Book excerpt: This standard establishes minimum requirements for rubber-seated butterfly valves, 3 in. (75 mm) through 72 in. (1,800 mm) in diameter, with various body and end types, for raw water, potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water having a pH range from 6-12 and a temperature range from 33°-125°F (0.6°-52°C). This standard covers rubber-seated butterfly valves suitable for a maximum steady-state fluid working pressure of up to 250 psig (1,723 kPa), a maximum steady-state differential pressure of up to 250 psi (1,723 kPa), and a maximum full open fluid velocity of up to 16 ft/sec (4.9 m/sec) based on nominal valve size. 1.1.1 Body types, classes, and sizes. Valves described in this standard are provided in four body types and in classes as follows: 1.1.1.1 Wafer valves. Class 150B, in sizes 3-20 in. (75-500 mm). 1.1.1.2 Short-body and long-body flanged valves. Class 25A, Class 25B, Class 75A, Class 75B, Class 150A, and Class 150B and Class 250B, in sizes 3 in.-72 in. (75 mm-1,800 mm). 1.1.1.3 Mechanical-joint-end valves. Class 150B and Class 250B, in sizes 3 in.-24 in. (75 mm 600 mm), and Class 25A, Class 25B, Class 75A, Class 75B, Class 150A, Class 150B, and Class 250B, in sizes 30 in.-48 in. (750 mm-1,200 mm). 1.1.2 Definition of classification. In each case, the numeric designation represents the pressure rating (the maximum steady-state fluid working pressure, in pounds-per-square-inch gauge) and also the maximum steady-state differential pressure, in pounds per square inch, for which the valve is designed. 1.1.2.1 A and B designations. The designations A and B define the flow-rate capabilities with the valve in the fully open position. Valves designated A are rated for a maximum velocity of 8 ft/sec (2.4 m/sec), and B valves are rated for a maximum velocity of 16 ft/sec (4.9 m/sec) in the piping section upstream of the valve. This standard can be referenced in purchase documents for rubber-seated butterfly valves that are described by the scope as defined above. Downloadable versions of current and historical standards are also available.

Download or read book Water Transmission and Distribution written by American Water Works Association and published by American Water Works Association. This book was released on 2003 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water distribution systems are made up of pipe, valves and pumps through which treated water is moved from the treament plant to homes, offices, industries, and other consumers. The types of materials and equipment used by each water system are usually governed by local conditions, past practices, and economics. Consequently, drinking water professionals must be knowledgeable about common types of equipment and operating methods that are available. Completely revised and updated, Water transmission and distribution includes information on the following: distribution system design and operation and maintenance ; piping materials ; valves, pumps, and water meters ; water main installation ; backfilling, main testing, and installation safety ; fire hyfrants ; water storage ; water services ; cross-connection control ; motors and engines ; instrumentation and control ; information management and public relations.--Cover page [4].

This book was released on 2012-04-10 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This updated version of one of the most popular and widely used CCPS books provides plant design engineers, facility operators, and safety professionals with key information on selected topics of interest. The book focuses on process safety issues in the design of chemical, petrochemical, and hydrocarbon processing facilities. It discusses how to select designs that can prevent or mitigate the release of flammable or toxic materials, which could lead to a fire, explosion, or environmental damage. Key areas to be enhanced in the new edition include inherently safer design, specifically concepts for design of inherently safer unit operations and Safety Instrumented Systems and Layer of Protection Analysis. This book also provides an extensive bibliography to related publications and topic-specific information, as well as key information on failure modes and potential design solutions.

Book Synopsis The Fundamentals of Piping Design by : Peter Smith
Download or read book The Fundamentals of Piping Design written by Peter Smith and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written for the piping engineer and designer in the field, this two-part series helps to fill a void in piping literature, since the Rip Weaver books of the '90s were taken out of print at the advent of the Computer Aid Design (CAD) era. Technology may have changed, however the fundamentals of piping rules still apply in the digital representation of process piping systems. The Fundamentals of Piping Design is an introduction to the design of piping systems, various processes and the layout of pipe work connecting the major items of equipment for the new hire, the engineering student and the veteran engineer needing a reference.
