Book Synopsis Radio Propagation and Antennas by : Steve Cerwin
Download or read book Radio Propagation and Antennas written by Steve Cerwin and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-07-24 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is from the hands-on perspective of a lifelong ham radio operator turned professional “RF and antenna guy” that this book is written. The intense mathematical antenna descriptions given in most antenna handbooks is more befuddling than enlightening for many. So in this book the intuitive is emphasized and mathematics is minimized, though many formulas are given to calculate selected parameters if desired. The purpose of this book is to provide a basic understanding of antennas and radio propagation for both professionals and amateurs alike. Many of the technical explanations were developed for a 5-day antenna course in which the requirement was to take students from zero to antennas in one week. The characteristics of many antenna types are discussed and construction recipes are given for building selected antenna types. The intent is to provide enough basic understanding so that the interested readers can select an appropriate antenna for their application and then design and build one for themselves. More than anything this book is intended to give the reader a basic understanding of what radio waves are, how they behave, and insight to the creative thought processes used to build the antennas that launch and receive them.

Book Synopsis Analysis and Design of Transmitarray Antennas by : Ahmed H. Abdelrahman
Download or read book Analysis and Design of Transmitarray Antennas written by Ahmed H. Abdelrahman and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2017-01-18 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, transmitarray antennas have attracted growing interest with many antenna researchers. Transmitarrays combines both optical and antenna array theory, leading to a low profile design with high gain, high radiation efficiency, and versatile radiation performance for many wireless communication systems. In this book, comprehensive analysis, new methodologies, and novel designs of transmitarray antennas are presented. Detailed analysis for the design of planar space-fed array antennas is presented. The basics of aperture field distribution and the analysis of the array elements are described. The radiation performances (directivity and gain) are discussed using array theory approach, and the impacts of element phase errors are demonstrated. The performance of transmitarray design using multilayer frequency selective surfaces (M-FSS) approach is carefully studied, and the transmission phase limit which are generally independent from the selection of a specific element shape is revealed. The maximum transmission phase range is determined based on the number of layers, substrate permittivity, and the separations between layers. In order to reduce the transmitarray design complexity and cost, three different methods have been investigated. As a result, one design is performed using quad-layer cross-slot elements with no dielectric material and another using triple-layer spiral dipole elements. Both designs were fabricated and tested at X-Band for deep space communications. Furthermore, the radiation pattern characteristics were studied under different feed polarization conditions and oblique angles of incident field from the feed. New design methodologies are proposed to improve the bandwidth of transmitarray antennas through the control of the transmission phase range of the elements. These design techniques are validated through the fabrication and testing of two quad-layer transmitarray antennas at Ku-band. A single-feed quad-beam transmitarray antenna with 50 degrees elevation separation between the beams is investigated, designed, fabricated, and tested at Ku-band. In summary, various challenges in the analysis and design of transmitarray antennas are addressed in this book. New methodologies to improve the bandwidth of transmitarray antennas have been demonstrated. Several prototypes have been fabricated and tested, demonstrating the desirable features and potential new applications of transmitarray antennas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, which has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969, is de voted to the recording, summarizing and indexing of astronomical publications throughout the world. It is prepared under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union (according to a resolution adopted at the 14th General Assembly in 1970). Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts aims to present a comprehensive documentation of literature in all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. Every effort will be made to ensure that the average time interval between the date of receipt of the original literature and publication of the abstracts will not exceed eight months. This time interval is near to that achieved by monthly abstracting journals, com pared to which our system of accumulating abstracts for about six months offers the advantage of greater convenience for the user. Volume 8 contains literature published in 1972 and received before March 15, 1973; some older liter ature which was received late and which is not recorded in earlier volumes is also included.

Book Synopsis Antennas for All Applications by : John Daniel Kraus
Download or read book Antennas for All Applications written by John Daniel Kraus and published by McGraw-Hill Companies. This book was released on 2002 with total page 968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an exciting revision of John Kraus' classic book Antennas, which has been long known as the "Antenna Bible". A new co-author, Ronald Marhefka has joined the author team for this revison. Many new, modern applications have been added-thus the title change to Antennas with All Applications. As well, the references have been updated to include recent additons to the literature. Additionally, the book has been reorganized to make it more user-friendly for both students and professionals. The book now covers the fundamentals of various antennas and concepts in the first half of the book and then gets into more details on those same topics later in the book. This allows a one-semester course to just cover the fundamentals if desired, and a professional to focus on advanced topics if he or she wants.
