Book Synopsis Iterative Incomplete Factorization Methods by : Valeri? Pavlovich Il?in
Download or read book Iterative Incomplete Factorization Methods written by Valeri? Pavlovich Il?in and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to numerical methods for solving sparse linear algebra systems of very large dimension which arise in the implementation of the mesh approximations of the partial differential equations. Incomplete factorization is the basis of the wide class of preconditioning interative processes with acceleration by conjugate gradients or the Chebyshev technique. Different kinds of explicit and implicit algorithms are considered. Theoretical grounds of correctness and estimates of the convergence velocity of iterations are presented. Together with the results of experimental investigations for the typical examples, this book is the first on systematic studying of the incomplete factorization methods.
Book Synopsis Computer Solution of Large Linear Systems by : Gerard Meurant
Download or read book Computer Solution of Large Linear Systems written by Gerard Meurant and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-06-16 with total page 777 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with numerical methods for solving large sparse linear systems of equations, particularly those arising from the discretization of partial differential equations. It covers both direct and iterative methods. Direct methods which are considered are variants of Gaussian elimination and fast solvers for separable partial differential equations in rectangular domains. The book reviews the classical iterative methods like Jacobi, Gauss-Seidel and alternating directions algorithms. A particular emphasis is put on the conjugate gradient as well as conjugate gradient -like methods for non symmetric problems. Most efficient preconditioners used to speed up convergence are studied. A chapter is devoted to the multigrid method and the book ends with domain decomposition algorithms that are well suited for solving linear systems on parallel computers.

Book Synopsis Process Modelling and Simulation with Finite Element Methods by : William B. J. Zimmerman
Download or read book Process Modelling and Simulation with Finite Element Methods written by William B. J. Zimmerman and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a systematic description and case studies of chemical engineering modelling and simulation based on the MATLAB/FEMLAB tools, in support of selected topics in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that require numerical solution of complex balance equations (ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, nonlinear equations, integro-differential equations). These systems arise naturally in analysis of transport phenomena, process systems, chemical reactions and chemical thermodynamics, and particle rate processes. Templates are given for modelling both state-of-the-art research topics (e.g. microfluidic networks, film drying, multiphase flow, population balance equations) and case studies of commonplace design calculations -- mixed phase reactor design, heat transfer, flowsheet analysis of unit operations, flash distillations, etc. The great strength of this book is that it makes modelling and simulating in the MATLAB/FEMLAB environment approachable to both the novice and the expert modeller.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three-volume set LNCS 5101-5103 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Computational Science, ICCS 2008, held in Krakow, Poland in June 2008. The 167 revised papers of the main conference track presented together with the abstracts of 7 keynote talks and the 100 revised papers from 14 workshops were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the three volumes. The main conference track was divided into approximately 20 parallel sessions addressing topics such as e-science applications and systems, scheduling and load balancing, software services and tools, new hardware and its applications, computer networks, simulation of complex systems, image processing and visualization, optimization techniques, numerical linear algebra, and numerical algorithms. The second volume contains workshop papers related to various computational research areas, e.g.: computer graphics and geometric modeling, simulation of multiphysics multiscale systems, computational chemistry and its applications, computational finance and business intelligence, physical, biological and social networks, geocomputation, and teaching computational science. The third volume is mostly related to computer science topics such as bioinformatics' challenges to computer science, tools for program development and analysis in computational science, software engineering for large-scale computing, collaborative and cooperative environments, applications of workflows in computational science, as well as intelligent agents and evolvable systems.

This book was released on 2019-06-06 with total page 1036 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Modelling of Gas-Phase Complex Reaction Systems: Pyrolysis and Combustion, Volume 45, gives an overview of the different steps involved in the development and application of detailed kinetic mechanisms, mainly relating to pyrolysis and combustion processes. The book is divided into two parts that cover the chemistry and kinetic models and then the numerical and statistical methods. It offers a comprehensive coverage of the theory and tools needed, along with the steps necessary for practical and industrial applications. - Details thermochemical properties and "ab initio" calculations of elementary reaction rates - Details kinetic mechanisms of pyrolysis and combustion processes - Explains experimental data for improving reaction models and for kinetic mechanisms assessment - Describes surrogate fuels and molecular reconstruction of hydrocarbon liquid mixtures - Describes pollutant formation in combustion systems - Solves and validates the kinetic mechanisms using numerical and statistical methods - Outlines optimal design of industrial burners and optimization and dynamic control of pyrolysis furnaces - Outlines large eddy simulation of turbulent reacting flows

Book Synopsis Computational Electromagnetics by : Thomas Rylander
Download or read book Computational Electromagnetics written by Thomas Rylander and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Electromagnetics is a young and growing discipline, expanding as a result of the steadily increasing demand for software for the design and analysis of electrical devices. This book introduces three of the most popular numerical methods for simulating electromagnetic fields: the finite difference method, the finite element method and the method of moments. In particular it focuses on how these methods are used to obtain valid approximations to the solutions of Maxwell's equations, using, for example, "staggered grids" and "edge elements." The main goal of the book is to make the reader aware of different sources of errors in numerical computations, and also to provide the tools for assessing the accuracy of numerical methods and their solutions. To reach this goal, convergence analysis, extrapolation, von Neumann stability analysis, and dispersion analysis are introduced and used frequently throughout the book. Another major goal of the book is to provide students with enough practical understanding of the methods so they are able to write simple programs on their own. To achieve this, the book contains several MATLAB programs and detailed description of practical issues such as assembly of finite element matrices and handling of unstructured meshes. Finally, the book aims at making the students well-aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the different methods, so they can decide which method is best for each problem. In this second edition, extensive computer projects are added as well as new material throughout. Reviews of previous edition: "The well-written monograph is devoted to students at the undergraduate level, but is also useful for practising engineers." (Zentralblatt MATH, 2007)
