Book excerpt: This book takes an unusual slant on life, both from a socioeconomic and cultural standpoint. The underlying sense of humor leans towards Native American and the working class, you know the people that really built America and every other country on this planet. This being said, the reader will find a connection to the author and this book. The book takes the reader on a journey of discovery that opens that primal dormant eye of the hunter in all of us. The author was raised in a couture that is rich in oral history. Stories told around tables and campfires a couture that believes in signs and visions both are depicted in this offering. The author said that the family stories were wrote just like they happen only some of the names were changed. There are strong intelligent female characters through-out this book. The only character created was one to help explain a dream or vision depending on ones belief system. A vision that the author had while in the mountains. This book asks the reader to question everything around us, some questions are even quantum based. There is a freckle here and a wort there but overall this book is well worth the read. You will laugh and cry and your spirit will fly. Beneath Archers Tree has been read by some of the smartest people in this country, some worked for NASA, some were professors, one, is one of the author's hero's. This hero is Russell Means the Indian activist and actor and author of, “Where White Men Fear To Tread.” A book every American should take a moment and read. Mr. Means read a chapter from Beneath Archers Tree, the chapter was Stain Glass Sky, he sent a note saying how much he liked it.
Book Synopsis Archer's Goon by : Diana Wynne Jones
Download or read book Archer's Goon written by Diana Wynne Jones and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2012-09-25 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The trouble started when Howard Sykes came home from school and found the "goon" sitting in the kitchen. He said he'd been sent by Archer. But who was Archer? It had to do with the 2,000 words that Howard's author father had failed to deliver. It soon became clear not only that Archer wanted those words, but that his wizard siblings, Hathaway, Dillian, Shine, Torquil, Erskine, and Venturus, would also go to any lengths to get them. Although each wizard ruled a section of the town, he or she was a prisoner in it. Each suspected that one of them held the secret behind the words, and that secret was the key to their freedom. Which one of them was it? The Sykes family become pawns in the wizards' fight to win their freedom, wrest control from one another, and fan out to rule the world. Diana Wynne Jones skillfully guides the reader through a riveting, twisty plot, with satisfying surprises at every amazing turn. An exciting science fiction adventure where, happily, nothing is what it first seems to be.

Book excerpt: Ellie Dray and her League of Archers are keeping Robin Hood’s legacy alive by stealing from the rich to help the poor, but when they discover someone is trying to steal the crown, they learn that some things may be out of their league. Ellie and her League of Archers are still on the run—living in Sherwood Forest, trying to protect the good parts of Robin Hood’s legacy by helping the poor in the neighboring villages and eluding the Baron’s men. But then King John dies unexpectedly and Ellie learns of a plot to kidnap the new king—who’s just a boy—and steal the throne. Can the League stop this scheme before it’s too late? Kirkus Reviews described League of Archers as a book that “doesn’t shy away from deep moral dilemmas often unexplored in middle grade novels and important to acknowledge in a story with life-or-death stakes.” And Booklist said that it was a “highly enjoyable adventure story that should appeal to a wide range of readers.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Archers, like life, is made of moments: marriages and births, loves and losses, triumphs and disasters. It has been the soundtrack of our lives for over six decades, from stooking corn with Dan Archer in the 1950s to the tragic death of Nigel Pargetter in 2011. We know the characters of Ambridge – from much-loved Phil and Jill Archer and the irrepressible Grundys to wayward Brian Aldridge – like we know close friends. This book is their tribute. The Ambridge Chronicles relives some of the defining moments in The Archers history, delving into the rich archive of its scripts, to celebrate the highs and lows that have made the world’s longest running radio serial so treasured.
