Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classic Canadian story of the bravery and ingenuity of three animals who find their way home. First published in 1961, The Incredible Journey tells the story of three pets: a young Labrador retriever, an old bull terrier, and a Siamese cat. While their owners are away in England, they are being cared for by a family friend at his home in the country. But a miscommunication occurs between the friend and his housekeeper when he goes on a hunting trip, and the animals are left alone for a several hours, with a gnawing instinct that something has gone wrong. They soon set off on a journey to find home, which instinct tells them is to the west. They travel 400 kilometres across the Northern Ontario wilderness, facing many obstacles along the way: swift-flowing rivers and the rugged landscape; wild animals and unsympathetic humans; starvation, injuries and sheer exhaustion. Separately they would not have survived, but together this disparate group prevails, and they find their way home to the family they love.
Book Synopsis The Incredible Journey of Faith by : Ray Pritchard
Download or read book The Incredible Journey of Faith written by Ray Pritchard and published by Crossway Books. This book was released on 2005-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there hope for America? Will we become the great nation that we are capable of becoming? Or will we slip deeper and deeper into moral and spiritual decline? The good news is that there is hope for America! But only if we humbly bow before God in prayer and confession--as Pastor Joe Wright did before the State House in Topeka, Kansas. Will you join in this profound prayer? If we truly pray this prayer in believing faith we--and our nation--will never be the same. Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says "Woe to those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values. We confess that: We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it moral pluralism; We have worshiped other gods and called it multiculturalism; We have endorsed perversions and called it alternative lifestyle; We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery; We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation; We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare; We have killed our unborn and called it choice; We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable; We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building esteem; We have abused power and called it political savvy; We have coveted our neighbors' possessions and called it ambition; We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression; We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; try us and see if there be some wicked way in us; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. I ask it in the name of your Son, the Living Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen. Do you know the God to whom this prayer is directed? Through Christ, God Himself has provided the way to eternal life. Do you know "the Living Savior, Jesus Christ?" There is only one true God, and no one can truly know God except through His Son, Jesus Christ (John 14:6). "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved" (John 3:16-17). How can you be saved? First, recognize that all of us have sinned (Romans 3:23); ask for God's forgiveness; and finally, believe that Jesus is God's only Son. By doing so you can receive Him into your life as your Lord and Savior and spend eternity with God in Heaven. Won't you pray the prayer below in sincerity and faith, to receive Jesus into your heart today? God, I know I am a sinner and desperately need forgiveness for my sins. I understand that I can only receive this forgiveness through Your Son, Jesus, Who died for my sins and rose from the dead that I might spend all of eternity with You in Heaven. Right now I ask Jesus into my life to be my Savior and Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Book excerpt: In this powerful and personal New York Times bestseller, President Jimmy Carter contemplates how faith has sustained him in happiness and disappointment and considers how we may find it in our own lives. All his life, President Jimmy Carter has been a courageous exemplar of faith. Now he shares the lessons he learned. He writes, “The issue of faith arises in almost every area of human existence, so it is important to understand its multiple meanings. In this book, my primary goal is to explore the broader meaning of faith, its far-reaching effect on our lives, and its relationship to past, present, and future events in America and around the world. The religious aspects of faith are also covered, since this is how the word is most often used, and I have included a description of the ways my faith has guided and sustained me, as well as how it has challenged and driven me to seek a closer and better relationship with people and with God.” Quoting eminent Protestant theologians, in Faith President Carter describes his belief in religious freedom, moral politics, and the place of prayer in his daily life. He examines faith’s many meanings, he describes how to accept it, live it, how to doubt and find faith again. This is a serious and moving reflection from one of America’s most admired and respected citizens.
