It confronts us with obstacles as we journey on, but it also offers us various pathways and routes that we can take. Comparing our life-journey to the travels we make in life, this book is an invitation to readers to face up to those challenges and to meet them through a series of reflections called "comma-moments": the chance to "stop momentarily and mull things over," or to "create space in time" as they go about the business of living from day to day. Like commas in a sentence, which help us to read and interpret its meaning properly, a life punctuated with short reflective breaks enables us to draw out its meaning and significance. Drawing on his vast educational background and diverse global travels, the author shares with readers some "thoughts for food" while on our life-journeys. These reflections, as well as anecdotes and stories, also avail themselves of the real-life experiences of others and the wisdom of many contemporary voices and historical figures throughout the world, especially those who have been concerned with the kind of reflection that will help as we move on in life. In particular, it discusses a conceptual life-map to aid us navigate our way in life and to step up to its challenges.

Book excerpt: God’s purpose for our lives is positioned inside the 365 days of the year He empowered us to experience. Remember, nothing just happens in our 365 days. The good, bad, and the ugly are all working together for our good, including why we are here and how our duties pertain to creation and the Creator. Still, we may sometimes wonder if there is a divine plan for humankind or if we just exist. In a spiritual guide shared to help believers build and nurture a strong relationship with Christ, Caren Ellison invites truth seekers on a journey with her as she explores God’s plan for humankind. She searches the scriptures for our purposes, and within each of the 365 days, illustrates how God’s plan has helped shape our lives. Throughout her guide that also shares her unique life experiences, Ellison gently reminds believers that we were created to live according to His purpose and plan, and we glorify His presence as our Lord and Savior when we walk in His purpose. The 365: God’s One-Year Plan utilizes scripture and a pastor’s life experiences to guide believers to understand and embrace God’s plan and purpose for them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In "Why Not Have It All", we are shown how best to navigate the turbulent waters of modern life. As a woman, this can be both complex and demanding, for there has been a sea change in societal mores which has, in many instances, left us in newly uncharted waters. Bonita Shelby is a woman who has, with God’s help, managed to find her way and wants to act as a beacon to others—keeping us off the rocks that might otherwise capsize us. The shifting demands of love, marriage, children, education, and employment need not overwhelm us. Indeed, when balanced they can form the very pillars of a life of fulfilment through God’s favor and grace. "Why Not Have It All" presents a wealth of practical advice, for women(of all ages) that is backed up by scripture, and set against a number of compelling biographical glimpses into the life of Bonita herself. Personal and powerful, it is a work that is sure to inspire and instruct likeminded readers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am not the subject of the book. The book is an attempt to reveal the journey from being a sinner to becoming a saint, a true authentic child of God. God is the focus in all my endeavors. Although part of my life is reflected to express this laborious achievement, it is not my autobiography, but a testimony. Have you ever been trapped in a place you did not want to be, could not explain where you were or knew where to go? This was day to day for me in this life of darkness. I did not have answers nor did I know anything else existed I just needed to be free. I was trapped in bondage with a void in my life then one day I heard of Jesus. Thank God He set me free. Giving Him my hand and allowing His light to show me the way, I received salvation and BORN new life. This was the end and the beginning of my life, the end to my life running around on earth doing as I wanted to do, not heeding to God's gentle Voice and unction for my life. And the beginning to the death process of the life that I knew, being strong, independent and my own person. The price has been paid and we are not saved by our works, but casually living through this Christian walk in this dark, dark world will not sustain you. In this book, identify the struggles and trials some will face, but know that you are not walking alone. Your heavenly Father not only walks along side you, but in times of great sorrow He carries you mind, body and soul. Walk in the light of the Lord and no darkness shall come near you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the first major update to this classic book in many years, Collins traces the history and contours of Black women’s ideas and actions to argue that Black feminist thought is the discourse that fosters Black women’s survival, persistence, and success against the odds. Through meticulous research that synthesizes the important intellectual work done by Black women, Collins’s timely update demonstrates that Black women’s ideas and actions are not marginal concerns but rather are central to the future of social justice within democratic societies. The combination of the text’s classic arguments and a preface and epilogue written expressly for this edition speak to people who have long been working on social justice and to a new generation of readers who are encountering the ideas and actions of Black women for the first time. For this 30th year anniversary edition, Patricia Hill Collins examines how the ideas in this classic text speak to contemporary social issues and identifies the directions needed for the future of Black feminist thought.

Yet being a witness was all part of a bigger plan. As the young man who hit the woman saw Tim in his rear view mirror, God was in Tims. Learn how Tims mother, Emily, deals with losing her son and how her faith is only strengthened by what God has done in her life, including mending her relationship with her daughter. This manuscript chronicles the authors journey through grief to ultimate healing after suffering the loss of her son, every parents nightmare. With utmost honesty and courage, the author takes the reader through her shock, sorrow, anger, and confusion, along with sharing her familys story prior to and after her sons death. Holding nothing back, the author engages with the reader and maintains that connection throughout the manuscript. Awakened souls living in different parts of the world are now finding themselves drawn to the Pleiadian mission of Lord Muruga. Sounds extraordinary, right? How did this all begin? It begins with the story of a young man pursuing to be a cinematographer. Destiny, however, had other plans for him. His life changed unexpectedly with the sudden appearance of his spiritual guide Lord Muruga who leads him on a series of spiritual quests. It led to several mystical experiences in his otherwise day-to-day world. After almost two decades of spiritual travel, he looks back at the journey which transformed him into a global spiritual leader under the benevolent grace of Lord Muruga.

Later many illustrious rulers expanded the Mysore state in four directions. This biographical work "Aalida Mahaswamigalu" by Rajasevasaktha Padmashri C K Venkataramaiah traces the ebb and tide of history of Mysore. The British Government decided upon restitution of monarchy by appointing Sri Chamarajendra Wodeyar as the successor to Sri Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar in 1881. This enlightened Western educated ruler began modernisation of Mysore through administrative reforms. This fruitful thirteen years reign came to an end by his untimely death. Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar aged ten years was appointed as the next successor to the throne by Queen-Empress Victoria. The mother of the young Prince was appointed as the caretaker regent of the Mysore state. The Queen Dowager Sri Vanivilasa Sannidhana Kempananjammani ruled the state ably and efficiently for eight years (1895-1902) After the investiture ceremony in 1902 by Lord Curzon the glorious golden direct rule of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar dawned. The Maharaja began modernising the Mysore state through political and economic reforms. The establishment of University of Mysore, Shivana Samudra Hydro-Electric Project, Bhadravathi Iron and Steel factory, KRS dam across river Cauvery, Chemical Industries, Sandalwood oil and soaps & detergents factory, Mysore Silk weaving factory etc are some of his achievments. The Maharaja adhered to the tenets of "Raja Dharma" and the people called him "Raja Rishi" Mahatma Gandhi described the Mysore state as "Rama Rajya. He worked diligently for the emancipation of dalits and women. This progressive rule of the Maharaja came to an abrupt end with his sudden death In 1940 (56 years old).

Book excerpt: As one of the most profound and insightful scholars of the Middle East, Fouad Ajami’s sensibility was powerfully shaped by his childhood and youth in Lebanon in the ’50s and ’60s. The time was a transitional one—not only for the Middle East, but for America and the world. Lebanon in this era was just coming into its own as a cosmopolitan destination of the international jet set as well as earnest American educators seeking to modernize Arab society. The disruptive forces of the Middle East—the Cold War, the Palestinian conflict, religious extremism, the money and oil of the Gulf—were only just beginning to appear. In this haunting and beautifully written memoir of his Lebanese childhood, the late Middle East scholar, Fouad Ajami, casts a discerning light into the corners and alleyways of an Arab reality that would later erupt into full view.
