At last, a positive discipline book that is full of practical tips, strategies, skills, and ideas for parents of babies through teenagers, and tells you EXACTLY what to do "in the moment" for every type of behaviour, from whining to web surfing. Includes 50 pages of handy charts of the most common behaviour problems and the tools to handle them respectfully! Parents and children today face very different challenges from the previous generation. Today's children play not only in the sandbox down the street, but also in the world wide web, which is too big and complex for parents to control and supervise. As young as aged four, your child can contact the world and the world can contact them. A strong bond between you and your child is critical in order for your child to regard you as their trusted advisor. Traditional discipline methods no longer work with today's children and they destroy your ability to influence your increasingly vulnerable children who need you as their lifeline! You need new discipline tools!
Book Synopsis An Inquiry Into the Human Mind on the Principles of Common Sense by : Thomas Reid
Download or read book An Inquiry Into the Human Mind on the Principles of Common Sense written by Thomas Reid and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thomas Reid (1710-96) is increasingly being seen as a central figure in the Scottish Enlightenment. His Inquiry into the Human Mind on the Principles of Common Sense has long been recognized as a classic philosophical text. Since its first publication in 1764, no fewer than forty editions have been published. The proliferation of secondary literature further indicates that Reid's work is flourishing as never before, yet there exist thousands of unpublished manuscript pages in Reid's hand, many of which relate directly to the composition of the Inquiry. Furthermore, no account has been taken of the successive alterations made to the four editions published in Reid's lifetime. This new edition, edited by Derek Brookes, aims to present a complete, critically edited text of the Inquiry, accompanied by a judicious selection of manuscript evidence relating to its composition. The volume contains a preface by Brookes followed by an introduction giving the central argument of the Inquiry by means of a historical and philosophical account of its formation. The critical text is based on the fourth lifetime edition (1785), while the textual notes include bibliographical details and allusions, translations, references to secondary literature, and selected passages from Reid's manuscript.

Book Synopsis Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market by : Murray N. Rothbard
Download or read book Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market written by Murray N. Rothbard and published by Bubok. This book was released on 2012-10-23 with total page 1506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The era of modern economics emerged with the publication of Carl Menger?s seminal work, Principles of Economics, in 1871. In this slim book, Menger set forth the correct approach to theoretical research in economics and elaborated some of its immediate implications. In particular, Menger sought to identify the causal laws determining the prices that he observed being paid daily in actual markets.4 His stated goal was to formulate a realistic price theory that would provide an integrated explanation of the formation of market phenomena valid for all times and places.5 Menger?s investigations led him to the discovery that all market prices, wage rates, rents, and interest rates could ultimately be traced back to the choices and actions of consumers striving to satisfy their most important wants by ?economizing? scarce means or ?economic goods.? Thus, for Menger, all prices, rents, wage, and interest rates were the outcome of the value judgments of individual consumers who chose between concrete units of different goods according to their subjective values or ?marginal utilities? to use the term coined by his student Friedrich Wieser. With this insight was born modern economics.

Download or read book Motorbike People written by Will Rollason and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2019-12-03 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Motorbike People: Power and Politics on Rwandan Streets, Will Rollason examines the relationship between power and culture. Rollason looks at what social scientists gain—and lose—by abandoning the assumption that power is a universal feature of human social life. Through an ethnographic account of the lives and livelihoods of motorcycle taxi drivers in Kigali, Rwanda, Rollason depicts how forms of personhood can sit uneasily with conventional accounts of power relationships. From the motorcyclists’ everyday dealings with the police and each another to the regulation of their businesses at large and the Rwandan constitution, Rollason depicts the need for varied concepts of power. By allowing concepts of power to proliferate, the social sciences lose the political capacity to engage in questions of justice and make common cause with the oppressed, but gain the ability to rethink what it means to act politically and meet the challenges of a swiftly changing world. This work is recommended for students and scholars of the social sciences.
