Book Synopsis Digital Transmission by : Dayan Adionel Guimaraes
Download or read book Digital Transmission written by Dayan Adionel Guimaraes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-01-18 with total page 887 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Transmission – A Simulation-Aided Introduction with VisSim/Comm is a book in which basic principles of digital communication, mainly pertaining to the physical layer, are emphasized. Nevertheless, these principles can serve as the fundamentals that will help the reader to understand more advanced topics and the associated technology. In this book, each topic is addressed in two different and complementary ways: theoretically and by simulation. The theoretical approach encompasses common subjects covering principles of digital transmission, like notions of probability and stochastic processes, signals and systems, baseband and passband signaling, signal-space representation, spread spectrum, multi-carrier and ultra wideband transmission, carrier and symbol-timing recovery, information theory and error-correcting codes. The simulation approach revisits the same subjects, focusing on the capabilities of the communication system simulation software VisSim/Comm on helping the reader to fulfill the gap between the theory and its practical meaning. The presentation of the theory is made easier with the help of 357 illustrations. A total of 101 simulation files supplied in the accompanying CD support the simulation-oriented approach. A full evaluation version and a viewer-only version of VisSim/Comm are also supplied in the CD.

Book Synopsis The Cerrados of Brazil by : Paulo S.
Download or read book The Cerrados of Brazil written by Paulo S. and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2013-02-05 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The massive grasslands of Brazil -- known as the cerrados -- which cover roughly a quarter of its land surface and are among the most threatened regions in South America, have received little media attention. This book brings together leading researchers on the area to produce the first detailed account in English of the natural history and ecology of the cerrado/savanna ecosystem. Given their extent and threatened status, the richness of their flora and fauna, and the lack of familiarity with their unique ecology at the international level, the cerrados are badly in need of this important and timely work.
Book Synopsis Global Climate Change and Tropical Ecosystems by : John M. Kimble
Download or read book Global Climate Change and Tropical Ecosystems written by John M. Kimble and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-04-04 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tropical ecosystems - the regions between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn - play an important role in global processes, economic issues, and political concerns. In their natural state, tropical ecosystems support a large quantity of above- and below-ground biomass, and constitute a major part of the terrestrial carbon pool. Conversion of the natural ecosystem to agriculture and forestry ecosystems disturbs this ecological balance. Global Climate Change and Tropical Ecosystems presents data on carbon pool fluxes from case studies in 12 countries in tropical regions. The chapters cover: Characteristics of tropical ecosystems Soil and biotic carbon pools Impacts of land use and soil management Slash-and-burn practices Crop residue and fertility management This volume adds to the understanding of pedospheric processes in tropical ecosystems and how to better use soils as a sink for carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. With Global Climate Change and Tropical Ecosystems you will understand the link between soil productivity, environmental quality and the global carbon cycle, not only in these ecologically sensitive regions but worldwide.
Book Synopsis Foundations of Paleoparasitology by : Adauto Araújo
Download or read book Foundations of Paleoparasitology written by Adauto Araújo and published by SciELO - Editora FIOCRUZ. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unprecedented initiative in the world, the book compiles the available knowledge on the subject and presents the state-of-the-art in paleoparasitology – term coined about 30 years ago by Brazilian Fiocruz researcher Luiz Fernando Ferreira, pioneer in this science which is concerned with the study of parasites in the past. Multidisciplinary by essence, paleoparasitology gathers contributions from social scientists, biologists, historians, archaeologists, pharmacists, doctors and many other professionals, either in biomedical or humanities fields. With varied applications such as in evolutionary or migration studies, their results often depend on the association between laboratory findings and cultural remains. The book is divided into four parts - Parasites, Hosts, and Human Environment; Parasites Remains Preserved in Various Materials and Techniques in Microscopy and Molecular Diagnostics; Parasite Findings in Archeological Remains: a paleographic view; and Special Studies and Perspectives. Signed by authors from various countries such as Argentina, USA, Germany and France, the book has chapters devoted to the discoveries of paleoparasitology on all continents.
