The following countries and organizations were reviewed - Australia, Canada, Denmark, the European Community, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, American Industrial Hygiene Association, the American National Standards Institute, MSHA, NIOSH, and OSHA. A second more intensive study focused on the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec, the European Union, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
