Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if I told you that the last thing you want from a potential acquirer is a term sheet? Or that the casualty of a bidding war is often going to be you? Or the presentation you should use when you meet with investors is quite different from the one you should use with potential strategic partners? Or that moves a buyer may make to reduce their risk in an acquisition can end up increasing the chance that they don't achieve the full potential of the combination? Startup acquisitions are counterintuitive. Yet that doesn't mean they're impossible to navigate. Quite the contrary, the Magic Box Paradigm (MBP) is your guide to creating, optimizing, and closing startup acquisitions. The MBP is a holistic approach to creating opportunities for your startup to be acquired-the blueprint for being bought not sold. The MBP is going to put you in a position of strength in conversations with potential strategic partners, show you how to inspire them to create an actionable acquisition thesis, and then how to turn that thesis into an outperforming offer. Once the offer is on the table, the MBP is going to give you the tools to close the deal. And if you like the book - join the community at www.mbp.co
Book Synopsis Word and Paradigm Morphology by : James P. Blevins
Download or read book Word and Paradigm Morphology written by James P. Blevins and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-10-13 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides an introduction to word and paradigm models of morphology and the general perspectives on linguistic morphology that they embody. The recent revitalization of these models is placed in the larger context of the intellectual lineage that extends from classical grammars to current information-theoretic and discriminative learning paradigms. The synthesis of this tradition outlined in the volume highlights leading ideas about the organization of morphological systems that are shared by word and paradigm approaches, along with strategies that have been developed to formalize these ideas, and ways in which the ideas have been validated by experimental methodologies. An extended comparison of contemporary word and paradigm variants isolates the central assumptions about morphological units and relations that distinguish implicational from realizational models and clarifies the relation of these models to morpheme-based accounts. Designed to be accessible to a wide readership, this book will serve both as an introduction to morphology and morphological theory from the word and paradigm perspective for non-specialists, and for morphologists, as a detailed account of the history of the ideas that underlie these models.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Practical Framework for Positive Social Change In 1987, Anne Firth Murray had the idea that funding should go to grassroots women's organizations around the globe and that the recipients themselves should decide how to use that money. From that idea, The Global Fund for Women was born. The organization became a major force for good in the world, embodying a new paradigm of philanthropy. In these pages, Murray shares her wisdom, offering guidelines that demonstrate how anyone can turn a clear vision of a better world into reality.

Book Synopsis Challenging the Innovation Paradigm by : Karl-Erik Sveiby
Download or read book Challenging the Innovation Paradigm written by Karl-Erik Sveiby and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-05-04 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation is almost always seen as a "good thing". Challenging the Innovation Paradigm is a critical analysis of the innovation frenzy and contemporary innovation research. The one-sided focus on desirable effects of innovation misses many opportunities to reduce the undesirable consequences. Authors in this book show how systemic effects outside the innovating firms reduce the net benefits of innovation for individual employees, customers, as well as for society as a whole - also the innovators' own organizations. This book analyzes the dominant discourses that construct and reconstruct the assumptions and one-sidedness of contemporary innovation research (generally known as the pro-innovation bias) by focusing on consequences of innovation, distinguishing between intended and unintended as well as desirable and undesirable consequences. Contributors illustrate how both the discourses of innovation and the consequences of innovation permeate all levels of society: in policy discourse, in academic discourse, in research funding, in national innovation systems, in the financial sector, in organizational and work contexts, and in environmental pollution. The volume offers a critical, multidisciplinary, and multinational perspective on the topic, with authors from diverse academic fields examining and making comparisons between a variety of national contexts.

Book Synopsis Collisions in the Digital Paradigm by : David John Harvey
Download or read book Collisions in the Digital Paradigm written by David John Harvey and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-03-23 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been said that the only asset that a lawyer has is time. But the reality is that a lawyer's greatest asset is information. The practice and the business of law is all about information exchange. The flow of information travels in a number of different directions during the life of a case. A client communicates certain facts to a lawyer. The lawyer assimilates those facts and seeks out specialised legal information which may be applicable to those facts. In the course of a generation there has been a technological revolution which represents a paradigm shift in the flow of information and communication. Collisions in the Digital Paradigm is about how the law deals with digital information technologies and some of the problems that arise when the law has to deal with issues arising in a new paradigm.

Book Synopsis Organic Computing — A Paradigm Shift for Complex Systems by : Christian Müller-Schloer
Download or read book Organic Computing — A Paradigm Shift for Complex Systems written by Christian Müller-Schloer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-04-29 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organic Computing has emerged as a challenging vision for future information processing systems. Its basis is the insight that we will increasingly be surrounded by and depend on large collections of autonomous systems, which are equipped with sensors and actuators, aware of their environment, communicating freely, and organising themselves in order to perform actions and services required by the users. These networks of intelligent systems surrounding us open fascinating ap-plication areas and at the same time bear the problem of their controllability. Hence, we have to construct such systems as robust, safe, flexible, and trustworthy as possible. In particular, a strong orientation towards human needs as opposed to a pure implementation of the tech-nologically possible seems absolutely central. The technical systems, which can achieve these goals will have to exhibit life-like or "organic" properties. "Organic Computing Systems" adapt dynamically to their current environmental conditions. In order to cope with unexpected or undesired events they are self-organising, self-configuring, self-optimising, self-healing, self-protecting, self-explaining, and context-aware, while offering complementary interfaces for higher-level directives with respect to the desired behaviour. First steps towards adaptive and self-organising computer systems are being undertaken. Adaptivity, reconfigurability, emergence of new properties, and self-organisation are hot top-ics in a variety of research groups worldwide. This book summarises the results of a 6-year priority research program (SPP) of the German Research Foundation (DFG) addressing these fundamental challenges in the design of Organic Computing systems. It presents and discusses the theoretical foundations of Organic Computing, basic methods and tools, learning techniques used in this context, architectural patterns and many applications. The final outlook shows that in the mean-time Organic Computing ideas have spawned a variety of promising new projects.

Book excerpt: The b Paradigm book reveals automatic growth model influenced by Barnabas in the early church. When the Holy Spirit instructed the apostles to separate unto Him Barnabas and Paul for the work of the ministry, these were not just two individuals but two ways of growing the church - one would grow the church internally and the other externally. The b Paradigm presents ten critical elements of internal church growth influenced by Barnabas, which, when present result in automatic growth. This b Paradigm Workbook is a student companion to the b Paradigm book and is complete with student activities, questions, discussions, and additional aids to help believers and churches grow.

Book Synopsis Paradigm Structure and Predictability in Latin Inflection by : Matteo Pellegrini
Download or read book Paradigm Structure and Predictability in Latin Inflection written by Matteo Pellegrini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-31 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Latin paradigms are almost proverbially known, and they have often been used as a test case for different theoretical approaches to morphological complexity. This book analyses them in a completely word-based perspective, using a recently developed information-theoretic methodology, making entropy-based techniques of analysis available to a wider readership. By doing so, it shows the relevance of traditional notions like principal parts, giving them a more principled, data-driven formulation. Furthermore, it suggests enhancements to the standard information-theoretic methodology, allowing to account for the role of external factors – like gender and derivational information – in improving predictability between inflected word forms. This book is useful to morphologists, that will see ideas and techniques taken from the current debate on morphological theory tested on complex phenomena of a language as renowned as Latin. It is also helpful for scholars working in both Latin and Romance linguistics: the former will find a freely available lexical resource and a novel description of Latin paradigms, that can be exploited by the latter to draw a comparison with recent analyses of the inflectional morphology of several Romance languages.
