Book Synopsis Sweet Beginnings by : Graciela Castellanos
Download or read book Sweet Beginnings written by Graciela Castellanos and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2012-03-20 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sweet Beginnings Teacher's Guide is one of the components of Languages4kidz, Inc. English 4 Babies Program. The lessons feature different activities that are developmentally appropriate for all children. Lessons 1-4 focus on greetings, introductions, and children's immediate families. Activities designed for these lessons boost children's understanding of their immediate world. Lessons 5-8 help infants recognize their body parts and learn how they can move those body parts. At this early age, infants are at the sensorimotor stage of development according to Piaget. They begin to differentiate their bodies from the world around them. They begin to use their hands, mouths and eyes to explore their bodies and things in their immediate environment. The experiences provided in these lessons include vocabulary related to children's body parts, as well as music and movement activities that introduce and reinforce actions performed by those body parts. Lessons 9-11 help families with babies and young toddlers maximize the so valuable "teachable moments" that are present in their everyday lives. All families go through the same routine practices. We realize that these practices are significant learning opportunities that parents seldom recognize. We help them capitalize on them to develop their children's early learning. Lessons 9-11 have been developed keeping the above statement in mind. They include vocabulary and songs that families may use throughout the day from the time their children wake up and until it is time for them to go to bed. These routines are: - Take a bath - Change diapers - Dress up - Exercise - Eat - Play - Go for a walk - Go for a ride - Go to bed Lesson 12 is the last lesson on the Sweet Beginnings unit. It is a "celebration" for young children's accomplishments. The lesson plan presents an overview of children's and their parents' favorite activities, songs and rhymes and lets them have fun showing what they have learned. Each lesson plan includes at the beginning important information regarding the materials necessary to carry out the activities and the vocabulary and structures that need to be introduced and/or practiced. Throughout this Teacher's Guide you will find additional information to help you focus on important teaching components. There are Information Boxes that provide statements that elaborate or give additional information about certain activities, Language Learning Boxes that focus your attention on important issues regarding language development and Specific Icons that facilitate the identification and location of activities in the lesson plans. Each lesson includes activities for the following: - Welcome! - All Together - Playful Time - Relaxing Time - Story Time - Wrap-up! With this Teacher's Guide you can start teaching using whole language in context right away with minimal investment of time researching and creating your own lesson plans. Together with the Picture Books, Enrichments activities Booklets, CDs with songs, finger plays and rhymes, Languages4kidz Teacher's Guides provide you with the tools necessary to implement the program, and make it easy for children to gradually acquire and build up their vocabulary and communicative competence, catch up or improve their English language skills.
