Download or read book Computer Aided Design Guide for Architecture, Engineering and Construction written by Ghassan Aouad and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent years have seen major changes in the approach to Computer Aided Design (CAD) in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) sector. CAD is increasingly becoming a standard design tool, facilitating lower development costs and a reduced design cycle. Not only does it allow a designer to model designs in two and three dimensions but also to model other dimensions, such as time and cost into designs. Computer Aided Design Guide for Architecture, Engineering and Construction provides an in-depth explanation of all the common CAD terms and tools used in the AEC sector. It describes each approach to CAD with detailed analysis and practical examples. Analysis is provided of the strength and weaknesses of each application for all members of the project team, followed by review questions and further tasks. Coverage includes: 2D CAD 3D CAD 4D CAD nD modelling Building Information Modelling parametric design, virtual reality and other areas of future expansion. With practical examples and step-by step guides, this book is essential reading for students of design and construction, from undergraduate level onwards.

Book Synopsis Visualizing with CAD by : Daniela Bertol
Download or read book Visualizing with CAD written by Daniela Bertol and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I spent the first twenty six years of my life in Rome. I used to go for ice cream to a popular place near the Pantheon and I remem ber the excitement I felt, beyond the chocolate and whipped cream, when I entered this ancient Roman temple. After staring at the "shower" of light coming from the circular opening at the center of the dome, as strong as a spotlight, I remember being attracted almost hypnotically to the place below the opening. I remember counting the coffers carving the concave dome, com posed in five rows of circular arrays, and could feel the power and protection created by the concave space. I also recall going every Sunday to Piazza San Pietro. This Baroque square is well known for its colonnades, which have an oval shape defined by two interlocking circles. For each of these circles there is a mark, located approximately at its center, from which the four aligned rows of columns appear as one. Before entering the church, almost as a part of a ritual, I had to find the mark in the pavement of the oval square. I was amazed by how the rows of columns could appear and disappear according to my position in relation to the mark:.
Book Synopsis Three-Dimensional Model Analysis and Processing by : Faxin Yu
Download or read book Three-Dimensional Model Analysis and Processing written by Faxin Yu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-02-03 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the increasing popularization of the Internet, together with the rapid development of 3D scanning technologies and modeling tools, 3D model databases have become more and more common in fields such as biology, chemistry, archaeology and geography. People can distribute their own 3D works over the Internet, search and download 3D model data, and also carry out electronic trade over the Internet. However, some serious issues are related to this as follows: (1) How to efficiently transmit and store huge 3D model data with limited bandwidth and storage capacity; (2) How to prevent 3D works from being pirated and tampered with; (3) How to search for the desired 3D models in huge multimedia databases. This book is devoted to partially solving the above issues. Compression is useful because it helps reduce the consumption of expensive resources, such as hard disk space and transmission bandwidth. On the downside, compressed data must be decompressed to be used, and this extra processing may be detrimental to some applications. 3D polygonal mesh (with geometry, color, normal vector and texture coordinate information), as a common surface representation, is now heavily used in various multimedia applications such as computer games, animations and simulation applications. To maintain a convincing level of realism, many applications require highly detailed mesh models. However, such complex models demand broad network bandwidth and much storage capacity to transmit and store. To address these problems, 3D mesh compression is essential for reducing the size of 3D model representation.

Book Synopsis Representational Momentum by : Ian M. Thornton
Download or read book Representational Momentum written by Ian M. Thornton and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Visual experience of the world is characterised as much by movement and change as it is by permanence and stability. Understanding how the brain processes dynamic information poses major challenges for theories of cognition and perception. Are dynamic and static objects represented in the same way? How do we extract stability from dynamics? How can we successfully interact with moving objects and overcome the known neural delays of our sensory systems? Representational momentum - the tendency for observers to misremember the stopping point of a perceived event as being further ahead in the depicted direction of motion and/or change - has played an important role in attempts to address such questions. Research on representational momentum has given rise to the concept of "dynamic mental representations", helped popularise a range of methods for probing memory for visual objects and events, and inspired a broader consideration of anticipation and localisation during perception, cognition, and action. This collection of papers brings together work from many of the leading experts in representational momentum research, and more generally, from the fields of object localization and dynamics. In addition to presenting new findings from behavioural and neuroimaging studies, this collection also includes several new attempts to link this area of work with broader issues in the perception and representation of dynamic objects.
