Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cherubims - Chariots of God Cherubims, what are they? What did God do with them? They are a mystery even to Bible scholars. Cherubims are first mentioned in the Holy Bible at the end of Genesis Chapter 3. In Exodus, 2 small models of Cherubims are on the Ark of the Testimony (Ark of the Covenant). The Ark of the Covenant was first put in the Tabernacle in the most holy place. Later when the Temple of Solomon (Temple of God) was built, the Ark was put in the most holy place, or Oracle. Solomon made 2 large models of Cherubims within the Oracle of the Temple. Cherubims are not imaginary figures. They are not angels. They are not mere ornaments. God used them mightily! David saw God ride and fly on a Cherub! Ezekiel saw four of them! He called them 'living creatures' before he knew their name. God used the Cherubims to fight for Israel in the Old Testament. Will God use them again? 66

Book Synopsis The Hum of Angels by : Scot McKnight
Download or read book The Hum of Angels written by Scot McKnight and published by WaterBrook. This book was released on 2018-07-17 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would You Recognize an Angel if You Saw One? The majority of earth’s inhabitants believe in Angels. Yet so few of us can claim to have seen one. Why? Perhaps it’s because in order to encounter one, we first have to learn what to look for and how to look! We live in a world where the natural and supernatural overlap. Angels are constantly on mission from God and constantly at work in this world. From the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation, Scripture is filled with hundreds of references to these wondrous creatures. In this creative work, Scot McKnight explores what the Bible says – and doesn’t say – about these majestic beings. And that’s deeply important because angels are still on mission today. They express God’s love, confirm His presence, and even lead humans in redemptive worship. Don’t just believe in angels. Learn how to recognize these messengers of God that are all around us and know how God might be using them to affect our lives. Now available in a convenient paperback edition, The Hum of Angels illuminates what the Bible says about these heavenly beings; and it helps you to understand the deepest truths about one of God’s most magnificent and yet misunderstood creations. Most People Believe in Angels. It’s What we Believe About them that Matters. Believing in angels is one thing. But how can we know what angels are really like – especially when our preconceived notions have been mostly shape by sensationalized misinterpretations of these wondrous beings? To help sort things out, Scot McKnight untangles fact from fiction on topics such as: * Do loved ones become angels when they die? * Can we hear from angels? * Is there a hierarchy of angels? * Do we have a specific guardian angel? * Should we be scared of angels? * Are cherubs and seraphs different creatures than angels? * Do angels have wings? * Are angels worship leaders?

Book Synopsis Angels, Cherubim, Seraphim and Covid-19. Analogical imagination or a matter of nightmares? by : Tarcisius Mukuka
Download or read book Angels, Cherubim, Seraphim and Covid-19. Analogical imagination or a matter of nightmares? written by Tarcisius Mukuka and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2021-02-08 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exegesis from the year 2020 in the subject Theology - Biblical Theology, grade: 1.0, Kwame Nkrumah University, course: Religious Studies, language: English, abstract: This exegetical exercise attempts a hermeneutics or interpretation of one of the most misunderstood genres of both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian in the role of angels, Cherubim and Seraphim. The author argues that the narrative that describes them is meant to jog our analogical imagination so that our finite mind can try to picture what it is like to be in the presence of the divine. The use of symbols such as animals, sounds, numbers etc is a means of pushing our finite mind to its utmost limit so as to get as close as it can to what is infinite. This is particularly at a time of crisis or dystopian times such as the current Covid-19 pandemic in order to provide hope that evil is not winning but that whatever discombobulation we may be undergoing are but the birth pangs of a new heaven and a new earth. What are described as angels were not mythic creatures. They were human messengers of God. When the concept migrates into Greek mythology, angels, like Hermes, are still messengers but they are more supernatural than terrestrial. When Greek mythology and Hebrew mythology about angels, they gave rise to all kinds of pictorial representations. The purpose of the representations was to stretch our minds and in the case of the Bible to help us reflect on the supernatural and to shore our belief that the Supernatural is still in charge. In relation to the Cherubim and Seraphim, the Hebrew Bible does not even call them angels. It reserved the word angel for human messengers as in Gen 18. Whatever way they are presented in art, they are aids for analogical imagination rather than creatures to keep us awake at night or with which to frighten children. They do not exist outside our analogical imagination. Like Greek drama, when we read the narrative, we are not meant to be bystanders but participants. In Isaiah 6, for instance, you are not meant to observing Isaiah but you are a co-participant in his drama. If he is afraid, you are also afraid. If he is dejected, you are also dejected. If at the end there is a silver lining at the end of his horizon, that should go for you too. The narrative is meant to have a cathartic effect.
