Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been prepared under the auspices of Commission I.2 on Thermodynamics of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). The authors of the 18 chapters are all recognized experts in the field. The book gives an up-to-date presentation of equations of state for fluids and fluid mixtures. All principal approaches for developing equations of state are covered. The theoretical basis and practical use of each type of equation is discussed and the strength and weaknesses of each is addressed. Topics addressed include the virial equation of state, cubic equations and generalized van der Waals equations, perturbation theory, integral equations, corresponding stated and mixing rules. Special attention is also devoted to associating fluids, polydisperse fluids, polymer systems, self-assembled systems, ionic fluids and fluids near critical points.

This book was released on 2016-08-23 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Equation of State and Phase Transition of the Spherical Lattice Gas The spherical lattice gas is a simplified model of a gas. We introduce it because we can deduce its equation of state statistical mechanically. We find that it undergoes phase transition in three dimensions, although not in one or two dimensions. We also find that its isotherms and transition curve, shown in Figure 9 are in qualitative agreement with experimental curves. However they exhibit a physically unreasonable negative pressure at very large and very small Specific volumes. This can be traced to an inadequacy of the model for such specific volumes. Book Synopsis Multiparameter Equations of State by : Roland Span
Download or read book Multiparameter Equations of State written by Roland Span and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-04-27 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book deals with the most accurate method to describe thermodynamic property data, with empirical multiparameter equations of state. Due to new theoretical approaches, to increasing demands on the accuracy of thermodynamic property data, and to increasing computer power such equations became a valuable tool for every day calculations in scientific and engineering applications, rather than just the basis of printed property charts and tables. The book is dedicated both to users, who apply such formulations either in form of commercially available software or in form of programs written by themselves, and to scientists engaged in the development of empirical equations of state. Starting from a brief history, it covers the fundamentals of this subject as well as the most recent developments in the fields of highly accurate reference equations, of equations for advanced technical applications, and of the description of mixtures with multiparameter equations of state.

Download or read book Polymerisation of Ethylene written by Paul Allemeersch and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-02-17 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents all information necessary to understand the functioning of a slurry loop reactor for the polymerisation of ethylene into high density polyethylene, and to operate it accordingly. All discussions are based on experimental data from the operation of full scale commercial loop reactors. Methods for off-line modelling and scaling-up from lab to full scale are included, as well as the answers to important questions on the running of two loop reactors in series. Building knowledge from full scale industrial experience. This highly accessible book makes one understand the functioning of slurry loop reactors for the polymerisation of ethylene, and how to operate them. Its methods include off-line modelling, scaling-up and running reactors in series. It is inspiring for all production and process engineers, showing, for the first time, how with full scale reactor data the link is made between firm basic theory and the most practical operating guidelines.
Book Synopsis Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering by : Stanley M. Walas
Download or read book Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering written by Stanley M. Walas and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 689 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering is devoted to the thermodynamic basis and practical aspects of the calculation of equilibrium conditions of multiple phases that are pertinent to chemical engineering processes. Efforts have been made throughout the book to provide guidance to adequate theory and practice. The book begins with a long chapter on equations of state, since it is intimately bound up with the development of thermodynamics. Following material on basic thermodynamics and nonidealities in terms of fugacities and activities, individual chapters are devoted to equilibria primarily between pairs of phases. A few topics that do not fit into these categories and for which the state of the art is not yet developed quantitatively have been relegated to a separate chapter. The chapter on chemical equilibria is pertinent since many processes involve simultaneous chemical and phase equilibria. Also included are chapters on the evaluation of enthalpy and entropy changes of nonideal substances and mixtures, and on experimental methods. This book is intended as a reference and self-study as well as a textbook either for full courses in phase equilibria or as a supplement to related courses in the chemical engineering curriculum. Practicing engineers concerned with separation technology and process design also may find the book useful.
