Book excerpt: The purpose of the Sunday school is to teach the word of God; its power brings about the spread of justice and equality in society. It aims at developing a society that believes in living with peace and harmony. Sunday schools aim at helping people from all age groups to adopt the principles of God. Sunday school education intends to educate people the ways to adhere to ideals in life. At times, this involves the teaching of scriptures from the Bible. Learning what the Bible has to say helps the people meet with God. Enabling the connection of a common man with God is a primary purpose of Sunday schools. They aim at bringing about a spiritual development for their students. The purpose of Sunday schools is indeed worthy. One must not ignore the fact that Sunday schools offer the group an opportunity to be a part of the mission of Christianity to establish equality, peace and harmony in society. They aim at the creation of a society based on the principles of Christ and serve as excellent platforms to move closer to God.

Book excerpt: What this product is about, and the needs it will meet The late 20th century Church is facing a crisis of apathy and ignorance regarding God's Word and putting faith in action. Towns' goal is to see the Church equipped for a lifestyle of Christian service and commitment. The best way to achieve that, Towns says, is by "teaching people to fish for life, rather than just giving them their daffy ration". This book provides a blueprint for revitalizing Sunday School and making it a place where Christians' needs are met and spirituality can flourish. Topics include: Seven Spiritual Factors for Sunday School (including prayer, revival, worship and the ministry of the Holy Spirit), Solving the Five Major Problems Facing Sunday Schools (e.g. inadequate facilities, teacher recruitment, etc.) and What Is a Winning Sunday School. Who this product is for 1. Sunday School directors and teachers, pastors and lay leaders. 2. Christians who want to revitalize their Sunday Schools.

This project will show that pastors who work the Sunday School will find that Sunday School will work for them. The author of this project is pastor of one of the four churches studied. Based on the history and growth of Sunday School in these churches, interviews, and personal perspectives, this paper will describe lessons that were learned and the principles that are effective for Sunday School growth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Organizing and Building Up the Sunday School" is an informational book on setting up a Sunday School in your local church. The purpose of the book is identified as to supply a convenient handbook upon the organization, the management, and the recruiting of the Sunday school, to be read by those desiring information upon these subjects. But after the larger part of the work had been prepared, a desire was expressed that the method of treatment be so modified that the volume might be employed as a text-book for classes and individual students in the department of teacher-training. It has been the aim of the author not to alter the work so materially as to render it unfitting for the general reader; and with this in view the series of blackboard outlines for the teacher, and the questions for the testing of the student's knowledge, have been placed at the end of the book.

Sixty percent of children at the time were not attending a church of any sort. Fewer than fifteen percent of children who attended Sunday School ever made a decision to follow Jesus. Youth in their early college years were walking away from faith at an unprecedented rate. Church attendance across the United States was experiencing a decline instead of growth. In response to the crisis, Dr. Mears instituted a set of principles that helped grow the Sunday School program at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood from 450 to more than 4,000 in just three years. In Sunday School Changes Everything, you will find her fearless recommendations on how to Build your church’s Christian education program both numerically and spiritually Use practical methods for training your leaders and teaching students of all stages of life Implement five ingredients of successful ministry: Jesus, the Bible, relationships, a comprehensive plan, and life change Employ 10 standards of a good curriculum that will help you answer the question of what to teach
