It contradicts much popular thinking about how to lead a long, healthy and happy life, and it does so based on scientifically grounded arguments and research which shows that the key to good health, success and longevity is the CONSERVATION of life energy. On the basis of the scientifically recognized Metabolic Theory, this book develops a program that can work for everyone. It explains the scientific correlation between life energy and longevity in an easy-to-understand way. The authors have found through their research that older but hearty and active people often do not follow the regimen we have believed was the secret to a long life. They are calm in every situation; they enjoy life, play sports in moderation, eat little and do not waste their valuable life energy. They are not excessively ambitious. All this seems to be the secret to vitality and good health. The book contains valuable tips and advice for everyone who wants to stay healthy and live longer, energy-saving suggestions about eating, working and exercising, and quizzes to test your stress level, life energy and physical well-being.

Book excerpt: A new edition of the comprehensive, hands-on guide to financial time series, now featuring S-Plus® and R software Time Series: Applications to Finance with R and S-Plus®, Second Edition is designed to present an in-depth introduction to the conceptual underpinnings and modern ideas of time series analysis. Utilizing interesting, real-world applications and the latest software packages, this book successfully helps readers grasp the technical and conceptual manner of the topic in order to gain a deeper understanding of the ever-changing dynamics of the financial world. With balanced coverage of both theory and applications, this Second Edition includes new content to accurately reflect the current state-of-the-art nature of financial time series analysis. A new chapter on Markov Chain Monte Carlo presents Bayesian methods for time series with coverage of Metropolis-Hastings algorithm, Gibbs sampling, and a case study that explores the relevance of these techniques for understanding activity in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The author also supplies a new presentation of statistical arbitrage that includes discussion of pairs trading and cointegration. In addition to standard topics such as forecasting and spectral analysis, real-world financial examples are used to illustrate recent developments in nonstandard techniques, including: Nonstationarity Heteroscedasticity Multivariate time series State space modeling and stochastic volatility Multivariate GARCH Cointegration and common trends The book's succinct and focused organization allows readers to grasp the important ideas of time series. All examples are systematically illustrated with S-Plus® and R software, highlighting the relevance of time series in financial applications. End-of-chapter exercises and selected solutions allow readers to test their comprehension of the presented material, and a related Web site features additional data sets. Time Series: Applications to Finance with R and S-Plus® is an excellent book for courses on financial time series at the upper-undergraduate and beginning graduate levels. Book Synopsis Introduction to Quantum Mechanics 1 by : Ibrahima Sakho
Download or read book Introduction to Quantum Mechanics 1 written by Ibrahima Sakho and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conception of lasers and optoelectronic devices such as solar cells have been made possible, thanks to the modern day mastery of processes that harness the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter. This first volume is dedicated to thermal radiation and experimental facts that reveal the quantification of matter. The study of black body radiation allows the introduction of fundamental precepts such as Plancks law and the energy-related qualities that characterize radiation. The properties of light and wave–particle duality are also examined, based on the interpretation of light interferences, the photoelectric effect and the Compton effect. This book goes on to investigate the hydrogen atomic emission spectrum and how it dovetails into our understanding of quantum numbers to describe the energy, angular momentum, magnetic moment and spin of an electron. A look at the spectroscopic notation of the states explains the different wavelengths measured from the splitting of spectral lines. Finally, this first volume is completed by the study of de Broglies wave theory and Heisenbergs uncertainty principle, which facilitated the advancement of quantum mechanics.

Book Synopsis History of Georgia Agriculture, 1732-1860 by : James C. Bonner
Download or read book History of Georgia Agriculture, 1732-1860 written by James C. Bonner and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2009-09-01 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in 1964, A History of Georgia Agriculture describes the early land and labor systems in the state. Agriculture came to Georgia with the first settlers and was largely directed toward the economic self-sufficiency of the British Empire. James C. Bonner's portrayal of the colonial cattle industry is prescient of the later open-range West. He also clearly shows how shortages of horses and implements, poor plowing techniques, and a lack of skill in tool mechanics spawned the cotton-slaves-mules trilogy of antebellum agriculture, which in turn led to land exhaustion and eventual emigration. By the 1850s the general southern desire for economic independence promoted diversification and such scientific farming techniques as crop rotation, contour plowing, and fertilization. Planting of pasture forage to improve livestock and hold soil was advocated and the teaching of agriculture in public schools was promoted. Contemporary descriptions of individual farms and plantations are interspersed to give a picture of day to day farming. Bonner presents a picture of the average Southern farmer of 1850 which is neither that of a landless hireling nor of the traditional planter, but of a practical man trying to make a living.

Book Synopsis The Oxford Handbook of Economic Forecasting by : Michael P. Clements
Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Economic Forecasting written by Michael P. Clements and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2011-06-29 with total page 732 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook provides up-to-date coverage of both new and well-established fields in the sphere of economic forecasting. The chapters are written by world experts in their respective fields, and provide authoritative yet accessible accounts of the key concepts, subject matter, and techniques in a number of diverse but related areas. It covers the ways in which the availability of ever more plentiful data and computational power have been used in forecasting, in terms of the frequency of observations, the number of variables, and the use of multiple data vintages. Greater data availability has been coupled with developments in statistical theory and economic analysis to allow more elaborate and complicated models to be entertained; the volume provides explanations and critiques of these developments. These include factor models, DSGE models, restricted vector autoregressions, and non-linear models, as well as models for handling data observed at mixed frequencies, high-frequency data, multiple data vintages, methods for forecasting when there are structural breaks, and how breaks might be forecast. Also covered are areas which are less commonly associated with economic forecasting, such as climate change, health economics, long-horizon growth forecasting, and political elections. Econometric forecasting has important contributions to make in these areas along with how their developments inform the mainstream.
