Book Synopsis Analytic and Probabilistic Approaches to Dynamics in Negative Curvature by : Françoise Dal'Bo
Download or read book Analytic and Probabilistic Approaches to Dynamics in Negative Curvature written by Françoise Dal'Bo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-17 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work consists of two introductory courses, developing different points of view on the study of the asymptotic behaviour of the geodesic flow, namely: the probabilistic approach via martingales and mixing (by Stéphane Le Borgne); the semi-classical approach, by operator theory and resonances (by Frédéric Faure and Masato Tsujii). The contributions aim to give a self-contained introduction to the ideas behind the three different approaches to the investigation of hyperbolic dynamics. The first contribution focus on the convergence towards a Gaussian law of suitably normalized ergodic sums (Central Limit Theorem). The second one deals with Transfer Operators and the structure of their spectrum (Ruelle-Pollicott resonances), explaining the relation with the asymptotics of time correlation function and the periodic orbits of the dynamics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes a family of algorithms for studying the global structure of systems. By a finite covering of the phase space we construct a directed graph with vertices corresponding to cells of the covering and edges corresponding to admissible transitions. The method is used, among other things, to locate the periodic orbits and the chain recurrent set, to construct the attractors and their basins, to estimate the entropy, and more.

Book Synopsis Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians by : S.D. Chatterji
Download or read book Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians written by S.D. Chatterji and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1669 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the first ICM was held in Zürich in 1897, it has become the pinnacle of mathematical gatherings. It aims at giving an overview of the current state of different branches of mathematics and its applications as well as an insight into the treatment of special problems of exceptional importance. The proceedings of the ICMs have provided a rich chronology of mathematical development in all its branches and a unique documentation of contemporary research. They form an indispensable part of every mathematical library. The Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians 1994, held in Zürich from August 3rd to 11th, 1994, are published in two volumes. Volume I contains an account of the organization of the Congress, the list of ordinary members, the reports on the work of the Fields Medalists and the Nevanlinna Prize Winner, the plenary one-hour addresses, and the invited addresses presented at Section Meetings 1 - 6. Volume II contains the invited address for Section Meetings 7 - 19. A complete author index is included in both volumes. '...the content of these impressive two volumes sheds a certain light on the present state of mathematical sciences and anybody doing research in mathematics should look carefully at these Proceedings. For young people beginning research, this is even more important, so these are a must for any serious mathematics library. The graphical presentation is, as always with Birkhäuser, excellent....' Book Synopsis Modern SABR Analytics by : Alexandre Antonov
Download or read book Modern SABR Analytics written by Alexandre Antonov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-23 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on recent advances in option pricing under the SABR model, this book shows how to price options under this model in an arbitrage-free, theoretically consistent manner. It extends SABR to a negative rates environment, and shows how to generalize it to a similar model with additional degrees of freedom, allowing simultaneous model calibration to swaptions and CMSs. Since the SABR model is used on practically every trading floor to construct interest rate options volatility cubes in an arbitrage-free manner, a careful treatment of it is extremely important. The book will be of interest to experienced industry practitioners, as well as to students and professors in academia. Aimed mainly at financial industry practitioners (for example quants and former physicists) this book will also be interesting to mathematicians who seek intuition in the mathematical finance.

Book Synopsis Random Walks and Heat Kernels on Graphs by : Martin T. Barlow
Download or read book Random Walks and Heat Kernels on Graphs written by Martin T. Barlow and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-23 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This introduction to random walks on infinite graphs gives particular emphasis to graphs with polynomial volume growth. It offers an overview of analytic methods, starting with the connection between random walks and electrical resistance, and then proceeding to study the use of isoperimetric and Poincaré inequalities. The book presents rough isometries and looks at the properties of a graph that are stable under these transformations. Applications include the 'type problem': determining whether a graph is transient or recurrent. The final chapters show how geometric properties of the graph can be used to establish heat kernel bounds, that is, bounds on the transition probabilities of the random walk, and it is proved that Gaussian bounds hold for graphs that are roughly isometric to Euclidean space. Aimed at graduate students in mathematics, the book is also useful for researchers as a reference for results that are hard to find elsewhere.
