This book was released on 2020-04-01 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A central figure of Spanish culture and an author in many genres, Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936) is less well known outside Spain. He was a surprising writer and thinker: a professor of Greek who embraced metafiction and modernist methods, a proponent of Castilian Spanish although born in the Basque Country and influenced by many international writers, and an early existentialist who was yet religious. He found himself in opposition to both King Alfonso XIII and the military dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera and then became involved in the political upheaval that led to the Spanish Civil War. Part 1 of this volume, "Materials," gives information on different editions and translations of Unamuno's works, on scholarly and critical secondary sources, and on Web resources. The essays in part 2, "Approaches," offer suggestions for introducing students to the range of his works--novels, essays, poetry, and drama--in Spanish language and literature, comparative literature, religion, and philosophy classrooms.

Book Synopsis Guiding the Invisible Hand by : Joseph Love
Download or read book Guiding the Invisible Hand written by Joseph Love and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1988-09-26 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unprecedented collection combines economic, political, and intellectual history in its analysis of economic liberalism in Latin America. The volume demonstrates the unique and varied features of Latin American liberalism from its formative period up to 1940 and discusses its relation to state formation. The essays range from a continent-wide comparison to an in-depth local study, from tariff and industrialization policies of central states to the selective liberal convictions of traditional estate owners. The contributors consider the social bases of economic liberalism in the region and their relation to imperialism and to economic dependency. Questions of the strength and the staying power of economic liberalism are considered. In addition, the late appearance of serious alternative policies are treated.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Textuality is the condition in which a text is created, edited, archived, published, disseminated, and consumed. “Texts,” therefore, encompass a broad variety of artifacts: traditional printed matter such as grammar books and newspaper articles; phonographs; graphic novels; ephemera such as fashion illustrations, catalogs, and postcards; and even virtual databases and cataloging systems.\ Latin American Textualities is a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary look at textual history, textual artifacts, and digital textualities across Latin America from the colonial era to the present. Editors Heather J. Allen and Andrew R. Reynolds gather a wide range of scholars to investigate the region’s textual scholarship. Contributors offer engaging examples of not just artifacts but also the contexts in which the texts are used. Topics include Guamán Poma’s library, the effect of sound recordings on writing in Argentina, Sudamericana Publishing House’s contribution to the Latin American literary boom, and Argentine science fiction. Latin American Textualities provides new paths to reading Latin American history, culture, and literatures. Contributors: Heather J. Allen Catalina Andrango-Walker Sam Carter Sara Castro-Klarén Edward King Rebecca Kosick Silvia Kurlat Ares Walther Maradiegue Clayton McCarl José Enrique Navarro Andrew R. Book Synopsis Cultura y conciencia imperial en la España del siglo XIX by : Alda Blanco
Download or read book Cultura y conciencia imperial en la España del siglo XIX written by Alda Blanco and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2015-05-16 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Desmantelando la máquina by : Jazmín Adler
Download or read book Desmantelando la máquina written by Jazmín Adler and published by Neural. This book was released on 2021-08-12 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
