Book Synopsis An Analysis of Interpreter-computer Reporting Techniques by : Robert T. Root
Download or read book An Analysis of Interpreter-computer Reporting Techniques written by Robert T. Root and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study was made to identify and analyze factors in image interpreter-computer communication and to evaluate, through experimentation, reporting techniques selected as most useful for a computer-based tactical image interpretation facility. Sixteen raters made the required judgments for four separate reporting functions involving interpreter-computer interaction: (1) input of flight plan and mission data, (2) input of queries for retrieval of reference information, (3) Hot Report generation, and (4) Immediate Report generation. A survey of present Army reporting requirements indicated that while there is general agreement on the different types of reports required, there is no clear operational statement of reporting requirements for Hot and Immediate reporting that is consistently followed in the field. Analysis of reporting requirements for infrared and radar sensors indicated that words having unique meanings for these sensors must be added to the permissible reporting vocabulary. Also, report content must include the capability for providing alternative or additional information on characteristics of these sensors. (Author).

This book was released on 1966 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The model, the task analysis results, and a survey of equipment for reference displays were all used to evaluate design alternatives for indexing, storage forms, storage media, and displays, as well as requirements and displays for auxiliary data. Three modes of TIIF operation-manual, semi-automated, and automated-were considered. Reference storage forms, media, and displays should be selected in the context of a manual or automated TIIF system. For a manual system, references should be in their original form and stored in file cabinets. For an automated system, references should be standardized according to interpreter needs and controlled by a computer processing unit. Reference indexes should be designed for each type of reference, utilizing existing indexes as far as possible. Collection and processing of auxiliary information should be automated for ease of subsequent processing. The code matrix block should be used whenever possible. The displays of auxiliary information should relate to whether the system is manual or automated. For the manual system, auxiliary displays should be viewed in hard copy or in the original format. For the automated system, displays, if needed, should be under computer control. Additional information for a code matrix block should include aircraft stabilization data. (Author).

Book Synopsis The Future of Translation Technology by : Chan Sin-wai
Download or read book The Future of Translation Technology written by Chan Sin-wai and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-10-26 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technology has revolutionized the field of translation, bringing drastic changes to the way translation is studied and done. To an average user, technology is simply about clicking buttons and storing data. What we need to do is to look beyond a system’s interface to see what is at work and what should be done to make it work more efficiently. This book is both macroscopic and microscopic in approach: macroscopic as it adopts a holistic orientation when outlining the development of translation technology in the last forty years, organizing concepts in a coherent and logical way with a theoretical framework, and predicting what is to come in the years ahead; microscopic as it examines in detail the five stages of technology-oriented translation procedure and the strengths and weaknesses of the free and paid systems available to users. The Future of Translation Technology studies, among other issues: The Development of Translation Technology Major Concepts in Computer-aided Translation Functions in Computer-aided Translation Systems A Theoretical Framework for Computer-Aided Translation Studies The Future of Translation Technology This book is an essential read for scholars and researchers of translational studies and computational linguistics, and a guide to system users and professionals.
