, and raised in ignorance by super-beings no more human than they are: pagan gods or fairy-queens, Cyclopes, sea-monsters, witches, or things even stranger than this. The children must experiment with, and learn to control, their strange abilities in order to escape their captors. This book was released on 2019-07-19 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Color edition /// What is Net art? Does its name refer to the medium it uses? Is it the art of the Netizens, the inhabitants of the internet? Is it an art movement or an art form? This book aims to provide a starting point in the search for answers to these and similar questions concerning the existence of Net art. Edited by Marie Meixnerová, a Czech curator and scholar, #mm Net Art approaches Internet art as a developing art form, through five thematic sections that map the "chronological" stages of this development. Featured authors include Katarína Rusnáková, Dieter Daniels, Marie Meixnerová, Domenico Quaranta, Natalie Bookchin, Alexei Shulgin, Piotr Czerski, Brad Troemel, Artie Vierkant, Ben Vickers, Jennifer Chan, Gene McHugh, Gunther Reisinger, Matěj Strnad, Lumír Nykl. For those who know little about it, this anthology can serve as an introduction; to the expert reader, it offers new and as yet unpublished information, and hopefully a new perspective.

Book Synopsis The Road to San Donato by : Robert Cocuzzo
Download or read book The Road to San Donato written by Robert Cocuzzo and published by Mountaineers Books. This book was released on 2019-08-30 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Road to San Donato is an adventurous travel memoir of an American father and son tracing their Italian heritage by bicycle. With only the bare essentials on their backs, author Robert Cocuzzo and his sixty-four-year-old father, Stephen, embark on a torturous 425-mile ride from Florence, Italy, to San Donato Val di Comino, an ancient village hidden in the Apennine mountains from which their family emigrated a hundred years earlier. After getting lost, beaten down, and very nearly stranded, when they finally reach the village the Cocuzzos discover so much more than their own family story. For many Jews in the 1940s, the road to San Donato was one of exile; during World War II, dozens were interned in the village. When the Nazis came to ship them off to death camps, however, many of the villagers went to heroic lengths to save their lives. Walking and pedaling through this history, Robert Cocuzzo is determined to learn the role his family played at the time. The Road to San Donato is a story of fathers and sons, discovering lost "cousins," valorous history, and the challenge and exhilaration of traveling by bicycle.

Book Synopsis This Is How You Die by : Matthew Bennardo
Download or read book This Is How You Die written by Matthew Bennardo and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07-16 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If a machine could predict how you would die, would you want to know? This is the tantalizing premise of This Is How You Die, the brilliant follow-up anthology to the self-published bestseller, Machine of Death. THIS IS HOW YOU DIE Stories of the Inscrutable, Infallible, Inescapable Machine of Death The machines started popping up around the world. The offer was tempting: with a simple blood test, anyone could know how they would die. But the machines didn't give dates or specific circumstances-just a single word or phrase. DROWNED, CANCER, OLD AGE, CHOKED ON A HANDFUL OF POPCORN. And though the predictions were always accurate, they were also often frustratingly vague. OLD AGE, it turned out, could mean either dying of natural causes, or being shot by an elderly, bedridden man in a botched home invasion. The machines held onto that old-world sense of irony in death: you can know how it's going to happen, but you'll still be surprised when it does. This addictive anthology--sinister, witty, existential, and fascinating--collects the best of the thousands of story submissions the editors received in the wake of the success of the first volume, and exceeds the first in every way.
