Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: "AYESHA SERIES – Complete Collection: She (A History of Adventure) + Ayesha (The Return of She) + She & Allan + Wisdom's Daughter" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents: "She" is one of the classics of imaginative literature, and one of the best-selling books of all time. She was extraordinarily popular upon its release and has never been out of print. The story is a first-person narrative that follows the journey of Horace Holly and his ward Leo Vincey to a lost kingdom in the African interior. There they encounter a primitive race of natives and a mysterious white queen named Ayesha who reigns as the all-powerful "She", or "She-who-must-be-obeyed". In this work, Rider Haggard developed the conventions of the Lost World subgenre, which many later authors emulated. "Ayesha, the Return of She" is a gothic-fantasy novel, a sequel to his far more popular and well known novel, She. "She and Allan" is a novel, in which Haggard brought together his two most popular characters, Ayesha from She (to which it serves as a prequel), and Allan Quatermain from King Solomon's Mines. Wisdom's Daughter is the final book in the Ayesha series. Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English writer of adventure novels set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the Lost World literary genre. His stories, situated at the lighter end of Victorian literature, continue to be popular and influential. His novels portray many of the stereotypes associated with colonialism, yet they are unusual for the degree of sympathy with which the native populations are portrayed.

She and Allan, unites two of Haggard's most beloved characters, Allan Quatermain-the indomitable trader, explorer, big game hunter, and central character of the hugely successful Allan Quatermain novels -and Ayesha herself, in a prequel to She. The final novel in the series is Wisdom's Daughter which tells of Ayesha's origins in ancient Egypt and her adventures across the Mediterranean as she ascends to immortality as Isis's incarnation on Earth. Tolkien's characters Shelob and Galadriel. In nonfiction, Ayesha is mentioned in Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams and by Jung in his lectures.Outside of fiction and nonfiction, She has inspired more than 10 film adaptations including the 1925 version directly involving Haggard.Note The Ayesha books can be read as written by publication date (i.e. She: A History of Adventure, Ayesha: The Return of She, She and Allan, and Wisdom's Daughter) or in chronological order based on story order (i.e. Wisdom's Daughter, She and Allan, She: A History of Adventure, andAyesha: The Return of She). For ease of navigation and to facilitate reading order preference, this edition includes an interactive table of contents.

She lives with her boisterous Muslim family and is always being reminded that her flighty younger cousin, Hafsa, is close to rejecting her one hundredth marriage proposal. Though Ayesha is lonely, she doesn't want an arranged marriage. Then she meets Khalid, who is just as smart and handsome as he is conservative and judgmental. She is irritatingly attracted to someone who looks down on her choices and who dresses like he belongs in the seventh century. When a surprise engagement is announced between Khalid and Hafsa, Ayesha is torn between how she feels about the straightforward Khalid and the unsettling new gossip she hears about his family. Looking into the rumors, she finds she has to deal with not only what she discovers about Khalid, but also the truth she realizes about herself.

Aisha Chaudhary was born with SCID (severe combined immune deficiency) and underwent a bone-marrow transplant when she was six months old. She lived in New Delhi, where she was born. The year 2014 was brutal for Aisha as her disease progressed, and her lungs started giving up on her. The last few months of the year felt like a roller-coaster ride, one that seemed to be mostly going down. Spending almost all her time lying in bed, Aisha wrote down her thoughts to get some relief, to get them out of her head. Aisha's life was not anything like the average life of an urban teenager, but she had experienced a lifetime of emotions; life and death, fear and anger, love and hate, the depths of utter sorrow and the happiest one can be. In My Little Epiphanies she took a hard look at her own feelings and what it was that gave her a sense of hope and control. This book gave her life purpose and meaning, something to hold on to. Sometimes, Aisha's little epiphanies had morphed into doodles that capture what was going on in her mind as her destiny played itself out. Through the book she wanted the world to understand her unusual life and she hoped that it will inspire others, going through similar hardships, to find peace.

When the narrative of Holly's manuscript begins, nearly twenty years have passed since their first adventure in Africa, but he and his ward Leo Vincey are convinced that Ayesha did not die. Following their dreams, they wander for years through Asia, eventually coming to "Thibet" (as it is spelled in the book). Taking refuge to overwinter in a remote lamasery, they meet the old Abbot Kou-En, who claims to recall a past-life encounter tales with a witch queen from the time of Alexander the Great. The Abbott tries to dissuade them from going on and warns them that, however beautiful, nothing is immortal, even if the Queen was born centuries ago in Ancient Egypt or remembers it from a past life. He believes the Queen is holding on to the distractions of life, which will lead them away from Enlightenment and peace, whether she is a demon, a fallen angel, or only a dream. Despite Abbot's warning, Leo is compelled to press on and Holly will not abandon his adopted son. When spring breaks, they travel out into the uncharted region beyond the monastery; after a perilous journey and many narrow escapes, they arrive in the city of Kalon, which is ruled by the evil Khan Rassen and his imperious wife, the Khania Atene, who claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great's ancient Hellenist generals. The people of Kaloon live under an uneasy truce with the people who serve the House, the Priestess of Hes, who dwells on the Mountain, a huge volcano that dominates the region, at the summit of which is a massive natural rock formation in the shape of an ankh. Atene declares her love for Leo, but the jealous and dissolute Rassen (who has been driven mad by the sorcery of Atene and her uncle, the wizard Simbri) wants to kill them. She, subtitled A History of Adventure, is a novel by Henry Rider Haggard, first serialized in The Graphic magazine from October 1886 to January 1887. She is one of the classics of imaginative literature, and with over 83 million copies sold in 44 different languages, one of the best-selling books of all time. Extraordinarily popular upon its release, She has never been out of print. According to the literary historian Andrew M. Stauffer, "She has always been Rider Haggard's most popular and influential novel. The second part of this book is a sequel to the first novel, is based on the characters from She: A History of Adventure, including the titular Ayesha, "She Who Must Be Obeyed," and picks up where the last ended. Leo Vincey and Horace Holly, the writer, are convinced that "She" did not perish at the end of the last book, in Africa. They are led by dreams, and coincidences to 'Thibet' (as it is spelled in the book). In Thibet, they meet an old monk, who knows something of this "She." He remembers her from the time of Alexander the Great, when his armies were there. He tries to dissuade the two from going on with their quest, and warns them that, however beautiful, nothing is immortal; even if She was born centuries ago in ancient Egypt; or, remembers it from a past life; or, had waited thousands of years for the reincarnation of her lover, whom she believes is Leo. The monk says she is demon or a fallen angel, or a mirage.

Book excerpt: In her book Self-Inflicted Wounds, comedian, actress, and cohost of CBS’s daytime hit show The Talk, Aisha Tyler recounts a series of epic mistakes and hilarious stories of crushing personal humiliation, and the personal insights and authentic wisdom she gathered along the way. The essays in Self-Inflicted Wounds are refreshingly and sometimes brutally honest, surprising, and laugh-out-loud funny, vividly translating the brand of humor Tyler has cultivated through her successful standup career, as well as the strong voice and unique point of view she expresses on her taste-making comedy podcast Girl on Guy. Riotous, revealing, and wonderfully relatable, Aisha Tyler’s Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation is about the power of calamity to shape life, learning, and success.
