Pfeffer Chronicles of the Cosmic Void: The Reluctant Traveler begins with the abduction of a party of Roman soldiers by belligerent alien beings. Centuries later, the US Air Force, after noticing a pattern of mysterious abductions and the detection of an anomalous signal deep within our solar system, launches a program of deep space exploration to uncover a horrifying truth that we are not alone in this universe and are far from being the dominant species. Recruited by the US Air Force and persuaded to join the covert top secret program, a romantic couple of young scientists- Doctor Ryan Williams and Doctor Rebecca Lang, learn that they are part of a crew that might be humanity’s last hope of survival when they discover two warring alien races: one, a benevolent species, and the other, hostile to the human race intent on its subjugation and destruction! Written to inspire interest in science fiction and astronomy, the book is an adventurous tale of hope, compassion and camaraderie dedicated to the premise that no matter where you are in life or what challenges life might bring, it’s love that gives us the strength to tolerate and overcome all obstacles, however insurmountable they might seem.

Book excerpt: A once-charmed family is forced to confront the devastating tragedy that struck it years ago in this fiercely tender tale of betrayal and reconciliation It's the fall of 2007, and Emily Ascher should be celebrating: she just got engaged to the man she loves, her job is moving in new and fulfilling directions, and her once-rocky relationship with her mother, Laura, has finally mellowed into an easy give-and-take. But with the promise of new love Settling into old comes a difficult look at how her family has been torn apart in the many years since her brother died. Her parents have long since divorced, and her father, Joe, a famous actor and playwright who has been paralyzed with grief since the tragedy, carries the blame for his son's death—but what really happened on that winter night? Why has he been unable to clear his name, or even discuss that evening with Laura and Emily? As spring looms—and with it Emily's wedding in the Berkshires and an unveiling of Joe's new play—each Ascher begins to reevaluate the events of long ago, finally facing the truth of his or her own culpability in them. Moving between past and present over the course of sixteen years, The Embers is a skillfully structured debut novel of buried secrets and deep regrets that crush a family while bonding its members irrevocably.

After all, she has an obligation from which she cannot but give up, and for the sake of it she will go to the most desperate acts. And the guy who, without knowing it, is in her debts, must help her in one damn dangerous case. Only this guy would rather kill her than help the property of the hated gang.

Book excerpt: President Li Fung, like Hitler, grew up in abject poverty in China and struggled his way up in the tightly state-controlled armed forces of the PRC. He now wants complete control over the world’s natural resources and to make China an “Empire”. It is 2026. Li Fung leaves no stone unturned to bring the world’s top countries to their knees and activates plans to paralyze their economy, infrastructure, and armed forces by discreetly deploying bioweapons and mini nukes. In Afghanistan, the Taliban are inches away from gaining control over Pakistan’s nukes. In Egypt, Mohd. Ghoneim uses Chinese funds to recruit extremist sleeper cells in various European countries. In Turkey, President Murad Tekant works to restore the Ottoman Empire. In Iran, Supreme Commander Ayatollah explains his attack plans to the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army. In the US, FBI agent Dave Watson tries to beat the clock, chasing various mini nukes and bioweapons entering the US from various entry points. China’s threatening activities in the East China Sea sends a red signal to the Pentagon who urgently shift their Naval Armada to protect Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. The world is now on the brink of WWIII, which is now inevitable. “Technology, Trade and Terrorism; Cocktail of this troika, unhesitatingly would be used by Chinese for the furtherance of its expansionist agenda and to gain super economic power status. And this is the running theme of ‘The Inevitable’, a masterpiece thriller cum war fiction novel of Sigma Tramps. A must-read novel”. Air Vice-Marshal Pranay Sinha VSM (Retd.)

Book excerpt: Jim Icarus is a handsome twenty-two year old who is invited to trek to the base camp of Mount Everest by his Dad, Alex. His adventures start by saving a boy from a burning helicopter. He falls in love with Charley, a pretty emergency physician. She helps resuscitate his Dad who succumbs to high altitude mountain sickness in Dingboche, Nepal. By luck a working group who has spent the summer and fall cleaning the trash from the base camp of Mount Everest is camped a few hundred yards from Jim's trekking party when his Dad goes into high altitude cerebral edema. Their Gamow hyperbaric bag is successful in resuscitating his Dad out of coma, but unfortunately Alex slips back into coma. Good fortune smiles again when a French physician from the High Altitude Mountain Rescue clinic in Pheriche arrives with her Jacque Cousteau designed hyperbaric chamber that will pressure the victim down to sea level. An injection of Niphedapine under Alex's tongue and a dive in the Cousteau bag brings Alex out of his coma once again. Alex survives a trip to a lower altitude on a makeshift stretcher with oxygen flowing, but is in poor condition. Only a daring helicopter rescue offers any hope, but leaves Jim wondering about the fate of his Dad. The rest of the trekking party marches up the trail and eventually five members summit Kala Patthar, but not without another high altitude sickness casualty. Meanwhile, Jim hurries down the mountain only to have to wait in Lukla for a flight back to Kathmandu. Alex recovers unbeknownst to Jim and sight sees around Kathmandu. Charley transports the other coma patient by rescue helicopter, but never quite hooks up with Jim. Jim finally meets his Dad and they recount the events that nearly melted their wings.

Book excerpt: In 1965 a Soviet emissary was sent to Memphis, Tennessee, to create social anarchy by exploiting the civil rights movement and fund the war in Southeast Asia through the sale of drugs. During a civil rights march from Memphis to Jackson, Mississippi, the communist agent meets Trifecta Johnson, a black teenager who is chosen to be one of the students to integrate the oldest white high school in Memphis. Trifecta lives in one of the citys roughest housing projects with his grandmother and two antagonistic cousins. All three boys have been abandoned by their mothers. The South Memphis ghetto is controlled by a street thug called The Mayor, who sells drugs at the corner of Mississippi Boulevard and Walker Avenue. With racial tensions mounting due to the integration of the citys high schools, a retired newspaper reporter challenges Henry Murphy, a less-than-stellar white student at Central High School, to write socially significant articles for the school newspaper. Henry, impassioned by his mentors encouragement, writes so honestly about the chaotic world around him that his work, especially what doesnt get published, causes him to lose his girlfriend, get suspended from school, become a person of interest to the FBI, fight with Trifecta, and befriend the only hippie girl at his conservative school. For Henry and Trifecta, the irrepressible social pressures to survive integration during the racially volatile garbage strike that will forever change the face of the city and the civil rights movement bring them together, move them to sacrifice, and ultimately force them from their adolescent oblivion.
