Ursachen, Erscheinungsformen und Lösungsmöglichkeiten sind in den letzten Jahren zunehmend öffentlich erörtert worden. Dass Armut in ihren verschiedenen Ausprägungen in erster Linie ein gesellschaftliches Phänomen ist, lässt sich dabei nicht von der Hand weisen. Daher sind selbstverständlich die Politik und alle gesellschaftsgestaltenden Kräfte in der Verantwor-tung, sich mit Maßnahmen zur Armutsverminderung und Armutsverhinderung auseinander zu setzen. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich angesichts der fortwährenden Armutsproblematik - insbesondere bei Kindern- mit der Frage nach den gesellschaftlichen und individuellen Bewältigungsformen, mit den Auswirkungen ebendieser Armut umzugehen. Sie tut dies indem sie das Phänomen der Resilienz in den Fokus nimmt. Resilienz bedeutet „seelische Widerstandsfähigkeit“. Resilienzförderung zielt darauf ab, diese „Widerstandsfähigkeit“ von Kindern in belasteten Lebenssituationen durch verschiedene Ansätze zu entwickeln und zu stärken. Dabei ist Resilienz keineswegs als angeborenes Persönlichkeitsmerkmal eines Kindes zu verstehen, sondern vielmehr als eine Kapazität, die im Verlauf der Entwicklung im Kontext der Kind-Umwelt Interaktion erworben wird. Neben den Chancen, die sich aus dem Konzept der Resilienz als Bewältigungsform von Armutsfolgen ergeben könnten, sollen auch die Grenzen und Schwierigkeiten des Konzepts in den Blick genommen werden.
