Book Synopsis Analyses on Waves and the Wave Resistance Due to Transom Stern Ships by : B. Yim
Download or read book Analyses on Waves and the Wave Resistance Due to Transom Stern Ships written by B. Yim and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Waves and the wave resistance due to a ship with a transom stern are analyzed starting with an exact formulation of the general ship wave problem. Green's theorem is utilized together with the well known Green's function which satisfies the linear free surface boundary condition on the free surface. Then a linearization is attempted for two types of ships; thin ships and flat ships. A transom stern ship is represented by the combination of these two types of ships. For the analysis of transom stern ships, it is required to take at least the second order terms in the formal development. It is found that the immersed transom stern acts to cancel stern waves. Using a limited form of Michell's wave resistance formula, the wave resistance of the transom stern ship is analyzed. (Author).

Download or read book Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures written by You-Sheng Wu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-08-22 with total page 721 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings contains the papers presented at The 8th International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures held in China in September 2001 - the first PRADS of the 21st Century. The overall aim of PRADS symposia is to advance the design of ships and other floating structures as a professional discipline and science by exchanging knowledge and promoting discussion of relevant topics in the fields of naval architecture and marine and offshore engineering. In line with the aim, in welcoming the new era, this Symposium is intended to increase international co-operation and give a momentum for the new development of design and production technology of ships and other floating structures for efficiency, economy, safety, and environmental production. The main themes of this Symposium are Design Synthesis, Production, Hydrodynamics, Structures and Materials of Ships and Floating Systems. Proposals for over 270 papers from 26 countries and regions within the themes were received for PRADS 2001, and about 170 papers were accepted for presentation at the symposium. With the high quality of the proposed papers the Local Organising Committee had a difficult task to make a balanced selection and to control the total number of papers for fitting into the allocated time schedule approved by the Standing Committee of PRADS. Volume I covers design synthesis, production and part of hydrodynamics. Volume II contains the rest of hydrodynamics, and structures and materials.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This set of two volumes comprises the collection of the papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Maritime Technology and Engineering (MARTECH 2020) that was held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 16 to 19 November 2020. The Conference has evolved from the series of biennial national conferences in Portugal, which have become an international event, and which reflect the internationalization of the maritime sector and its activities. MARTECH 2020 is the fifth of this new series of biennial conferences. The set comprises 180 contributions that were reviewed by an International Scientific Committee. Volume 2 is dedicated to ship performance and hydrodynamics, including CFD, maneuvering, seakeeping, moorings and resistance. In addition, it includes sections on ship machinery, renewable energy, fishing and aquaculture, coastal structures, and waves and currents.

Book Synopsis A Ship with a Cylindrical Bulb Horizontally Oriented at the Bow by : Bohyun Yim
Download or read book A Ship with a Cylindrical Bulb Horizontally Oriented at the Bow written by Bohyun Yim and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A proper ship form for a given cylindrical bulb horizontally oriented at a ship bow is analyzed. A basic mathematical form for a ship is assumed from the concept of double model ship and Michell's ship. Considering a point doublet bulb and the proper ship form, we superposed many such bulbous ships so that the bulb could fill in the given cylinder. (Author).
