Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The earliest history of Babylon is little known. Among the many cities flourishing in southern Iraq, the town first appears in texts in the third millennium BC. Until the last century of the third millennium, few references existed to Babylon; however, offerings made to the temple of Enlil in Nippur during this period (when Babylon was part of an empire ruled by Ur) suggest a city already of some size and wealth. From relative obscurity in the middle of the 18th century BC, Babylon emerged as the political center of southern Mesopotamia. It held this position almost continuously for the next 1,400 years. Near Baghdad, around 85 kilometers south of the Euphrates, is the site of Babylon. The area is located north of the great alluvial plain of southern Iraq, a landscape of silts deposited by the Tigris and Euphrates into a vast rift created by tectonic movement as the Arabian plate slips beneath the neighboring Eurasian plate. In addition to defining modern-day Iraq's northern and eastern boundaries, the Taurus and Zagros mountain ranges were created by the same collision. As a result, Mesopotamia encompasses several environmental zones, but Babylon itself is found in the flat alluvial plain in southern Iraq. In addition to containing one of the world's earliest cities3, the table is subject to several significant environmental constraints that have shaped human settlements since long before the foundation of Babylon. Rain-fed agriculture is beyond the reach of this area due to its high temperatures. Despite the little precipitation this part of Iraq receives, it is uneven and unreliable: the bulk of a season's rain can fall in a single downpour, damaging crops as severe droughts.4 Human habitation is dependent on the two great rivers, and the permanent settlement requires irrigation. Upon establishment, However, on the levees of canals, such a system could benefit from the rich alluvial soils and support highly productive agriculture. In explaining the region's early urbanization and accompanying economic development, many contend that the region's ability to produce large agricultural surpluses played a significant role, though in what way is hotly contested. Herodotus was undoubtedly impressed. As a grain-bearing country, Assyria [meaning Mesopotamia] is the richest globally, he writes in his description of the fifth century BC. Figs, grapes, olives, or other fruit trees are not grown there, but the grain fields tend to produce crops two hundredfold and three hundredfold in exceptional years. At least three inches wide are the wheat and barley blades. Millet and sesame grow to an astonishing size, as I know, but those who have not visited Babylon have refused to believe even what I have already described as its fertility. Sesame oil is the only oil they use, and date palms, most of which bear fruit, provide them with food, wine, and honey.

Book excerpt: The ancient world was full of many fantastic cities and places, and like today's major cities, the great ancient cities were hubs of trade, religion, and science. Writing was first invented in ancient cities, and many important scientific discoveries were also made in them, some of which are still used in the modern world. Among the many cities of the ancient world, Rome and Athens may come to mind first, but the city of Babylon in the land of Mesopotamia was already an ancient, venerated city when the others were still inconsequential settlements. The region's religions continue to captivate people for many of the same reasons today's best known religions and their histories fascinate people. The religion practiced by the ancient Mesopotamians provides a certain mix between the mundane and the surreal, and at the same time aspects of it are both familiar and bizarre to people today. Some find themselves drawn to it based on its preeminent position in religious history as the oldest documented religion in the world. Others become fascinated with the close connections between some of the Mesopotamian religious texts, which include a flood story, a creation story and a story of the righteous sufferer, and their parallels in the Hebrew Bible. Today the Mesopotamians and their religion are sources of curiosity, but thousands of years ago, the religions were integral parts of their lives. From their birth to their death, deities surrounded them, and whether their social interactions were on the level of a smaller city or that of a larger nation-state, deities played key roles in the social fabric of their society. Whereas the Israelites were one people who worshipped a single god, Mesopotamian religions hailed from many sources that spanned thousands of years. For example, the Sumerian influence resulted in citizens worshipping many deities in Babylon during the Neo-Babylonian Empire. In ancient Mesopotamia, families formed the basis of local communities, and from that core, states, kingdoms, and empires often derived their identity and legitimacy. Of course, the family unit also played a crucial role in the development of religious beliefs and myths, and one of the most influential is the Anunnaki. Scores of religious texts from ancient Mesopotamia - written in Sumerian cuneiform and Akkadian cuneiform - relate how the Anunnaki were the second generation of gods and goddesses. However, scholars debate their abilities, roles, and even which deities were considered among the Anunnaki. Many texts describe the Anunnaki collectively as guardians of the Underworld, yet in other texts, they are mentioned as protectors of the heavens, and in other texts, they are described as the weavers of human fate. Many of the members of the Anunnaki can be deduced, and sometimes their leaders were named, but it is important to note that none of the people in Mesopotamia ever worshipped this group as a collective. As a result, the Anunnaki's mysterious and sometimes contradictory nature has resulted in interesting modern interpretations. Although some modern scholars have studied the Anunnaki, most of those studies have focused on specific members of the family, not the group as a whole. Meanwhile, the Anunnaki's arcane nature has led some New Age enthusiasts to declare them as ancient aliens and space travelers who gave their astronomical knowledge to the ancient Sumerians. Beyond these fanciful and bizarre theories, though, is a fascinating group of deities that played a significant role in Mesopotamian religion for 2,500 years. The story of the Anunnaki began with the Sumerians, the founders of Mesopotamian civilization, and ended with the Neo-Babylonians, who are best known from the Old Testament. Over that long span, the Anunnaki's role in Mesopotamian religion changed, but they remained a constant, nonetheless.

Layard carried out a series of excavations among the ruins of the ancient city of Nineveh, "that great city, wherein are more than sixteen thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left; and also much cattle" (Jonah iv, II). Its ruins lie on the left or east bank of the Tigris, exactly opposite the town of Al-Mawsil, or Môsul, which was founded by the Sassanians and marks the site of Western Nineveh. At first Layard thought that these ruins were not those of Nineveh, which he placed at Nimrûd, about 20 miles downstream, but of one of the other cities that were builded by Asshur (see Gen. x, 11, 12). Thanks, however, to Christian, Roman and Muhammadan tradition, there is no room for doubt about it, and the site of Nineveh has always been known. The fortress which the Arabs built there in the seventh century was known as "Kal'at-Nînawî, i.e., "Nineveh Castle," for many centuries, and all the Arab geographers agree in saying that tile mounds opposite Môsul contain the ruins of the palaces and walls of Nineveh. And few of them fail to mention that close by them is "Tall Nabi Yûnis,"i.e., the Hill from which the Prophet Jonah preached repentance to the inhabitants of Nineveh, that "exceeding great city of three days' journey" (Jonah iii, 3). Local tradition also declares that the prophet was buried in the Hill, and his supposed tomb is shown there to this day.

Book excerpt: A superior collection of controversial underground materials relaying an amazing synthesis of the secret evolution of Anunnaki traditions -- both ancient and modern. The new second edition of the complete Mardukite Year-4 (2012) Anthology revised in honor of the Mardukite 9th Anniversary and produced in serial with the annual anthologies of the Mardukite Core: Year-1 "Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible" (2009), Year-2 "Gates of the Necronomicon" (2010) and Year-3 "Necronomicon Grimoire" (2011). Joshua Free's underground classic "History of the Necronomicon" includes all materials from "Enochian Magic & The Kabbalah" (Liber-K), "Stargate to the Abyss" (Liber 555) and "Nabu Speaks: Of Babylon & Egypt" (Liber-12A). ENOCHIAN MAGIC & THE KABBALAH (Liber K) illustrates the singular origin of the mystical and spiritual traditions on the planet, all directed toward a human relationship with the "Divine," however that might be viewed -- angels, elementals, fairies, gods or other 'alien' beings -- and more importantly, the methods by which they have been attracted into one's life. in STARGATE TO THE ABYSS (Liber 555), the modern "Mardukite" research organization has spent nearly half a decade exploring the mysteries of Mesopotamia, the Anunnaki and related subjects. After having completed the entire 'Necronomicon Anunnaki' literary legacy with the Mardukite Chamberlains, prolific writer, editor and founder of the "Mardukites," Joshua Free, ends his years of silence concerning the Simon Necronomicon by finally providing his expert commentary on the classic text. NABU SPEAKS: PART ONE: OF EGYPT & BABYLON (Liber 12) is an amazingly unique and historically verifiable first-person narrative explains the struggles and successes of the ancient Nabu tribes, a "Mardukite clan" that sought to famously raise Babylon and Egypt to power by 'Divine Right' under MARDUK-RA; the rise and fall of the Sumerian Anunnaki, the creation and disposal of upgraded humans, the birth of societal systems of religion and politics, as well as interpersonal exchanges and feuds that were taking place "behind-the-scenes" among the Anunnaki themselves, those "ancient aliens" who became fixed in human consciousness as gods, angels, demons and spirits.

Book excerpt: Published by Times Square Press http://www.timessquarepress.com/ Author's website:www.maximilliendelafayettebibliography.comAn authoritative book of the history of the Anunnaki, religion, names & roles of gods who created MAN from clay, as well as spirits and demons. A powerful book which explains in simple English how early humans & final "types" of humans were created genetically by the Anunnaki some 65,000 years ago in Mesopotamia. The book is solely based upon the Sumerian-Akkadian-Assyrian tablets, archaeology, history, Anunnaki Ulema, literature and linguistic sources from Babylon, Uruk, Ur, Eridu and other ancient Mesopotamian cities. In this academic, informative and entertaining book, there is no room for false/bogus translations and ridiculous interpretations of the history of the Anunaki, Sumero-Akkadian-Assyrian tablets and fabrication of stories about planets and stars which do not exist, and childish tales of expeditions of ancient aliens and Anunnaki who came to Earth to mine gold.
