This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis International Perspectives on Mathematics Curriculum by : Denisse R Thompson
Download or read book International Perspectives on Mathematics Curriculum written by Denisse R Thompson and published by IAP. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Curriculum can be defined in a variety of ways. It might be viewed as a body of knowledge, a product, or a process. Curricula can differ as they are conceptualized from various theoretical perspectives to address the needs of teachers, students, and the context of schooling. One reason to study curriculum is “to reveal the expectations, processes and outcomes of students’ school learning experiences that are situated in different cultural and system contexts. … further studies of curriculum practices and changes are much needed to help ensure the success of educational reforms in the different cultural and system contexts” (Kulm & Li, 2009, p. 709). This volume highlights international perspectives on curriculum and aims to broaden the wider mathematics education community’s understandings of mathematics curriculum through viewing a variety of ways that curricula are developed, understood, and implemented in different jurisdictions/countries. Within this volume, we define curriculum broadly as the set of mathematics standards or outcomes, the messages inherent in mathematics curriculum documents and resources, how these standards are understood by a variety of stakeholders, and how they are enacted in classrooms. The focus is on the written, implied, and enacted curriculum in various educational settings throughout the world.

This book was released on 2022-05-06 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motor games are incredibly useful in enhancing education and developing critical skills; they can entertain, produce pleasant emotions, improve moods, and increase the level of relationships. Motor games allow social, emotional, and cognitive development as well as the acquisition of motor skills such as knowledge and mastery of body, postural control and adjustment, and improvement of coordination. However, it is essential to select the appropriate game for each context to achieve the desired learning in all students. Further research on the opportunities, challenges, and future directions of motor games in education is necessary to successfully implement them. The Handbook of Research on Using Motor Games in Teaching and Learning Strategy presents significant advances in motor game education and collects research evidence that uncovers the certainties and testifies to the educational power of motor games in various situations and specific contexts that promote the learning of participants. Covering topics such as emotional physical education and educational mediation, this major reference work is ideal for researchers, academicians, educators, practitioners, and students.

Download or read book Challenges in the Construction of an Inclusive Society written by António Lopes and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-01-23 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In contemporary societies, identities are believed to be more fluid, less easily definable, demanding new articulations and new dialogues. However, some communities seem unable to engage in a dialogue traversing cultural borders and fostering the appreciation of diversity as the cornerstone of a more just and humane world. Is intercultural exchange truly possible in societies riddled with tensions of every sort? Multicultural and intercultural interactions may have given us the opportunity to enrich our understanding of the other, but they have also posed new challenges for education practices and educational politics. This collection of studies addresses some of the challenges posed by diversity and inequality in the construction of inclusive societies.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Stress and Academic Anxiety by : Luiz Ricardo Vieira Gonzaga
Download or read book Handbook of Stress and Academic Anxiety written by Luiz Ricardo Vieira Gonzaga and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-10 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook presents an overview of research on test anxiety and related forms of students’ stress and anxiety at schools and other academic environments, and also brings together a series of psychological interventions to prevent and treat anxiety disorders related to academic assessments. Its aim is to inform about strategies that help promote more adaptive behaviors towards academic assessment, as well as discuss other variables (e.g., bullying) that influence test anxiety, a typical stressor at the school and academic environment. These stressors can impair the students’ socio-cognitive development, impairing their ability to study and posing a risk to their mental health. The volume is organized in three parts. The first part brings together chapters discussing different variables and processes associated with academic anxiety, such as test anxiety and social influence, academic motivation, bullying, and procrastination. The second part is completely dedicated to psychological interventions with students designed to promote adaptive coping strategies to deal with academic anxiety and to prevent the development of psychopathologies associated with it. These interventions are based on different approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, analytic behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness, among others. Finally, the third part presents strategies that teachers can adopt to manage academic anxiety. The Handbook of Stress and Academic Anxiety: Psychological Processes and Interventions with Students and Teachers will be a valuable resource for school and clinical psychologists, teachers, school managers and policy makers by providing information based on the best scientific evidences to help students cope with academic anxiety, prevent the development of psychopathologies associated with it and promote mental health at schools and other academic environments.
