Book Synopsis The Impact Of Ash Deposition On Coal Fired Plants by : Jim Williamson
Download or read book The Impact Of Ash Deposition On Coal Fired Plants written by Jim Williamson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-10-12 with total page 812 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coal provides almost 40% of the world's electricity, and despite the understandable concern with respect to the environmental impact associated with coal use, forecasts from the International Energy Agency predict, that worldwide coal use will increase by up to 2% per annum until the year 2OlO. Faced with this increase, it is clearly important that the most efficient and environmentally acceptable clean coal technologies are available. This book is comprised of the proceedings of the Engineering Foundation Conference held in June 1993 in England. The objective of the conference was to present ideas on methods of predicting and reducing the effects of ash deposition in coal conversion systems, highlighting the problems experienced in industry, considering both utilities and industrial plants, and providing a view of the technology of coal ash deposition and its impact. Better techniques are needed to reduce the impact of ash deposition in coal fired plants, and these proceedings should form a reference document for anyone either experiencing slagging or actively engaged in trying to understand or eliminate the phenomenon.

Book Synopsis Feasibility of Recirculating Bottom Ash Transport Water in Coal-fuelled Power Generating Stations by : Dearborn Environmental Consulting Services
Download or read book Feasibility of Recirculating Bottom Ash Transport Water in Coal-fuelled Power Generating Stations written by Dearborn Environmental Consulting Services and published by Cepa Office Environment Canada Environmental Protection. This book was released on 1983 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examines the technical feasibility of recirculating the water used to transport bottom ash in coal- fired steam electric generating stations. Information for this examination was gathered from the literature, from generating stations, and from manufacturers of ash handling systems. Successful design and operation of completely recirculating water systems for bottom ash transport must take into account both hydraulic and chemical considerations. To prevent discharge of ash sluice water for hydraulic reasons, there must be no continuing net accumulation of water in the ash system. The total water inputs from in-plant wastes, precipitation, runoff, and fresh water used around the bottom ash system must be balanced by water losses due to occlusion with the bottom ash, evaporation and re-use of excess transport water for other plant services. Hydraulically, zero discharge from recirculating bottom ash transport systems can be achieved by limiting makeup water to the one to two percent normal water loss from the system.
