This book was released on 2016-10-08 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A New Selection of Sacred Music, Consisting of Nearly Two Hundred and Fifty Approved Psalm and Hymn Tunes: From the Works of the Most Esteemed Authors, Ancient and Modern, Comprising Nearly the Whole of the Popular Melodies IN the arrangement of the parts in the following work, the Air or principal melody has invariably been placed next above the Bass, and is always designed for female voices, and in the passages marked Pia, for them exclu sively. The convenience of those persons, who perform on the Organ, or other keyed instruments, has also been consulted in this arrangement, and by introducing double notes, where the parts move in thirds. To learners, or other persons not well, Versed in Music, it may be neces sary to state, that where such passages occur, the upper notes belong to the Air; the lower ones being always a second or subordinate part. The Tenor is placed next above the Air, and the Alto, or counter-tenor, on the upper stave, that the ledger lines, which are so frequent ly used in this part, may be incommoded as little as pos sible. Where double orchoosing notes are introduced in the Bass, the performer should in general, sing all the upper, or all the lower notes, or the effect will not be so good. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Dyer's Philadelphia Selection of Sacred Music, Consisting of About Three Hundred Approved Psalm and Hymn Tunes: From the Works of the Most Esteemed Authors, Ancient and Modern, Arranged for Four Voices, and Adapted to All the Metres in General Use Amongst the Various Religious Denominations; And a Concise Introduction to the Art of Singing The great variety of peculiar metre hymns in use in the Methodist, and some other denominations, has rendered it impracticable for the Editor, consistent with his plan, and in a publication of this size, to insert tunes suitable for all of them; for these, indeed, would alone fill a moderate sized volume: those which are introduced in this work, comprising a variety of nearly thirty different kinds, are such as are more generally called for, and which he trusts will prove acceptable and useful. Download or read book Psalm-Hymns Volumes 1 And 2 written by L. L. Larkins and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-03-20 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simply, seventy-two singable Psalm lyrics are contained in this trimmed down version, without any added study annotations or footnotes. The first two volumes of the Psalms here, are set to the great hymns of the Faith for personal and communal reflection in song. The Psalms offer time-honored traditions of expression describing the wonder of God during terror, disaster, lament, praise, gratitude and hope. These 72 Psalms are sung to favorite hymns for purposes of evening and morning worship cycles, theatrical recitals and antiphonal choirs. The term, "Psalms," in the Hebrew means "Praises." Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16 (HCSB) The wisdom of God's law lives in the human soul. It informs nature, architecture, medicine and science. It creates lament, repentance, awe and comfort. It also infuses goodness into one's choices and activities. God's wisdom is like a mirror reflecting His personality, His desires, His power. Ancient prayers of witnesses, reciting the Lord's acts of lovingkindness and odd silences, help us now sing praise to the God of our Faith within the reflection of this mirror. My hope is, by reciting or singing these Psalms, our souls are transformed by a new awareness of God's awesome presence. May the Psalms translate into spiritual works, those daily refractions of love and light into communities.
