And you don't have to do it alone. Through empowering stories, sample letters, and writing tips, author Elana Zaiman serves as your companion on this journey of self discovery and deepening relationships. Praise: "I love this little book because it's about writing real letters, a lost art in our time. Even more important, it's about writing letters that matter to people who matter to us. What could be better than putting words to paper to tell people who we are and what we are becoming, and what it is that we cherish and value—thanking them for the way they helped point us toward our own North Star?"—Parker J. Palmer, author of Let Your Life Speak and A Hidden Wholeness "Elana Zaiman has a mission: She loves connection, deep and personal, and wants others to experience the sweet joy she has lived of shared truth-telling. Her forever letter embodies the passing on of wisdom, humbling experience, dreams, and love from one person to another. It is a beautiful concept that all of us should embrace."—Julie Schwartz Gottman, PhD, co-founder of the Gottman Institute and author of Ten Principles for Doing Effective Couples Therapy

Book Synopsis My Mother My Friend Forever by : Betty Gonzales
Download or read book My Mother My Friend Forever written by Betty Gonzales and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-02 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In May 2004, I began a morning ritual of sending out devotionals. The devotionals were sent via electronic mail as a source of encouragement, inspiration, correction, hope and admonishment. Within the course of six months, my distribution list had grown from ten people to twenty-five people. Each morning, while faithfully having a hot cup of coffee, the devotionals were distributed. As a result of sending the devotionals, it was consistently communicated how helpful, insightful and inspirational they were. They became so helpful that the majority of the recipients began to forward them to their family and friends, which in turn grew the distribution list even greater. Over the course of the following year, since the inception of the first morning devotional, it was spoken out the mouths of two or three witnesses, that there should be a publication of the devotionals. After much consideration, I present to you a collection of daily devotionals that come straight from my heart to you. Many of the devotionals were birthed out of my own life experiences. Some of them were very painful, bitter, tough, life experiences. But thank God, as a result, I present, "Unleavened- A Collection of Daily Devotions". It is my prayer that these devotionals serve as a source of encouragement, inspiration, correction and motivation for your life, and that more abundantly.

With her rich history, culture, and traditions spanning many generations, I am taken back in time as I walk along the cobblestone streets, stroll the Battery, take a carriage ride, and admire the historic homes and beautiful iron gates. Surrounded by water, wetlands, sandy beaches, and steeples rising far above the rooftops, this city by the sea will lure you into her beauty. Explore the waterways and marshlands, feel the soft beach sand between your toes, and observe the abundant birds and wildlife, and you too will be captivated by the treasures in this beautiful city and its surroundings. I have learned so many life lessons in the marshes, creeks, rivers, and beaches that surround this beautiful city. I still love to watch the sunsets, smell the pluff mud, and listen to the sound of the ocean as it breaks over the beach. The excitement never diminishes when a fish nibbles at my line, or I pull up a net full of shrimp, or chase a crab on the dock with his claws snapping in defense. I still love the feel of the wind on my face as I travel on a boat along the waterways. The nature and beauty that surround me give me a great spirit of peace, hope, faith, and love. I am able to see God's great creation everywhere I turn. I feel very close to my Creator here. I cannot possibly thank God enough for all the many blessings He has bestowed on me. Most of the devotions in this book come from true stories of my experiences in this beautiful place and the way these adventures have led to the faith I now have and want to share with you. I hope you will enjoy them too.

Book Synopsis Parental Incarceration by : Denise Johnston
Download or read book Parental Incarceration written by Denise Johnston and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-10 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parental Incarceration makes available personal stories by adults who have had the childhood experience of parental incarceration. These stories help readers better understand the complex circumstances that influence these children’s health and development, as well as their high risk for intergenerational crime and incarceration. Denise Johnston examines her own children’s experience of her incarceration within the context of what the research and her 30 years of practice with prisoners and their children has taught her, arguing that it is imperative to attempt to understand parental incarceration within a developmental framework. Megan Sullivan, a scholar in the Humanities, examines the effects of her father’s incarceration on her family, and underscores the importance of the reentry process for families. The number of arrested, jailed, and imprisoned persons in the United States has increased since 1960, most dramatically between 1985 and 2000. As the majority of these incarcerated persons are parents, the number of minor children with an incarcerated parent has increased alongside, peaking at an estimated 2.9 million in 2006. The impact of the experience of parental incarceration has garnered attention by researchers, but to date attention has been focused on the period when parents are actually in jail or prison. This work goes beyond that to examine the developmental impact of children’s experiences that extend long beyond that timeframe. A valuable resource for students in corrections, human services, social work, counseling, and related courses, as well as practitioners, program/agency administrators, policymakers, advocates, and others involved with families of the incarcerated, this book is testimony that the consequences of mass incarceration reach far beyond just the offender.
Book Synopsis Forever and Then Some: Memoirs of a Caregiver with Her Love by : Dr. Sue Clifton

This book was released on 2021-09-29 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Woody and I almost made our fiftieth wedding anniversary—a marriage filled with adventure: fly fishing, backpacking in mountains; living in exotic locations like New Zealand and Alaska; and retiring to a beautiful cabin high in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. But the last two years proved traumatic when the monster Glioblastoma tore apart our dreams for retirement by stealing Woody's memory and sense of time and place, zapping his energy, stamina, and balance until standing and walking were impossible. The beast ravaged my love and instilled indefatigable fear in my heart and mind—the one who loves and cares for him beyond the bounds of human compassion and marital devotion. "If you need me, call me!" was his oath to protect me, and all I could give him in return was my promise. "I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER AND THEN SOME!" Together we fought but in the end, my Woody grew weary and wanted to "go be with the Lord." Now I sit alone in silence, surrounded by a shrine of oversized pictures of my handsome cowboy and I yearn for "Then some" which is heaven. Soon, my love! Soon!
Book Synopsis Life’s Little Lessons Forever: by : James E. Smith Ph. D.
Download or read book Life’s Little Lessons Forever: written by James E. Smith Ph. D. and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2023-08-22 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life’s Little Lessons Forever: The Rhythm and Reason for Life James E. Smith, Ph. D. This book is the third in a series of the lessons learned during my life. The first volume, Life’s Little Lessons - with some not so little was primarily situated during the adolescent years up until college. That book was about those experiences that we all most likely encounter in our own way during those developmental years. The second book, Life’s Little Lessons, too - A Proper Life with a Career, starts off where the first one ended extending those life lessons learned while developing and executing a professional career. As in both volumes, it is the individuals you interact with all around you, plus the social, physical, and clearly professional environments you live in that impact who you are now and who you will become in the future. While these lessons, collectively, are all unique influences in your personal development, it turns out these factors are only part of a set of what I refer to as lessons that everyone is exposed to and allowed to integrate into their personality, at their choosing. Together they essentially become the building blocks of your existence and help to determine how well you will, and can, participate in your ever-changing social, personal, and professional environments. It is in the responses and reactions created through our experienced stories where we learn to understand who we really are and how best we are to live and work in the complex and interwoven environments that we exist in. This book consists of a series of prepared thoughts on what I think are life’s most important issues: love, spirituality, leadership, family and friends, passion and intimacy, plus some thoughts less specific. It also includes several quotes and sayings used to reinforce ideas for my friends, family members, and students. It is hoped that reading this book will help the reader realize the importance of these lessons and how attention to their details in your own life will enhance and encourage your continued professional, personal, and social development.
Book Synopsis Forever and Ever, Amen by : Paul Overstreet
Download or read book Forever and Ever, Amen written by Paul Overstreet and published by Destiny Image Publishers. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Power of a Simple Song "If I had to pick my favorite Overstreet song, it would have to be 'Forever and Ever, Amen' ... Over the years, I've recorded quite a few Paul Overstreet songs. I consider myself very fortunate each time I stand before and audience and sing his songs. More often than any other time, I see the powerful effect his words have on people." From the Foreword by Randy Travis Seldom has an American Country musician changed the face and tenor of the modern-day genre with as much impact as has Paul Overstreet the humble songwriter who chose to stop writing songs about misery and start writing songs that affirm family, the joys of marriage, staying faithful and finding happiness, and honoring your parents. These songs have gone on to become huge hits for Country artists such as Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Paul Davis, and the Judds. In his own words and with the voluble agreement of his hundreds of fans, who wrote e-mails to his website Paul tells how he was inspired to write such hits as "I Fell in Love Again Last Night," "Same Ole Me," "Forever and Ever, Amen," "Heroes," "On the Other Hand," "Sowin' Love," "Til the Mountains Disappear," "When You Say Nothing at All," and so many others. Forever and Ever, Amen is a celebration of life once lost, now found and a man who has written songs that have touched so many others in their everyday lives.
Book Synopsis Character in Everything Forever by : Richard G. Lazar, PhD
Download or read book Character in Everything Forever written by Richard G. Lazar, PhD and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Character is the knowledge, which opens a treasure chest to the kingdom of life and love and life afterward. Our insights and writing is likened to Napoleon Hill's great book Think And Grow Rich. Our secret key to human character is that it is not psychological, per se. It is a blend of morals and ethics. Therefore think of it simply as thinking and doing good, right, helpful and better. Values shape character. Character isn't everything yet it affects everything in almost every phase of life. It is mentioned after selecting the wrong people for important positions, assuming high character without the evidence in prior history. We see it in sports, government, management and leadership, education and teaching, families and in our opinions about all of it. Human Love precedes character building. Character flaws are correctable. Honor can and does exist in civilian, day to day life although we hear of honor more in military activities then civilian life. There is an American Character. It has a lot to do with executing on The Common Good. The ways to develop High Character Practices (Winner Ways) versus the ways to overcome Low Character Practices (Loser Ways) are provided. Excellent Managers and Leaders, and Decent-Human-Beings, practice Character-Coaching to achieve high character practices to achieve the common good of an enterprise that includes profit for all stakeholders along with sustainability and growth.

Download or read book Forever Liesl written by Charmian Carr and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2001-04-01 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The magic of The Sound of Music lives on in the minds and hearts of everyone it has touched. Now, Charmian Carr, who in 1965 captivated moviegoers as Liesl "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" von Trapp, tells what it was like to be a part of the film that has become a cultural phenomenon. It's all here: from how she got the role (and why she almost didn't) to romances on the set and wild nights in Salzburg; from the near-disaster during the gazebo dance to her relationships--then and now--with her six celluloid siblings. Charmian offers stories from fans and friends and a treasury of photographs. And she reveals why she left acting, what she learned when she met the real von Trapp children; and how The Sound of Music has helped her get through stormy times in her own life. Forever Liesl celebrates the spirit of the movie and what it stands for: family love, romance, inspiration, nostalgia, and the joy and power of music.
Download or read book Red Wine written by Amīnah Zaydān and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suzie Mohamad Galal, born in the Egyptian city of Suez during the War of Attrition in the late 1960s, is a woman of inner conflicts, at once a fighter and a lover, who traverses the boundaries of ethnicity and religion. Her whole life is intricately tied to the wars and political events taking place in Egypt. But as she grapples with where to begin her story of personal and national crises, questions of narration arise: which metaphor best serves the layers of meaning she wants to communicate, and whose voice is telling the story anyway? Red Wine is both timely in its attention to the issues of state brutality, religious extremism, and gender, and timeless in the way it deals with the themes of coming of age, guilt, and sadness.
