Book Synopsis Attitudes Concerning Two-way and One-way Frontage Roads by : Vergil G. Stover
Download or read book Attitudes Concerning Two-way and One-way Frontage Roads written by Vergil G. Stover and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents the results of an attitude survey concerning one-way and two-way freeway frontage roads. This research was part of a two-year study for developing warrants for conversion from two-way to one-way frontage roads. Interviews were conducted with 121 individuals in 15 different small and medium-sized cities in Texas. All of the 15 cities have freeways with two-way or one-way frontage roads. The results of the attitude survey showed that the increased safety associated with one-way frontage roads is universally recognized by all interest groups. Operational considerations, such as capacity, are much less understood.

Download or read book Two-sided Weaving Analysis on One-way Frontage Roads written by Lewis Nowlin and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is part of a larger study developing a level of service evaluation procedure for freeway frontage roads. The results from this report will aid engineers in evaluating existing and proposed two-sided weaving sections on one-way frontage roads. The procedures developed can be used to estimate the level of service at these types of sections. This, in turn, will aid engineers in prioritizing frontage road improvement projects and/or predicting future operations. Also provided are recommended desirable and minimum exit ramp-to-intersection spacings. The results from this study will be incorporated into the final frontage road analysis package.

Book Synopsis Procedures to Determine Frontage Road Level of Service and Ramp Spacing by : Kay Fitzpatrick
Download or read book Procedures to Determine Frontage Road Level of Service and Ramp Spacing written by Kay Fitzpatrick and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objectives of this study were to develop procedures for estimating the level of service on freeway frontage roads and to determine desirable spacings for ramp junctions. The tasks involved developing (1) procedures for analyzing frontage road weaving sections, (2) recommended spacing requirements for ramp junctions, and (3) a technique to evaluate overall operations on a continuous frontage road section. The two weaving segments analyzed included a one-sided weaving area formed by an exit ramp followed by an entrance ramp and connected by an auxiliary lane and a two-sided weaving area formed by an exit ramp followed by a downstream signalized intersection.

Book Synopsis The Attitude, Respect, Training and Safety Aspects of Trucking by : C. Mississippi Morgan

This book was released on 2019-09-24 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this book, The Attitude, Respect, Training, and Safety Aspects of Trucking, is directly in line with the content of the book. As a professional driver, you will need all of these aspects to complete your portfolio. If you take just one of these aspects out of the equation, you are opening the door for potential hazards throughout your career. Example, you can be the most skilled driver in the world and yet when another driver intentionally or unintentionally cuts you off and you allow this to have a negative effect on your attitude, then there goes safety out the window. When you are considering a company as a new employer, it is critical that you discuss with your spouse and your children the requirements of the company. How often will you be gone? One week? Three weeks? How much time will you have with your family between trips? A number of drivers make the mistake of not discussing these priorities with their family. It might very well be that a local driving job would be best for you and your family as opposed to a position as an over-the-road driver. You would probably be surprised as to what your family would say. One thing is certain. If you don't discuss this with your family, you will invariably have marital and children problems. Remember this. Trucking is full of variables. Reefer, dry box, flatbed, tanker, or any other type of trucking you choose, just keep in mind that while it's still trucking, each one of these is as different as night and day. And by all means, I want you to realize that trucking is not for everybody. It takes a special breed of persons to be a true professional driver. Is that you?
